Ronyn
Compromise. How about a frame with sword deflection mode as an ability?
Nyss
This could work, but making it drain stamina would be key so the player can't just block and run up until he's in melee. Using it to cover yourself the last few steps to a hiding place, or just before you can get a few melee shots in on your opponent would be good though. Daggers are the lightest weapons, and should cost the least stamina. Swords would cost slightly more dual swords would cost even more, but protect a wider area of your body heavy weapons shouldn't be usable for blocking bullets at all, as they are too heavy to maneuver finely and quickly. McGuffin
From another post of mine that's applicable here as well: "I was originally toying with making a post about making a stamina based blocking mechanic. It doesn't stop full incoming damage, but it deflects some attacks back to the enemy. It would be cool to see someone twirling the Bo at high speeds, redirecting plasma shots. But then, it would be faster to kill enemies just by shooting at them, and safer / less damaging to the player if they simply took cover :p Until we Tennos can 'tank' for teammates like the Shield Lancer does, sacrificing offense for low utility defence doesn't make much sense. I'd rather see some combos along the lines of 'Rhino's Iron Skin ability taunting enemies' before we have a 'press the shields / blocking button' mechanic." SilverBones
In both cases, you are a superhuman with a sword. In one case you're a techno space ninja and the other is a mystical force monk. They are actually quite similar. The biggest difference is that Jedi don't use guns (usually). "Urgh. So Uncivilized." -Obi-wan Kenobi on using a blaster. Big attitude difference there! :]
Shuriko
I think deflecting or cleaving bullets with the swords could be a nice slice to the game. And to keep it from being too much overpowered it could heavily drain the stamina bar.
Kingdrake
The stamina based blocked system would be fine, but what about the key you have to presso to activate the blocking? IMO, if they made melee weapons "equippable" (Like standing with unsheated weapon) it would be simpler: Just Right-clicking with unsheated weapon would make you assume the blocking stance. Plus, running around with weapon unsheated looks really badass
