Trader/enemy Concept - Corpus Collector [With Concept Art]

While playing Warframe, I have noticed in the past months that the Grineer and the Infestation have received a lot of updates, whereas the Corpus are sitting pretty behind watching things. When I learned about (and unfortunately encountered) a Grineer Manic, I got this idea of having a Corpus equivalent.

And since there was a Devstream that revealed the possible appearance of female Corpus characters, I got the idea of making a female assassin-like character that can match the Stalker, Alad V's Zanuka, the Grustrag Three and the Manic - only, instead of operating alone, she operates a team, thus her original moniker the "Operative". But a friend commented that "operative" may be confused with that of Tenno "operators", and thus suggested a better name: the "Collector", since she is just good at that, collecting rare items from the Void, collecting debts for Corpus loan sharks or Syndicate overlords... and collecting weapons from Tenno she defeated to study on (and return later via Darvo).

There are two ideas regarding her presence in Warframe: she has a "peacetime" job as a merchant with a special partnership with Darvo, and an "other time" activity.

The "Peacetime" Trader

"There's nothin' better soundin' than the clinking of ducats in a full purse."

I tried checking out ideas that are parallel to mine, and I came across the thread below. So I'll be borrowing some concepts on this thread, in particular on trading systems and ideas on items, to improve some of my ideas (acknowledgement to BeeOverlord :D)

The idea is that she is going to drop off some items to Darvo's Market in Tenno Relays to sell in exchange for (tens, hundreds or thousands of) Ducats, to help Darvo erase the smile from Baro'KiTeer. Why doesn't she do the selling herself and has to form a partnership with Darvo, you might ask? The long story's in the proposed lore for her, but to shorten things up she actually has no talent in business.

She'll be mostly dropping off stolen experimental Corpus or Grineer tech (I'm thinking of some sort of casing that will prevent the decay of Argon Crystals as an example). Then she also has these "first-come, first-served special offers" that will sell very rare items in fixed numbers such as upgraded weapons (Wraiths and Vandals, much to Baro's dismay) or even Prime blueprints - including those that are no longer obtainable in the Orokin Void such as Frost Prime parts, giving new players a glimmer of hope in getting a hand on these delicacies. NOTE: Founder Primes not included. Give our founders respect, please :) She can also sell support charges that requests her personal warship, the Liberator, to provide fire support to Tenno in Archwing missions.

As the Collector's deals in Tenno territory are subject to Tenno rules of honor, she has to be bound to selling restrictions, such as making "special offer" items available only to those who do not possess the Prime Equipment in their inventory. This should more or less avoid abuse on the part of crafty players who already have them and plan to cash in on them by selling to other players.

And unlike Baro, who prefers announcing to the public the date of his arrival, the Collector's trade depot appears randomly, encouraging players to frequent Relay Stations and check out Darvo's room. This is in view of the idea that loots from her raids sometimes are bountiful and at times are scarce.

At times she's not selling, she'll sometimes appear in Relays to "receive missions" from some needy individuals for her gang - and smirk on her "past victims" of her spending her "other time". She does have some special affinity for the Perrin Sequence guys, in the same manner as Clem is very much welcome in Steel Meridian.

List of Suggested Items for Sale in this Trader using Ducats

NOTE: This particular trader specializes with items raided from Grineer, Corpus, Infested and Orokin territories. As much as possible, leave the mods and shiny cosmetics to Baro'KiTeer (unless they're too rustic for his tastes).

Notations:

--- common

>>> limited numbers

*** limited to one purchase per Collector appearance per player

--- Argon Crystal Preservation Device Blueprint - adds a permanent foundry recipe for allowing the stashing of Argon Crystals in your inventory

--- Liberator Support Charges x 10 - requests for fire support from the Liberator battleship for Archwing missions

>>> Experimental Radiation Arresting Device (ERAD) - component casing needed for an Argon Crystal Preservation Device (NOTE: one ERAD per Argon Crystal)

>>> Random Weapon Slot Expansion Items***:

>> Grineer Weapon Case - grants an inventory weapon slot for Grineer-designed weaponry

>> Corpus Armament Box - grants an inventory weapon slot for Corpus-designed weaponry

>> Orokin Growth Suppressor Matrix - grants an inventory weapon slot for Infested weaponry

>> Orokin Display Rack - grants an inventory weapon slot for Tenno-designed and Prime weaponry

>>> Random Prime Blueprints*** - costly blueprints (compared to trying to farm them in Void runs instead) including those officially phased out from Void missions (such as Frost Prime components) to give new players a small glimmer of hope in getting a hand on these delicacies (NOTE: leave Founder Primes to founder players)

The "Other Time" Duelist (requires at least MR6)

"You know what your problem is, sister? You have killed so many that you underestimate all your enemies. And here's mah answer to that!"

