using abiltys

i dont no why this is black but anyway.

i have  Excalibur  and i cant get this 1st ability to work. it worked when i first started the game by just pressing number 1.

i am sure this is dumb. what am i missing.

Do you have the option for "use abilities on selection" toggled on?
