Farming And Efficiently Using Your Time

Taking some time with fellow Clan members, I gathered up some numbers from farming runs. Note that each run was gathered by either 2-3 Warframes, playing the objectives (run-n-gun), done in a string of 5 runs per average, unless otherwise noted, and was done using the RNG of the stage. Here are the results, so that other Tennos may learn. Please note that your mileage may vary. Conclusion at the bottom.

 

Palus - Defense on Pluto

Avg Time: 4:54

Avg Mods: 2.4

Avg Kills: 82.6

Rewards: Banshee Helm BP, Hellfire x2, Barrel Diffusion, Streamline

 

Xini -Defense on Eris

Avg Time: 5:48

Avg Mods: 5.2

Avg Kills: 169.2

Rewards: Heated Charge, Fusion Core (UC), Tier 2 Key x2, Banshee Helm BP

 

Hydra - Capture on Pluto

Avg Time: 4:23

Avg Mods: 2.6

Avg Kills: 73.4

Rewards: Ammo Drum, Vitality, Quick Draw, Fast Deflection, Magazine Wrap

 

Apollodorus - Capture on Mercury

Avg Time: 2:17

Avg Mods: 1.8

Avg Kills: 21

Rewards: Banshee Chassis BP, Magazine Wrap, Quick Draw x2, Trick Magazine

 

Capro - Exterminate on Jupiter

Avg Time: 3:50

Avg Mods: 2.4

Avg Kills: 76.8

Rewards: NA

 

Carne - Raid on Jupiter

Avg Time: 3:49

Avg Mods: 0.8

Avg Kills: 32

Rewards: Vitality, Fast Deflection, Magazine Wrap, Quick Draw, Quick Rest

 

Epimetheus - Deception on Saturn

Avg Time: 3:02

Avg Mods: 0.6

Unda - Spy on Venus

Avg Time: 3:04

Avg Mods: 1.6

Avg Kills: 16.8

Rewards: Ammo Drum, Fast Hands, Quick Draw, Vitality, Banshee Chassis BP

 

Ananke - Rescue on Jupiter

Avg Time: 2:35

Avg Mods: 1.4

Avg Kills: 40

Rewards: NA

 

Tessera - Sabotage on Venus

Avg Time: 2:55

Avg Mods: 1.6

Avg Kills: 36.8

Rewards: NA

 

Kappa - Mobile Defense on Sedna *only one run was done

Time: 16:29

Mods: 14

Kills: 488

Rewards: NA

 

Hydra - Defense on Sedna *one run to stage 10

Time: 15:26

Mods: 10

Kills: 388

Rewards: Piecing Hit

 

 

So, what can we draw from this data?

 

The enemies of the farming Tenno: Elevators, increases time by 2-30 seconds and pacing of action. Corpus cameras, increases time by 2-10 seconds and pacing. Double doors requiring two players, increases time on how long players take. Long stages, currently Grineer ships, increases time by 1-2 minutes. Additional missions, does not grant additional rewards and increases completion time by at least 1-3 minutes.

 

Using this and the data, we find that unless you need to complete these type of missions for alerts or map unlocks, do not farm for various reasons.

 

Do not farm: Sabotage, Rescue, and Deception.

 

This leaves the following missions: Defense, Capture, Exterminate, Raid, Spy, and Mobile Defense. Good farming is about using your time well. But there is a rule you have to understand in Warframe. You cannot efficiently farm Mods, Resources or XP all at the same. Without going into long details, this only leaves Defense and Capture. A graph below for those that want a little better detail.

 

Capture > Spy > Raid

Defense > Exterminate > Mobile Defense

 

Run Mercury Capture if you want quick low tier rewards. As the data shows, running higher level stages do not give better tier items. Until then, stick with Mercury.

 

Run Pluto Defense for mod farming. As you can farm a Pluto mission for three times as much as a single mobile defense, and with it starting at tier three rewards, it is the best choice. It does require some decent weapons to tackle, but is a better farm.

 

For pure XP farming, I don't like Mobile defense at all. It takes too long and if mods drop, they are shattered everywhere. Instead, run Grineer defense for XP farming. Instead of Kappa, do Hydra defense on Sedna. If you have a decent team, you can finish it faster than Kappa, 16:29 for Kappa vs 15:26 for Hydra, more elite units spawn in Defense missions, and all the mods drop within viewable sight. When XP farming, all these defense numbers go to at least stage 10.

 

For resource farming, we did not do, as there is no good method to rate it. Unless we pray to the RNG gods, do any mission that you feel is right. Oh, RNG gods, why do you taunt us mortals!?

 

This information may not surprise veteran Tennos, but data farming is always useful. Use data to built useful information. And then use that information to win, if the RNG gods are on your side.

You forgot about Olympus (mars) for farming salvage.  As a defense mission in a system where salvage is the only common resource, it's the best place to farm for it.

 

Xini is the best place to farm mods.  It's a small map and it's infested.  Infested don't use cover, spawn more mobs (more drops), and are melee only (easier to defend the pod).  Xini uses one of the smallest maps in the game too.  It's also the best place to farm for T2 and T3 keys because of how quickly you can finish the first 15 waves.

 

And mobile defense is unquestionably the best way to farm xp.  As long as you stay in the room with the objective you get more spawns and don't have the pauses between waves you get in defense.

Also Eris-Xini starts at Tier III like the Pluto Defense missions.

 

Farming specific mods, check http://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/1fwen5/defense_rewards_updated/ for detailed list of Defense rewards drop rates and what Tier and faction they drop from.

 

Most efficient way to get certain rare mods like multi-shot mods as well as Master Thief, Handspring, Thunderbolt and others.

LOL!

Does one run and defines "best", doesn't even do that well on it, and defines the alternative as "best".

A good team average 600+ kills on Kappa and averages 100-150k affinity per run.

Hell I could argue the point about xini/palus being the "best" for mod farming as well, what with being able to walk away with 20+ mods per mobile defense. Sure you can't get the specific ones tied to the defenses, but for general mod pickups, I'd still rate mobile defense as the best.