With her "the other time" activities, I somehow visualize her like the one below, about to shoot a charged stungun round at a poor Tenno before the "Mission Failed" screen appears:

The Mechanics: Corpus Collector

To get the Collector's attention, a Corpus crewman should be able to succeed in setting an alarm during a mission. But unlike the Grineer Manic she's, well, kind of diplomatic. If she sees the alarm as something "potentially beneficial" she'll send you a recorded message during your mission, informing you of a "proposal" once you finish the mission (success or failure does not matter). Back at the Liset, she'll send you a mail about this "proposition" - pay her an indemnity of credits for "paying off the families of the crewmen you have slain" (or any other absurd-sounding idea) or "suffer the consequences the next time you step into Corpus territory". If you accept, she'll leave you alone, saying that "you are wise to help the slain crewmen's children go to school" or something. She'll also give you special discounts at her shop for your wise decision.

But of course the more exciting thing is if you refuse. On your next endeavor into Corpus territory, the Collector will mark a red area on your map where you will be able to face her. Once you enter the marked area, she'll activate the door locks, trapping players who chose to fight. Depending on the size of your party, she may come alone or together with her elites, but she'll always be with her personalized Ospreys. You will have to defeat her to press on.

The Collector herself is a stealthy Sniper, carrying around a modified version of a gilded Tenno sniper rifle (yes, it's the Vectis Prime) that she modified using Corpus technology to make it more effective. She maintains her stealth with the help of two black Osprey-like devices called Ravens, with glowing golden tails that act like disruptor devices to cloak her position. To reveal her position, you have to take out the Ravens first. Once you take out the flying nuisance and her position revealed, you can choose to either start a crossfire or attempt to engage her in melee - which at this point she'll switch to a modified Skana to fight back, at times hurling cryogenic grenades to offset a Tenno's melee superiority.

In cases the Collector does bring along her friends, there will be three of them. One of them carries a modified Grineer Ignis that spews cryogenic fluid (or a Corpus Glaxion) at the target player to slow him or her down, allowing her to easily finish off her target. Another carries a Corpus-designed shotgun to act as a shocktrooper and engage the target player's friends. And the third one (that old, grizzled Corpus who does not wear standard Corpus helmets but does have a protective thing on his head) is a fellow sniper and her mentor (I'm considering that he's Arn Etina, the retired boss from Pluto), but will focus on others. All three of them carry rocket pads for vertical maneuvering.

Repercussions of Defeat

Old idea:

If the Operative succeeds in taking down her target, she'll teleport to the downed player's position, and a cinematic will play in a fashion similar to the Grustrag Three's. She'll aim a stun-gun on the target, charge it up and then shoot - triggering the "Mission Failed" sequence. There will be two possible consequences in losing to her: she'll take DOUBLE the indemnity she asked for from your account (if you got the funds); or she'll take some of your equipped firearms if your funds are insufficient (she'll still take whatever you have left anyway).

In cases your firearms get confiscated, Darvo will come to the "rescue". He'll send you a mail on choosing possible options of recovering your weapons. He'll either trace down the Operative's last known whereabouts and point you to a star map node where she most likely stashed the items; if you choose this option, you'll have to find and raid her stash on the star map node to recover them. Alternatively, Darvo can do the "recovering" himself, sending you a crate containing your weapons after your next mission. Both actions cost credits, of course.

Updated idea:

If the Collector succeeds in taking down her target, she'll teleport to the downed player's position, and a cinematic will play in a fashion similar to the Grustrag Three's. She'll aim a stun-gun on the target, charge it up and then shoot - triggering the "Mission Failed" sequence. Upon returning to the Liset, you'll realize that the weapons you equipped during the encounter against her is gone.

