affinity gain?

Question

Unless specified otherwise, all Affinity gained uses the same split: 25% of the amount goes to your Warframe and 75% of the amount is divided evenly among all equipped weapons (25% each for three, 37.5% each for two, or the full 75% if only one is equipped).

Read this in the wiki but somehow i still don't get it why solo play kills with a maxed weapon give zero affinity to non maxed weapons?

was using desecrate necros with max ignis in solo play but unranked secondary / melee weapon didn't get any affinity

What you got from the Wiki is correct, but it only applies to the affinity gained from teammates. When you kill with a weapon, all the affinity goes to that exact weapon and your frame. When you kill with the frame, it goes to the frame only.

So there are only 2 ways to rank a weapon: either kill with that weapon or let teammates kill stuff with you around.

Kills you do yourself are 50% to the weapon and 50% to the frame. If you killed it with an ability or weapon made by an ability like Valkyr or Excal then 100% goes to the frame.

In a group when another player kills an enemy their affinity gain gets distributed evenly among your items. This is why it's best to take off a weapon or two if you're looking to level something specific. Of course always bring one good weapon so you're not a leech.

In solo play you don't get affinity for a weapon unless you use it. There are some exceptions like mission rewarded exp is distributed through all your items.
