[Concept] The Dojo Construction Workers Guild

Question

So with the imminent drop of U8 coming up and the addition of the clan dojo on the horizon I began wondering on how this all might work out.

My thoughts so far,

  • 1 The Dev team have stated that one of the reasons for the Dojo construction was to get players to form clans together

  • 2 Since the Devs will seem to favor larger clans over smaller clans obviously larger clans could essentially get an advatange over smaller clans depending on how/if a Research & Develpoment type portion of clan buildings can lead to only a select few to gain these advantages.

Now some people such as myself and others may not like to be in huge clans, primarily because anyone that has been in an online clan for any amount of time will tell you eventually differences of opinions will come to clash and the entire melodrama begins to unfold.
So how to bridge the gap between small clans and large clans and dojo development is the question I am posing.
My solution is To Start a Clan/Guild known as the Dojo Construction Workers Guild DCWG

The purpose of this guild is:
"To help with the construction of Small to Medium size clan dojos so that the members can enjoy the same benefits as large clan Dojos."

How it Works

  • 1 Members Join the DCWG
  • 2 Members then can put in a request for resources to build Their Clan Dojo from the DCWG Froum board.
  • 3 Members pool resources to build Dojo
  • 4 After Dojo is built Member & Members Clan Members are required to continue to contribute to other Dojo projects as a form of "payment" (Payment in the sense that the clan will be pooling resources for other projects, This is all a NONMONETARY operation. and anyone that would try to accept any form of monetary payment for services rendered by the DCWG will be banned)

This method can work with or without a limited trade system. With a Limited trade system how it would work is:

  • 1 Members Join the DCWG

  • 2 Members that want the assistance of the DCWG will be required to give the leader a set amount of materials in order to join. These will be returned upon completion of atleast 3 other Dojo contructions, not counting the members own Dojo Construction. All materials that are traded in this process are NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ANYKIND (This is a way to ensure that members that want to use the DCWGs material will have a reason to finish the DCWG Dojo construction requirement and not simply abuse the guild for thier own purposes without giving back to the guild in some way. IF A MEMBER DOES NOT FULLFILL the Dojo Construction Requirement of 3 additional Dojos then the materials that were traded for services/entry will not be returned and a random lottery will be held to award members of the clan with said resources. The amount of resources that are required to join will be determined by how large a player wants their Dojo to be, the bigger the Dojo the more Materials required for membership)

  • 3Members contact the DCWG Senior officials, EIther the Leaders, or the Overseers, who will manage the material transaction.

  • 4 Members trade resources to a DCWG Material Manager (A List of all Mat. Managers will be placed on the DCWG Forum and all trasactions must take place with 2 senior DCWG seniors, 1 being the material manager and the other an Overseer.  All Mat. Transactions will be recorded a written into a log (DCWG Material Managment Frorum) after which all three parties involved in the transaction will each post directly after the Material Sheet post (Written by the Material Manager who places his IGN at the end of the post) as a signature of transaction. The DCWG MMs will be the ones in charge of the DCWG resources for production of Dojos. While DCWG Os will be resonsible for coordinating and recording the material transactions.

With a limited trade system in place it makes the question of "What if someone joins and has the Guild build their dojo but then they just leave and dont help the others?" out of the picture becuqse of the collateral materials that will be in possesion of the clan.

This Idea is basically a form of ingame banking with absolutely ZERO use of platinum or real life currency to drive it. I have tried to explain my idea as thoroughly and accurately as possible in the hopes of getting this Idea off the ground. With any luck and some much needed help of the community this idea can work great.

God dang man, dojos arent event out and you're already trying to unionize!

Lol not so much unionize as trying to give everyone a a fair shot to work towards their own goal and to hlep others as payment for achieving that goal. Whil to some it may seem socialist but at its core it neither capitalist or a socialist type model as in the end rather than equal outcome as a socialist type model or the gain of coaptilist nature the initial mats to join are returned and everyon simply works together to get what they want. Though I am thinking that Members that tend to be more active will eb entered into a lottery and have the chance to move up the wait list a few slots. This adds incentive to those that do contribute more to the group than others.

All clans should have the same advantages... access and space wise I mean. If they limit 1 clan to so much space and give another clan more space because the number of people in it, it's down right dumb. I can tell you one thing that there are going to be people who will make clans just for their friends to play with and not a giant 'Join now' kind of Clan that will let just anyone in for more Dojo space.

Yes, it is true DE is tryin to get people to be more 'Communicative' and friendly, but this would push it too far. Should allow people of small clans (of close friends and such) the same use of the Dojo as large random clans that probably have thousands of inactive/multi-account users.

I will just make stuff simple ...

Clans will be categorised proportional to members and the amount of mats will depend on the Category of the clan.

1) Under 15 member : Mats needed = 10000

2) Under 30 members: Mats needed = 27500

3) Under 50 members : Mats needed = 45000

4) Under 75 members : Mats needed = 82500

5) Under 150 members :Mats needes = 157500

And so on... everybody is happy

@Yanga: You do realise that fake / inactive accounts wont contribute to dojo building... Infact you forgot the thing about thr fact that you HAVE TO BUILD stuff. And yes active clans should be rewarded.

IF EVERY ONE GETS SAME STUFF WHATS THE POINT OF CLANS? There should be jus groups rather than clans

It's not so much about equal outcome as it is equal opportunity, which is why I agree with a scaling system based upon actual numbers. Rather than having "Size" be the factor why not say have larger clans get a shorter build time? This way it keeps it open for everyone to eventually gain access to certain functions while those with a larger support base get the benefit of a faster build time.

The way how he put it is that Clans with a larger player group get larger rewards/bonuses over clans that have only 10-12 people that are friends. Meaning if there were about... say... 20 inactive accounts in the clan and 10 alternate accounts, they would get more clan space and maybe rewarded for having such a big clan. (This is technically speaking of course)

And if there was another clan but has 30 players less than the other clan, but all active, they get less reward because the other clan has more players. See my point?

Doesn't matter if the Materials don't come in that quick, if it increases space for the Dojo or gives reward to clan, it influences adding people that would make more accounts just to increase it.