In this regard Darvo will come to the rescue. He'll send you a mail where he tells you that her "niece" informed him of what happened to you, and that your weapons are most likely used for "studies". He'll also inform you that she'll be returning the weapons three hours later, and that you can pick it up in Darvo's relay depot.

Rewards

Old idea:

If she is defeated (only she and her Ospreys are needed to be defeated to complete the encounter), she'll call in a third reserve Osprey that will detonate mid-air in a blinding flash, and once the flash wanes she and her friends are out of sight. Upon her disappearance, she'll drop valuable goodies - possibly even blueprints of her modified weapons. Why she's carrying blueprints of her own weapons? Whether she keeps them for a scheme to produce them en masse and gain profit or for another reason, who knows...

If ever she had beaten you on duels beforehand and then finally beat her, she'll send you the credits (or a fraction thereof) she took from you. She'll say along the lines that "the experience her group gained are, at the moment, better than the credits she took". What we may know, she might even send you other "gifts" such as Ducats.

Updated idea:

If she is defeated (only she and her Ravens are needed to be defeated to complete the encounter), she'll call in a third reserve Raven that will detonate mid-air in a blinding flash, and once the flash wanes she and her friends are out of sight. Upon her disappearance, she'll drop valuable goodies - possibly even blueprints of her weapon attachments

The Mechanics: Syndicate Collector

Alternatively, she can become a Syndicate's debt collector. The enemy Syndicate leader will appear and send his or her (or its, in case of Cephalon Suda) usual "you'll learn your lesson" message, but the Collector will butt in and clarify that she has no intention of killing you since her contract simply states "teaching a lesson" and that a dead Tenno will never learn his or her lesson. Also, unlike in normal Syndicate death squads where Tenno can run away, once she sends her message the doors in all rooms will be locked - possibly separating the targeted player from his or her squadmates (moral of the story: stick together as a squad) - and they will reopen only if either the targeted Tenno or the Collector claims victory. Fighting her squad will be similar to the ones stated in the previous section, but she'll not bring her Ravens with her, and you have to defeat her entire squad and force them to flee.

In case the Collector and her squad claims victory, she'll simply leave you behind, saying that she'll be collecting payment from the Syndicate who hired her. In case of defeat, on the other hand, she has a chance to drop very rare stance mods.

Possible Lore

"Ah got no talent for business, yes, but judging a Ballista by how she loves the Lotus will never make her good to Tenno eyes."

The Collector is a young (by young, that means young in normal human terms - we should know Darvo's already around a century old) Corpus prodigy in one of the merchant cult's military schools. She is well aware of one set of Corpus failures against the Grineer, from the Corpus defeat in the Gradivus Dilemma to the destruction of a prominent Corpus fleet in front of a Balor Fomorian and Frohd Bek himself barely escaping. She accepts these failures as something that is part of a war with a numerically superior, albeit technologically impeded, enemy.

The other set of Corpus failures that befuddles her, however, are those that involve the numerically inferior, "ideologically stupid" Tenno. These so-called harbingers of honor and keepers of balance make use of antiquated weapons based on "bastardized" Orokin designs and barely have the numbers to operate a single Corpus merchant ship. Yet her people fear them, and the High Council will go on an uproar when discussing things about the Tenno, be it in the form of trade deals, alliances of convenience, or conflict. The idea that the Tenno possesses Warframes would be one thing, but the now renegade Alad V have had some successes in studying these specialized suits - and in the end, they are still just suits.

"There must be something these Tenno possess that my people can learn from," she stipulates. "Once I find out and learn their ways I might be able to teach my people of something that will ensure Corpus domination".

However, there is one social problem that impedes her progressive views - she's a talented soldier and engineer, not a skilled businesswoman. Her family was ostracized for being impoverished after unsuccessful business endeavors and the destruction of its merchant fleet - the latter suspected to be of Tenno design. She doesn't have the resources nor the acumen to start and run another merchant fleet which is the ultimate symbol of gaining social position among the Corpus.

