As you can see, Tut is the abbreviation of the full name and since he was very young when he ruled, it's understandable that he's got an abbreviation as his nickname. Caught my dad watching reruns of the cheesy series and oddly enough saw King Tut. He must have been embarrassed cause he switched channels right away.
