[Suggestion] Capture Mission Subtype – Cooperative Carry Door Busting Laser Cannon

Situation: The capture target has barricaded himself into the ship’s safe room. You will not be able to enter it by normal means. We have provided you with a tool to get to the capture target…

 

This is a capture mission subtype idea; a cooperative mission that runs best when all squad members work together to quickly carry and protect a laser cannon on the way to the target’s location, then slowly melting the way in. This mission has a greater chance of appearing when the squad is full.

 

The laser cannon itself has multiple handles in different locations which players can ‘mount’ themselves on; affecting the way and direction the cannon is dragged. The more squad members carrying the cannon, the faster it can be moved to the target location.

  • 4 Squad members: Cannon can be carried at normal walking speed
  • 3 Squad members: Cannon is carried with a penalty to walk speed
  • 2 Squad members: Cannon is carried with a large penalty to walk speed
  • 1 Squad member: Cannon is dragged very slowly

It is possible to ‘sprint’ while carrying the cannon in a group, if everyone carrying the cannon ‘sprints’ at the same time they will move the cannon at a faster rate, but at an increased stamina cost. However if one member ‘sprints’ while the others aren’t prepared, there is a chance that everyone else will be knocked down and the sprinter finding him/herself slowly dragging the cannon singlehandedly.

 

The cannon can be placed and used anywhere as a weapon against enemies during a level, but needs to build up charge after use. Players can sacrifice warframe energy to quickly charge the weapon. When the cannon is in use, it will fire a continuous larger version of the beams seen in the Orokin void levels until its energy runs out. Any enemy or Tenno that gets caught in the beam will be killed.

 

 In addition to carrying the cannon to the target’s location, players will also have to protect it. The cannon itself should be fairly tough, but will fall under sustained fire. But as an added mechanic, non-infested enemies can take control of the cannon and will attempt to target Tenno in total disregard of their allies crossing the beam’s path.

 

Capture missions of this type should have an alternate capture room design; entrance to the capture target is a regular door, preceded by a number of heavy blast doors based on difficulty of the mission. Low level missions will feature few blast doors and defenses, while higher level missions may have multiple blast doors behind each other. The laser cannon will be used to destroy those blast doors; players can damage the blast doors with their own weapons and abilities, but will find that it will take too long to whittle down the door’s HP.

I hope the idea will make the mission fun  regardless of how one intends to play with a group. Since everyone will need to cooperate one way or another if they want the mission to easily succeed, however I fear the rage involved when the mission fails and all the blame gets rubbed around.
