Despair Or Acrid?

So i've just max'd and potatoed my Acrid and it's a beast... but i kinda dislike the semi-auto fire (i was so used to my Kunai!)

Now i still miss (and look for) Despair and i was wondering which one of the 2 was actually the very best one...

Any consideration is welcome!

i have all 3 both the Despair and Kunai lots of dmg but not a scratch on Acrid as far as i can see the big thing is the two v slots on the knifes saves forma but at high levels with large armor the acid comes out on top

this is just my opinion

In terms of actual DPS

Acrid > Despair > Kunai

However, if you aren't a fan of the Acrid's style, then stick with Despair.

Personally I just use Twin Vipers, as they're the most fun.

I have to do a test with the Acrid to see if you can get Sonar to effect the DoT. If you can't, Despair beats Acrid if you have Sonar and can hit it.

Welp, once you get Despair, you may wish to retire your Kunai.

The only enemies Despair does reduced damage to are Infested Chargers, Infested Crawlers, and Phroid. Medium Grineer it does 1.5x, and corpus heads take an extra x2 (on top of the headshot x2). Ancients, it deals more damage simply because it has a higher base damage.

EDIT: Since apparently it wasn't obvious, this post is comparing Kunai and Despair, >>>NOT<<< Despair and Acrid

Acrid has better single target DPS as well as being hitscan but Despair doesn't have to deal with a DoT and you can sometimes hit multiple enemies.

Edit: yeah, it's not hitscan. I haven't used it in so long I forgot. Derp.

I have both, and I would choose Acrid over Despair any day, whether it's for wielding a hilariously over-sized pistol or having extremely high firepower.

what about the fact Acrid missing Polarities? is that a big handicap? Because i didnt want to forma it... (well max 1 time for now...)

Yes, you'll have to polarize it multiple times to see its absolute full potential. I say it's very well worth doing so.

Like everything i guess... i'll give it 1 as i said, maybe 2 if i'll have more formas, but that's it, thx for the advice :)

PS: out of curiosity how many times did you forma it?

Biggest bullS#&$ ever. Acrid is not hitscan. One of the slowest projectile speeds of all guns.

Ancients, it deals more damage simply because it has a higher base damage.

acrid has 25 base dmg yes, but it ignores armor, also it deals 4 ticks from the dot (dot is 75% of the base dmg), in the end it will deal more dmg than the despair

Despair is overpowered and is probably set to be nerfed. Also, the auto-fire of Despair is just until the glitch is fixed, then it will be changed back to what it should be.... semi-auto.

Acrid is powerful, but it's a clan weapon so it'll probably stay the same. The semi-auto on it works very well.

Acrid for permanence.

Edit: Actually, Despair probably won't be nerfed, but auto will be switched to semi-auto again. (like it used to be). Probably won't be nerfed because it's a stalker weapon and shouldn't be.

It doesn´t do exactly do 100 base dmg, because 25*0,75 = 18.75 gets rounded down to 18, so it is 97 dmg total, not that that matters...

18,75*4 = 75... + 25 = 100, lol

edit: oh you mean once rounded... well i guess a 0.75 should be rounded to 1 rather than to 0, so maybe it becomes 103, whatever

I have both of them and prefer the acrid. Despair rocks but I find myself wasting ammo when I dont need to throw more at an ancient who won't vanish. Only downside to acrid is the sound. Sounds like an 80s porno mod to space invaders.

Spurt spurt ploit.