Then, all of a sudden, market forces sided in her favor: Nef Anyo needed a skilled mercenary to work for him in gathering Orokin technology. She informed some of her fellow impoverished colleagues regarding the opportunity and told them to apply as a team. Utilizing her exceptional talent in strategic planning, her team made a lot of successful raids and a lot of profit.

In a void raid in her early days, she almost lost her life - or sanity, if ever the Corrupted can even be made to speak. In a miscalculated move an Orokin drone caught up with her and attached a corrupting device on her face. Her aged sniper mentor (thinking of Aen Etina) had managed to shoot down the device off her face, releasing her from an undesirable fate. That event, however, permanently left a scar on her face in the form of gilded veins around her blinded upper left eye. Ironically, the unfortunate scars gave her a very fortunate status since it serves as a symbol of brevity and enterprise for the Corpus and she gained even more followers in the process. Yet ahe does not want to share how she felt - or what she saw - during that close encounter with being corrupted.

Her strings of successes strained her employer Nef Anyo's greed, however. Realizing that her team's growing reputation means a continuously exponential increase in payment (and a potential threat to his position in the Corpus Board), Anyo decided to cut off all ties. Deprived of an employer, but learning a lot of things from her team's raids, she decided to make their service available to anyone - regardless of alignment - who can afford to pay her fees. For the Corpus, they sabotaged a client's rival fleets to boost social standing. For the Grineer, they aided their genetic research via raiding Orokin libraries. And for a certain Tenno (or "Tenno"), it is alleged, they performed assassinations.

Now unquestionably wealthy and recognized by Corpus society (and her true identity still kept in secrecy), the Collector has the means and the influence to gather information about the Tenno, their methods... and their weaknesses...

How she has managed to curry Darvo's favor (to the point that she can call him "Uncle") is debatable. The only possible link to Frohd Bek's favored son is the rumor that Darvo himself is a rather skilled gunsmith, and that she learned her weapon tinkering skills from him.

Idea sketch of the Collector's Liberator:

warframe%20idea%20-%20corpus%20collector

Ship History

The "Liberator" is an aging, but nevertheless mighty, Corpus battleship - and is currently the only ship classified as a "battleship" that continues to operate under Corpus control.

Decades before the Tenno's reawakening, the Grineer and the Corpus were on an arms race for building the mightiest of warships. In the early years of the race both were on equal terms, and so winning a space battle means having the most badass of weapons and the heaviest of plating. The Grineer had always possessed numerical advantage due to massive cloning programs and so they always possessed a large fleets, whereas the Corpus relied on technological superiority. The epitome of the latter's energy-based weaponry was the introduction of the massive Gauss cannon - and if one cannon is not enough, the Corpus board of that time thought, six on a single deck would be far more convincing. They called these mighty battleships the "Liberator" class as a sign that they are now ready to break Grineer domination.

It turned out, however, that the Liberator-class had way too much firepower - and too little protection. A single Gauss cannon was already enough to obliterate a Grineer galleon and was a match for the Fomorian warship from long range, and the enemies responded with small and mobile raiding squads composed of space-fighters such as the repurposed Ogma to harass and render a Liberator's three-gun turret out of commission. The Board therefore decided to realign the massive budget initally allotted to battleship construction, and instead focus on smaller but more mobile Gauss frigates and the ubiquitous Escort Carrier class. The Liberator battleships that were built were, save for two as reserve, scrapped and reused for frigate construction.

When the Grineer unfurled a plan on a massive project to increase the number of their Fomorian class warships, the Corpus Board reconsidered the commissioning of these battleships once more. When a Balor Fomorian tore through Frohd Bek's fleet the urge to rebuild them became stronger, and plans were hastily drafted to both recommission the two remaining Liberators (a six-turret full broadside is roughly equal to a Balor Fomorian's) and come up with a battleship design that is even much better and more efficient than the aging warships. Weeks later a winning design was chosen: it is sleeker than the bulky Liberator, theoretically has twice the punching strength, and requires less materials and lower maintenance costs. The design was almost given the go signal until, at Bek's own advice, they decided to wait, as it was not towards the Corpus but the to reawakened Tenno that Councilor Vay Hek diverted his mighty fleet to.

