Ability Snapshotting

Question

How does buff snapshotting work with channeled/toggled abilities?  The wiki claims that energy conversion snapshots for the duration, but what about other buffs?  And is it only power stat buffs, or other buffs?

 

Example:  Ember has WoF active.  Ember is hit with a heat proc.  Does WoF stay at its original power, or increase during the proc?  If ember turns it off and on again during the proc, will it then gain the 35% extra power for as long as it stays on?

 

What if she gains void corruption?  Does she again need to recast to benefit?  Will the strength and range both persist after the corruption ends as long as WoF remains active?

 

Does Equinox' provoke act the same for allies' casts?

 

What about non-power related buffs?  Let's say our ember gives a Mesa fireball frenzy, and right before it wears off Mesa begins channeling Peacemaker.  Will the damage boost remain throughout, or only until the buff expires?  If we cast on a mesa already in action will she gain the buff or nothing?

 

How about other weapon ults?  Excalibur and Valkyr I guess would keep the increased base damage from power strength since theirs is a full channel?  What about Ivara since hers is more of a toggle with a cost per shot?

 

And how about Smeeta's charm?  If Valkyr begins hysteria under its effects, will the channel be free forever?  Is she invincible until nullified or drained to 0 via parasitic eximi?

Channeled powers will work and remain at the power statistics they had when cast.

When Smeeta pops its free energy cost, it will only stop a channeled ability from draining energy for the 10 seconds it is active. It doesn't actually affect power efficiency. It just refunds the costs of any energy as they are being spent. Which you can clearly see if you have a laggy host. You also can't use an ability during that time if you don't have the energy that would be required to use it if it wasn't free.

The snapshot of modifiers happens when the ability (any kind of ability) is activated.

To answer to your examples;

  • If Ember recieves a heat proc or void corruption then she needs to recast WoF to benefit from it. And they will persist as long as WoF doesnt end.
  • Provoke does work in the same way, enter the effect radius, cast your abilities and then theres no real reason to stick around.
  • Buffs like Fireball Frenzy explicitly increase weapon damage, when they expire on the recipient abilitiy weapons do not keep them.
  • Once (no energy cost) Charm wears off channeled abilites will drain as they normally would.
