Question about The War Within *Spoilers*

So I finished the War Within, and now my Operator can go outside the warframe.  That's cool and all, but my question is, why would I want to?  The Operator is squishy, considerably slower than even the slow warframes, and doesn't do all that much damage.  Am I missing something? Is there any reason to ever actually use these abilities aside from Kuva farming?  Is there a way to improve the Operator somehow?

Kuva missions and the laser resets stalker's and Sentient's damage resistance

No way to improve them yet, but you can also use them when fighting Sentients and Shadow Stalker to remove their damage resistance. Use the Blast or Beam (don't remember off hand) on them.

The beam pops magnetic orbs. Already proved useful to me.

The dash allows you to bypass some lasers in some spy vaults (at least it used to).