It later turned out that the plan to rebuild battleships was stil unnecessary: the Tenno effectively crippled the mighty Balor Fomorians with their Archwings, proving that small, mobile raiding squads are still more effective than massive warships. The Board therefore decided with finality that the last two Liberators in reserve were unneeded (as well as expensive to maintain, given the costs of mothballing these behemoths) and will be scrapped as war materiel - and in case they needed another battleship, the winning design is still around and can be used.

It was during the warship decommissioning ceremony that the Collector came in and disagreed with scrapping "historic symbols of Corpus might". She proposed to purchase one of the two ships for her mercenary group and serve two purposes: act as a spaceborne base of operations for more efficient ventures to gather Orokin relics, and a museum ship for both Orokin and Corpus history.

At first the proposal was considered outrageous, since the thought of a mighty warship being at the hands of a mercenary group would mean a potent bargaining chip that can be used against the Board (Nef Anyo, in particular, is vocal on his objections). The Collector, knowing that this issue might be raised, submitted a modified design for the three-gun turrets that will install regulators on the cannons' generators to reduce each one's power strength to a sixth of the original - in effect, the six guns will only be able to generate the output equivalent to a single cannon when fired in broadside, which is acceptable for a Corpus merchant ship (albeit with almost twice the range of a single Gauss cannon, which she reasoned is necessary for fire support when in hostile territory). And to further ensure that the weapons will be kept in check, she gave the regulators' access keys to Frohd Bek for safekeeping, noting that it is to the Board's discretion if they needed the full firepower of these cannons once more.

Thus the last of the mighty Corpus battleships has fallen into the hands of the Collector's Green Jackets, and unless the Board decides to build a new generation of battleships, it will remain the last one.

The Ship Under the Collector

While the Liberator retained most of its key components such as the port and starboard light guns, the deck strafing guns, the twin stern engines and, of course, the mighty Gauss turrets, it had undergone significant retrofitting and modifications to transform it from a warship into practically a mobile fortress.

The battleship's upper bow, originally bristling with light and medium guns, was replaced with a carrier quarters containing two catapult hangars for the Green Jackets' spacefighters and a spacious emergency bay for necessary repairs and - if worse comes to worst - escape protocols. The lower bow, on the other hand, was converted into a museum designed to receive supplies and guests who wish to view very rare Orokin relics and Corpus memorabilia on display.

The original Liberator suffered from slow mobility, with primary thrust and maneuver mechanisms relying on the twin engines located at the stern area. But thanks to the energy regulators installed in the main guns' power plants, any excess power unused by the cannons can be reallocated to the installed auxiliary thrust engines, giving it significant top speeds unimaginable for its size (though still comparatively slower compared to a Class 1 Frigate). The excess power can also be allocated in other areas of the battleship, including improved communications signals, extended repair and recovery services, and stronger air conditioning (a particular necessity when operating in areas pretty close to the Sun).

The battleship also possesses special energy pylons that not only give it added protection from incoming gunfire, but also damages any non-Corpus entity foolish enough to cross through - including unprepared Tenno who dare attempt to steal relics from the museum. The Collector got the idea from encounters with Grineer Shield Dargyns and oversized the idea into behemoth proportions, again thanks to the energy regulators for the main guns.

The Green Jackets installed a tower-like structure atop the command bridge and emblazoned it with a large Corpus emblem to symbolize the warship's affiliation with their people. Its purpose has been maintained a "trade secret" by the mercenary group, though speculations arose that it may be some sort of a secret weapon that will be unleashed at the direst of times.

Given the Liberator is a high value target (primarily because of its museum and secondarily because of the technology kept within its heavy frame), it never operates alone. The Collector's fleet includes two escort carriers, a scout carrier, three Class 1 frigates, five stealth destroyers and an unrevealed number of advance stealth sweepers, with the non-carriers provided by the Corpus Board. The fleet is still comparatively small to a 100-ship Grineer armada and its Corpus equivalent, but good enough to deter a concentrated assault because the range-improved Gauss turrets can simply outgun a non-Fomorian ship (the Tenno having earlier dealt a massive blow to the Fomorian fleet). In addition, since it is acting as a merchant fleet and not a battlegroup, Grineer authorities find no initiative to attack the small but formidable force (a humiliating loss is the worst taboo in the militaristic Grineer society) and will prefer to make trade concessions (the enemies are uninformed about the regulated power of the battleship's cannons).

