Acolyte Event Encounter Counter?

So i notice the event has the usual counter in the user profile section. 

But my question is, Should this number be going up for each Acolyte i kill or is it going to count the number of waves i manage in the last part of the event which is yet to come? 

 

I ask due to seeing people in some post say they have a number other than 0 in this section and refer to it as the encounter counter. Or am i looking in the wrong section for the encounter counter? Screen provided.

You can see the amount of acolytes confronted in the navigation UI under the event tab.

That Shadow Debt on profile is most likely towards tje final Challange after all 5 acolytes are dead.

Yup, it'll probably display how many waves you perform on the last mission.
