How does gross income work?

I always thought it shows all of the money you have gathered in total throughout your entire play through. But I just did a mission where the mission credit reward is 18K but my gross income only increased by 3k.

Just curious as to if someone knows how gross income works in WF.

That is a good question, DesuTronic. Could it perhaps affect the credits picked up during the mission rather than mission rewards themselves?
Has anyone tested this yet? I've seen some threads indicating the existence of an UI bug.
