Sculpting/topology Query

Are we actually able to sculpt content? Thinking about a helmet here (possibly asymmetric), I'm assuming polycount must be at an acceptable level but seeing as they are usually static as a solid mesh we don't need to meet any special topological standard do we?

The only sculptable content available atm is Syandanas.
