((I do mind, unfortunately. I've brought them in for a rather specific purpose, that'll tie in to the main plot fairly soon. Sorry.))

((I get that, though I think soul was also trying to get my characters in somewhat. Plus as you described it, they were searching the town, and since this place was in town, they'd at least send a few foot soldiers to investigate, leading to my previous post.))

Svytoj arrived just behind Mia and Aria. As he touched down, he worked to decrypt the meridians com traffic.
Svytoj carefully approached Aria, watching as she did here blood hound impersonation.

No trace of Sarah for miles - she had never come this way.

Why then, would the radio transmission point to here?

"I will." Svytoj and Chegar said at once.

Clogori interrupted suddenly.

"I decided not to kill him yet. As long as he's restrained, sedated, and nullified, we should be fine. After looking at his audio logs again, I decided we should study his mind, infection, and Artificial Intelligence. That might sound inhumane, but we already know he's numbed to most pain, and he's done some messed up stuff."

Svytoj moved towards the source of the transition, still keeping his scan for void signatures up.

"The longer you leave him alive, the longer you give His AI time to come up with a solution to his capture." Svytoj said bluntly over the private line.
"We're not going to tell you what to do, but that's a lot of risk for very little reward." Chegar added in.

(If the fact that the Tarnas we all know and despise was caused by years of isolation doesn't make you a bit sympathetic, tell me. I basically use these RPs to beta-test idea my ideas for sci-fi stories and would appreciate any criticism.)

(it feels...mechanical? Due to the lack of inflections, it reads like something out of a manual aside from log 281, 446, and the last one. Straight up dialogue doesn't carry tone over very well without descriptions, and implying stuff can get lost over the screen as well. I get that it's an audio recorder, but sounds alone can help in filling out what's going on in Tarnas' squishy mind. What's going on in the background, is it partying, gunfiring, training? Is Tarnas reading everything in a chipmunk voice? like Darth Vader? is Tarnas's tone nervous? angry? deadpan? breaking from sadness? A little can go a long way in terms of development.)

"whatever floats your boat. just be careful." Svytoj said.
"I'm gonna sign of. the guy I'm bartering with is getting antsy."Chegar said.
"and I need to get back to my search. Best of luck."
With that, Chegar and Svytoj close the connection.
"What do you be he brakes loose?" Chegar asked over the somatic link.
"20 plat."
"make it 50."
"You're On." Svytoj said with a chuckle as he continued to follow the signal.

"Alright, then." Clogori responded.

He had downloaded the entire folder containing the audio logs. He decided to watch some of the ones he had skipped.

(For your convenience, since these will be out of order, I'll also put the location these audio logs were made in. Also, I'm taking Souldrive's advice.)

STATUS UPDATE 442

LARUNDA RELAY

"So, we got our next mission." Tarnas said, sounding exhausted. "Taking out a Galleon full of Manics. I don't know why Tavus agreed to do this." Tarnas complained. "On the bright side, we're here in the Relay for the next day or so. This is the first time I've relaxed in the last six months." Tarnas sounded more optimistic at this point. "On an unrelated note, I talked to Harron about Bela. After a quick scan, which she doesn't know about, we've confirmed she doesn't have a contagious disease." Tarnas sounded relieved. "However, after scanning my brain activity for a while, we came to a different conclusion. On a side note, it was really weird being followed around by Harron for several hours."

"Harron's new theory is a bit more... strange. His guess is that my reactions to Bela aren't due to illness, but are... romantic in nature. I still don't believe him, and I think he's messing with me..." Said Tarnas, sounding confused. "Still, maybe I'll talk to Bela about it after our next mission. Anyway, that's about it."

END OF RECORDING

(For those of you who read audio log 446, and/or watched RWBY, I think you know how this whole thing ends.)

(that's a markedly huge improvement. Already Tarnas feels more *alive* than an unfeeling robot. Not that s/he can't *be* an unemotive robot, but this definitely lays a better groundwork on how they arrive at that point.)

(as a personal note, stamping a location on the logs is a great bit of info; gives us a general idea on where Tarnas is spilling their proverbial guts. I suggest retroactively adding locations and possibly a timestamp as well to all your previous logs but it's not necessarily required, just something that I feel can give the logs some more flesh)

(any idea on when Tarnas/Clogori will start beating up zombies with their bare hands though? I can't imagine that you want to constantly skip out on action scenes unless you're in a big worldbuilding stint, though that's also fine by me. iirc bowie's got zombie vines growing out on derelicts after betting scattered by the sandstorm (not necessarily *your* derelict though, that's up the DM himself)

(And now, quite possibly the greatest paragraph I will ever write in my life (No it isn't).)

STATUS UPDATE 1337

CRASHED FORMORIAN

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Tarnas took a deep breath and continued shouting. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Tarnas took another deep breath before screaming again. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

END OF RECORDING

(I'll let everyone interpret that themselves. Was it insanity? Was he going super saiyan? Was he impersonating Linkin Park? Did he watch the last few episodes of RWBY Volume 3?)

(Seriously, though, that was really just showing how Tarnas' sanity was affected by isolation and whatnot)

(I know I've posted twice in a row now.)

"Svytoj." Clogori said, both excited and panicked. "You should get to my ship as soon as possible. I finished scanning the stuff inside Tarnas. SCIENCE HAS OCCURRED."

(I've always wanted to say that last sentence IRL)

While he waited, Clogori turned his attention to a severely damaged Carrier sentinel that had been untouched for a while. He got to work trying to fix it, killing time until Svytoj showed up.

After several minute, banging could be heard coming from the ships entrance: like someone slamming their fist against the door every five seconds.

(*Knock knock knock* Clogori *Knock Knock knock* Clogori *Knock Knock knock* Clogori)

The door opened automatically, followed by Clogori shouting from the other side of the ship.

"Over here! I think I might have made a breakthrough!" Clogori shouting. Svytoj would also be able to hear music (You get to find out what it is next post).

The Frost entered the ship, looking over the various equipment. He eventually came across Tarnas in his restraint.
well...looks like you're having a bad time.. He thought with a mild chuckle.
He approached Clogori.

Music was being played by the Sweeper Clogori was working on earlier, the shotgun being replaced by speakers.

"So, anyway, I made a bit of a breakthrough studying that bacteria Tarnas was infected with." Clogori said, excited.
