[infested boss, with horror aspects] Vathma, Dread Mother of the Lost. !WIP!

the Vathma, big but not thick(i'm thinking like 14 feet tall), tall and scary, humanoid, semi-exposed rib cage with yellow glowing pustules, long lanky arms and legs, a skull like head with many glowing eyes that can be seen in the dark when it roams its den. a horror story would be really good for warframe in my honest opinion.

a mission to make you feel you are being watched at every turn. make very little enemy encounters before the fight, a few things to bypass like malfunctioning infested tram systems, doors blocked by infested mass that can only be entered by burning it away by firing the broken engine of a ship crashed into the planets station, and a few parkour paths. lots of flickering lights and shadows of vathma passing by.

the actual fight would be in a huge ship hangar but less spacious because of the overgrown infestation with very low light and with holes in the ceiling for the Vathma to drop in and out of, infested rubble mass acting as cover for you and the Vathma.

for attacking she would swing medium range tentacles, occasionally throwing 8 timed barely visible snares at random locations in the arena that would hold your warframe for a few brief moments, while in the snare she would spew out a horde of 30 - 50 Maggots. snares would be relatively small and never more than 8 at a time new ones replace the old.

at certain points in the fight after it taking damage, the Vathma, will jump into the previously mentioned holes and hide making skreeching sounds summoning a few volatile runners, maggots, and boilers.

the vathma will be fairly thick skinned, meaning "no one shots this time" -Alad V. but there will be activatable traps you can set for the beast itself.

the arena i am thinking about will be large, very large, not so big its hard to keep up with things but a playground for the infested.

(a few lotus quotes for the mission)

url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=imgres&c "there are fates worse than death, tenno."    "the vathma lurks, cleanse its twisted soul."    "the vathma is a wound to the origin system, we are here to mend that wound."    "the vathma is never alone, watch out for its snares and maggot hordes."   "tenno...(static)... this is no.....your....." "tenno? Tenno? Tenno?!"

Art will be added at a later date when it has been crafted.

i've had this idea boiling in my head for a while but was scared of it getting hated. i am going into this with all my burning warframe passion and i hope you at least enjoy the read.

i am barely on the forums and hope i am doing this right, if you have hate please go easy on me :D

didn't mean to put this quote box here, i'm not sure how to get rid of it.

PS, i thought that image of the lotus would show up and not be a link. (not sure how to post pictures, but i posted the first quick sketch on my instagram, go check it out at Theartofbattle there will be more as i get inspired!)

Sounds interesting. Though 30 - 50 maggots seems like an aweful lot. There seems to be a maximum of 4/5 that can latch on to your body

True, but I wanted it to be scary, like every few you get off a few more take its place. 30-50 may be a bit extreme though. Thanks for the input!

should look like a deformed margulis (note, i said, like, doesn't have to actually be her body) just for more trauma and the twisted plot of having to kill who's currently the only orokin who had cared for the tenno.

That thought aside I would agree to this fight if she's going to be a tough boss that won't have a phase end in 1 hit

Thank yourself. Reading "Dread Mother" in the title made me think of it. If it ends up as a twisted Margulis or Lotus doppleganger it'd be pretty awesome for her to interfere with lotus communications so you can't tell if lotus is saying it or if it's the Vathma until you arrive, in which case it becomes more obvious of who's speaking, either by implications or physical appearrance changing between transmissions. Perhaps the objective pretending to be extraction while another is an actual extraction point?

thoughts that came through my mind for quotes in this route would perhaps be

"Tenno, objective complete *static* proceed to extraction"

"I'm detecting a life form on the ship, proceed to investigate it." and as you get closer "Tenno I've identified the life form, oh no. *static* proceed to extraction" and as you approach extraction, another extraction point shows on the map. "Tenno *static* it's blocked off extraction *static* please hurry *static* I've opened up another spot for extraction" (in which RNG will randomly pick which extraction is actually extraction) and if you go to the wrong extraction point it's marked with "Tenno, why are you *static and the transmission changes to Vathma, with a deformed voice* Lay down your arms and become one with us!!!" or the vathma taunting the player for choosing the wrong way.

Edit: if it's a margulis copy, perhaps have it actually identify you, possibly mentioning old memories to appeal to you to have you face the vathma

I love it! Why weren't you in my house when I was writing this?!? I will edit the OP in a while with some of the awesome you just laid down and credit you! Unless you'd prefer otherwise.

I actually don't really care if you want to credit it or not. Either way you're the creator, i'm just expressing a possibility that was triggered when reading the word "mother" in the title.
