Excalibur and Focus

Question

I'm about to start a new school and have two greater lens ready.  Due to recent solo focus nerfs, I'm not interested in making another Loki, I'm thinking of placing on Excalibur but want some clarity before I do.

1. How is focus awarded for your kills with exalted blade (not shared focus with convergence, just yours)?  Does focus only go to frame, or also to melee weapon?

2. I'm pretty certain focus only goes to frame for kills with radial javelin, which makes me wonder why so many RJ excals go to draco.  It seems 4 lens on booster frame better than excal doing all kills but limited to one lens for focus rewards (since no one else killing).

So, I'm really trying to determine the best lens location for excal + weapon.  Any benefit to placing on melee versus primary (in consideration to EB being considered a power kill or melee kill)?

Focus is now shared like affinity is

The best way to farm focus is putting a lens on a frame and one on another weapon, if you are going to leech affinity, (think of it as any other frame on Draco, except for Excalibur)

However if you are going to do a lot of kills, (AKA exclaimer with Rj on Draco) then you are better of putting a lens on just the warframe

Here's a table to help explain further

Last I checked, Excal and frames with similar ults still only get half the focus they're meant to get. Since Exalted Blade counts as another weapon, and we obviously can't install a lens on it, focus gains are halved for Exalted Blade kills.

DE already acknowledged this bug, we just have to wait for a fix.

Other than that, shared focus gain is the same as shared experience gain, so either have lenses on all your equipment or just unequip any weapon that doesn't have a lens.

What's the difference? The overall focus amount does not change. In case you kill enemies with RJ, 100%, which means basically all, of the focus goes to the lens on your warframe. In case you kill them with a weapon, 50% goes to that weapon and 50% to your warframe. And in case you play somelike like a buffer Rhino and let someone else do all the killing, than 25% go to each weapon with a lens in it as well as your warframe.

In the end the overall amount of focus you get does not change. In how many parts you split a pizza does not change how much pizza you have.

In solo stealth, you get double XP if have on frame and on weapon (with weapon doing killing).  Main question I had was if Excalibur EB counted as weapon equipped or new invisible weapon that cannot equip lens.  That was answered.  Your post brings up other issues...

My understanding of system may be wrong, but you get more shared focus the more lens you have on weapons.  This is why you get less focus on sortie that is rifle, pistol, melee only.

I do not believe you get more focus for un-equipping weapons that do not have lens (as some have suggested).  If no lens on say a pistol, you lose shared focus what would have went to that slot.  If have a lens, get additional focus for that slot, if it's greater lens, get 40% more for that slot.

Otherwise, why would you have 4 lens on gear, or why even use greater?

To clarify your example, let's say you get 100 shared focus (no kills).  If you had 4 lens equipped, you would get 25 to each slot.  If 1 lens, only 25 focus would be awarded, not the entire 100.

This system is really BS and needs some clarification by DE...

Focus is now shared like affinity, you will still get 100% of focus earned but for clarification purposes, if you have a 1 weapon with a lens and a warfare with a lens then 25% of focus goes to the warframe (25) and 75% goes to the weapon (75)

So is there any point in equipping say greater lens on frame, and a mixture of normal / greater on weapons?

Based on this feedback, it's best to just equip one greater on weapon and one greater on frame.

Do you need to unquip weapons without lens to avoid losing focus or that will be distributed to weapons with lens anyway?

If you wanna farm focus as fast as you can

Equip one greater lens on a frame and one greater lens on a weapon

Thats it

I get that, but are you punished for equipping weapons without lens or a mixture of normal / greater?

With one weapon, the 75% goes to that weapon.

But what about mutiple weapons with lens.  I know it's an uneven split if have more than one weapon equipped.  I have greater on primary and melee but normal on secondary.  I get more shared on greater melee than normal secondary for shared kills only (wasn't using them). This makes me believe I'm getting extra focus by having the secondary equipped, but your saying I'd get same amount if I just took them off.

Are we punished for using weapons without lens or even using a normal lens in combination to greater.

The table above doesn't account for more than one weapon.
