Ruffian: A New Pump-Action Shotgun

I've been playing Warframe for a reasonably long period of time now, and it's really fun. I love getting up close to enemies and slashing away at their faces; but there's one thing I'd love to do even more. Get up that close and pump them full of lead pellets and smile at the smoking barrel. This is why I present to all you ladies and gentlemen:
 

The Ruffian.

In short, the Ruffian is a simple, pump-action shotgun, that reloads individual shells. It comes with moderate damage, a relatively tight spread and a balanced physical damage. Because of its brute power, it kicks like a horse, but there's an advantage; it comes with an innate 1.0 meter punchthrough. Mediocre damage, but makes up for this by a high critical chance and multiplier. It follows Tenno design, in visuals and stat-wise, although no-one can confirm where it originated. Stories go that it was found along side a collapsed mine, dusty and abandoned. Others say it was used to hunt wildlife on Earth. But all we know; It delivers a good kick, and it's as balanced as the Tenno that wields it.

Enough babbling, getting to the stats. (subject for change at any time!)

[Primary shotgun]
Pump-action

Mastery level: 4

Manual reload, reloads individual shells, can be cancelled by firing the gun or zooming in.

Fire rate: 3.0 rounds/sec (There's a quick animation of the Warframe ejecting the shell)

Pellet count: 12 pellets/round

Accuracy: 8.6 (Unzoomed spread equals to about one and a half body-widths(Grineer), aimed down equals to about one body-width(Grineer))

Magazine size: 11 rounds/mag

Innate punch-through: 1.0m

Noise level: ALARMING

Reload time: 0.3 sec/shell (full reload is 3.5 seconds)

Normal attacks:

Physical damage: 600.0

Impact damage: 200.0
Puncture damage: 200.0
Slash damage: 200.0

Recoil: Strong
Crit chance: 45%
Crit multiplier: 3.0x
Status chance: 25%

Polarities: V -

Build ideas:
A crit-focused build, including Blunderbuss, (Primed) Ravage, Critical Deceleration.

A status-focused build, including Hell's Chamber, Scattering Inferno, Frigid Blast, Toxic Barrage and Shell Shock.

An anti-infested build, including Seeking Force, Vicious Spread and Accelerated Blast.

Components required to craft:

4 Morphics
1500 Salvage
500 Alloy Plates
2 Orokin Cells
25.000 Credits

were talking about a space shotgun people, i really dont think "logic" matters.

 

i for one think its a great concept! though, i don't see the benefit as we already have plenty of shotguns available. we do not have a pump action shotgun yet and i think this would be a good addition to the game if you like that style.

 

could it be a two handed secondary instead? not to be mistaken from the AKBronco. that would be a first.

In my opinion, the available shotguns just don't cut it for me. And I would definitely think it is too powerful as a secondary, and too bulky. There could be a secondary variant, but I don't think it'd be that cool or effective.

The buff will eventually come, and these stats will be changed accordingly.

On a sidenote, I thought of a funny extra; Every enemy within approximately 10 meters of the barrel (in a 180 degree cone in front of you) is staggered once a shot is fired, enemies within 5 meters are knocked down.

Maybe less magazine since you reload individually.

As naturally with these type of shotguns they reload faster individually then clip based weapons, thus enticing you to always be reloading outside of battle.

I think you made a good point, although the biggest point this gun makesis to charge head-first into battle; a clipsize of 11 shells seems reasonable to me: enough to kill one man to a squad, but you need to find cover once there are more.

i love it, i always wanted a shotgun that i would like in the game

i tried tigris but its downside was the 2 mag clip -_-

and drakgoon, it just didnt feel right to me

 

This one is actually pretty cool

but i feel that no one really uses shotguns much cause of the power of rifles

in order to compete with rifles we need something with a little OOmmmphhh

 

just a suggestion for a slight increase to its buffness

-------slight change, but its still an awesome gun

Pellet count: 12 pellets/round (its all about DAT 12 GAUGE!!! xO)

a seems a little beastier that way

we kinda do need a shotgun thats just epic to use

Well, this is designed to be in line of the power of the current shotguns, it is a low tier shotgun accesible to new players as well, that's kind of what I was aiming for, but I see what you mean; 'veteran' players would just use this as mastery fodder and throw it away. Your suggestion seemed good, and gave me another idea, how about this:

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated, let me know if this suits better, but a heads-up: In the current stats, one fired shell would equal to about 300 physical damage, including the given crit-stats. So it's not as weak as it seems!

12 gauge yes, and yeah we need a shotgun veterans would use

 

most weapons in the game are just clutter

tossed aside for overspammed ones

like Soma Prime, Dragon Nikana, Amprex, Quanta Vandal

when a weapon stands above the rest it is the best

and what we need is the best of the best

like the Soma prime is best rifle, dragon nikana best sword, or dread/paris are best bow

all we really have shotgun wise is a lame 2 shot tigris or drakgoon

mainly i want a slash shotgun that i can enjoy using, for sweeping serration

i tried it for tigirs but that 2 shot... its just lame

if it is ever implemented id use it

but at its power level i'd say mastery level 5, not 3

 

(Would be awesome to have 2 fire types, regular fire and alt fire)

(Kinda like how the quanta vandal has laser or square fire types)

(No aiming but 2 types of fire)

(Regular shoots 1 shot)

(Alternate is a knockback melee then shot, or double/triple fire)

Anyways, it would be cool to have a alternate fire type

Like a quick 3 round shotgun burst for alternate, 

Or a melee punch with the gun that then you fire off a round

 

Alternate firing would be an awesome thing to have on any gun

But seeing this shotgun made me think of a Triple shot, shot gun

A shotgun that shoots 3 quick rounds, mag clip of about 18, 

3 round burst alt fire, 1 round burst regular fire

3 round shot has less punch through of 1.0, more spread, less accuracy

Normal round is more accurate, less spread, punch through 2.0

the choice would be up to the player

but having the choice to snipe with a shotgun vs blow away mobs

that would make it versatile

 

Whole choice depends on bullet type

Slug or pellets

 

Reg fire is a powerful knock back slug

Alt is a spread of pellets

 

One is good for single targets

Alt is good for groups

 

Its just a thought maybe

Shotguns, should be called shot FUN!!!! xO lol

Personally, I dislike secondary fires because it takes away the aim down sight utility. Your idea could be a different shotgun alltogeher, maybe work on it? I did decide to balance out the damage to be perfectly balanced; like the Tenno themselves
