Massive network issues. Network not responding making the game unplayable.

Background: I have been playing the game for more than a year without issues. A couple weeks ago, I started having connection issues. First, the launcher. It would say, update failed, all the time. If I were lucky to be able to run the game, ingame I started having a lot of "network not responding" messages constantly, making the game barely playable. Researching, I found out that a lot of people from my country (Chile) were having problems, same with some people in Europe. There were a lot of threads about the issue in this forums. Not a single answer from DE staff. The problem solved by itself after about a week of frustration, and I could play the game normally again for some time.

Now: Today I started having issues again, however, this time is even worse. First the launcher takes a couple of minutes to check for updates. Then, when I get to the log in screen, after I enter my password it starts displaying "network not responding" and after a lot of time it finally says "login failed, check info" or something like that. That or I am able to get into the game after a couple minutes of waiting. The game is unplayable though. Accessing arsenal, mods, navigation, just waiting in my orbiter, trying to do a mission, anything, starts with the "network not responding messages and sometimes the whole game simply freezes.

I called my ISP (VTR) and they directed me to their game tech area. The guy there told me they indeed received a lot of complaints from users, but they checked all their network and international connections and it was all working correctly. He also said it was a problem with DE, and apparently, according to him, DE made took some corrective measures, hence why the game started working normally after the issues some weeks ago. He also said that now it was probably again an issue with DE. We did general network troubleshooting and all is working correctly. So it's not and issue with my internet provider, my PC or my connection.

It's getting really frustrating. Game is unplayable right now. I would really appreciate some kind of comment from DE.

PS: I wanted to add that using a free VPN like hide.me, connecting to a server in Canada, makes the game playable again. But it's a limited account so I won't be able to use it for more than a couple days.

PS2: Friends living in USA and Canada can play the game, but they are having random network not responding issues too, just not as frequently as mine. Chat disconnecting is a common issue too.

i heard that too about people from Chile having problems, i didnt have those(also not from Chile), but i think this time is a different thing as its affecting people all around during the last days ,15-16-17, with network problem and errors.

Today warframe did feel really strange, lagging weirdly a lot of times.

Maybe they were doing some maintenance or working on something ?

sure can be frustrating, but idk... patience?  (also because you though it was important to state how long you have played, 2013 veteran here)

This sounds more like an issue with the ISP if people from a specific region are affected. You guys tried changing DNS settings? Maybe try switching it to Google DNS? I had similar issues before, but after using Google DNS, everything was fixed.

Playing from Asia here.

I tried, it didnt work. Also its not the ISP, its just many people use VTR, but this issue is not related to the ISP and only happens with Warframe. Everything else is fine, i have a 80Mbps connection that works fine, i can play anything else with no issues, watch streams, download or whatever, its only warframe. Also, as stated by OP, it seems this is starting to spread to other regions, if so i hope it gets fixed soon.

It sounds like it, but did you read my first post? My ISP supposedly did a check and their networks are working correctly.

Doing a speedtest using a server in London, Canada, I tend to agree, it's working fine: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/7321417424

I tried using Google DNS but it didn't work, as expected. DNS servers just resolve names to ip addresses, nothing else. The network issues are because of some trouble connecting to the DE servers, DNS servers have nothing to do with it.

I'm having the same issues. 2-3 days ago I started having random "Network not responding" issues, then it became an problem to join/let people join my sessions. It would either take forever for me/them to load in, it would crash after some time, or it would just disconnect me. Please I think enough people is having issues to have DE to say something about this :(.

PS: Also from Chile. VTR is my ISP. (also a 2014 veteran player here)

Since we are all having the same problem, can someone else call VTR and ask again?

Perhaps they will try to investigate more if more people call. Maybe they end up finding something, maybe not.

My guess still is that it's a problem with DE servers.

Same problem, also from Chile and using VTR.
It's only been happening for 2 days in my case, since update 22.20, but it's rather annoying and unplayable at times.

It's sad because I liked new saryn and they're already saying they're going to change her soon, and I was only able to use her in a couple onslaught missions 😕

dont use the vtr default dns. use opendns, google dns is having the same issue

That worked, thanks.

For everyone else, here's how to do it in win10: https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/228007207-Windows-10-Configuration

how to do it in other OS https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/sections/206253647

and how to flush dns afterwards, which I think is necessary https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/227988627

It's pretty simple actually.

Tested using ISP DNS, Google DNS, and OpenDNS.

ISP DNS and Google DNS give issues.

Open DNS indeed fixes the problem. Logging into the game, accessing arsenal, inventory, mods, etc. doesn't end in a freeze or a lock up. Thanks for the tip.

Now, this makes me wonder. Is this indicative of a mayor issues with DE servers? i.e. some routes to their servers around the internet are not working reliably? There was even someone from Austria in this thread having problems too.

It's a shame we kind of had to figure things out ourselves, but anyway, if someone from DE is reading, looks like you have some mayor issue with your server network.
