JaysInc
https://youtu.be/GWlrJq8yi2w Just to sum up 15 minutes of video: Gaming companies are "purposely" making their games controversial so that news media could highlight them in their stories, which, bluntly, makes them popular. Some notable games are: Race and Chase (The game that made GTA) GTA V (Stated for its own controversies Carmageddon And the new indie game with controversies galore. Snydrex
Marketing schemes are common knowledge to me by now. Economics classes do that.
TheSadisticDragon
I am always kinda disconected from all that stuff. I just check steam for interesting looking games and if a great group of people likes a game. But things like controversies don't affect my opinion on games all that much. Shifted
Hatred obviously is riding that train. It's a shallow, boring game that wouldn't achieve anything if not for the setting. GTA V... I don't know, it don't recall it being any more "controversial" than previous GTA's, or other similar games for that matter.

About Hatred, it's just a linear game where you kill civilians and that's it. Yes there is gore and some violent scenes with its, but it's just mainly for aesthetics. TheSadisticDragon
I do however find that games (like Hatred for example) should be judged for it's story and gameplay and not for marketing, since there is always a chance that some devs just want to make an overly violent game without necererly doing it for the publicity.
