Wukong's "hidden" primal fury nerf

Personally this is a hidden buff for me, I've grown so tired of the staff shrinking that I've taken most of the range out of my build. The default range with Primed Reach is enough for me to enjoy the ability without working myself up trying to keep the combo counter.

However, I am disappointed. I can't  understand how this bug/change would get through. Clearly the code there has been altered, but for what purpose? Was someone at DE messing around and forgot to change it back? Did nobody catch it? I don't understand coding, so I'm sure I'm showing my ignorance, but how does a completely unrelated statistic on a frame that hasn't received any changes in since release get changed?

I'm all for Wukong getting some love, I've even asked for a major rework, but secret small tweaks aren't the answer.