Any suggestions on improving the idea is most welcome. :)

All nice and good, but her equipment seems off. Too much tinkering, and people will want to be able to use that stuff. Also, vandalized lato prime? Both lato vandal and prime are exclusives meant for beta testers and founders, so that's a no go. Besides, I doubt that people will be happy with another assassin, while the stalker is in such bad shape. First fix what we have, then add new stuff. Also, I don't think people will pay her to leave them alone, since it makes her feel like a goon, not an assassin. And I can already say that people will be angry about having to go special mission to retrieve their stuff AND losing credits.

interesting idea but I really don't want to to ever steal my stuff.

and paying her to get rid of her just seams a bit off since you can still loose money if you fall to her.

also her shooting you while you are down seams cool from the makers perspective, but from a players I bet it will be one of the rage inducing things ever.

just think about it. you are playing solo, you have just refused paying her as you really want a pet kubrow and she would have taken your kubrow credits.

then she starts to spawn, you think "AWW CRAP!" so you deploy a specter as quick as you can.

she snipes it in one hit. then she snipes you and then slowly walks over to you... you can't shoot her while downed, you can't revive and then you realize its a cut scene.

"you friggen what DE?" you think, then she shoots you in the face and steals your kubrow money and you know that in the next mission not matter how much you want revenge she will not come.

in rage you mash the escape key till the menu comes up and you quit warframe.

today was going fine until this happened...

and that is why with the way she currently works I do not want this assassin in the game.

@klops: True, those weapons she carries may be a bit off, but again, it just popped out of my mind. Well the idea is that the Operative doesn't care if she tinkers around with weapons - even ruin their aesthetic appeal, to the Lotus's disdain - as long as they will perform to her expectations (which stays true to Corpus weapon design philosophy of economy and performance over aesthetics and ergonomics). And the ambiguity if she's an assassin, a Robin Hood or a goon? That will actually make her personality all the more questionable. At the proposed lore she is Corpus, but she takes missions from the Grineer and even from the Tenno, and that might mean her allegiance can be questioned - or even change :)

@Drukenbagel: I believe the only thing she'll say is "If you can" :P

@Agentcheese: The credit-stealing idea can be revamped if necessary, like she's only getting a percentage of your credits if you agree to comply (the weapon-taking idea is about for those who refused to pay and then suddenly go on a spending spree so that they can maximize their credits before she takes it :P), but there should be some pressure on the side of players who refuse to comply to her demands - as well as better rewards for succeeding against her. Again, the Operative is just a proposal to match the Manic's effect on players on the Corpus side, thus the special means of potentially triggering her appearance (which will force players to consider going stealthy and silent rather than going Geronimo in Corpus territory). If a player is confident that he or she and friends can take on the challenge, then defy her, simple and fair.

Cool idea. Although, there is one problem...NO ONE TOUCHES MY BOOTYFUL DAKRA PRIME. I WILL REND THE FLESH FROM HER SKULL THEN WEAR HER SKULL AS A HELMET. BUT BEFORE THAT I WILL RIP THE LIMBS OFF OF HER ASSOCIATES WHILE SHE WATCHES. ONE. BY. ONE.

Stealing weapons is possibly something that will make new players stop playing. They don't have the credits or inventory to have a variety to pick from.

A percentage of your total credits? How do you explain this in the lore? I doubt Tenno go on the field carrying their "wallet".

I don't mind a Corpus ninja but taking things from the player is not good game design in my opinion.

@Tuuhea: Hmmmmm... That's a possibility for new players, so maybe make her start appearing once a player gains a certain rank level? Like maybe Rank 5, since she's most likely interested in skilled enough Tenno. She's essentially building up her own database on encounters against Tenno, and she prefers those she deemed skilled enough to gather intel on.

And about retaking weapons, I'm thinking it's just a normal mission (preferably Extermination or Capture missions so that the pace is determined by the player) - but there is  a location marked by Ordis where the stash is located, and all you have to do is break it and recover the weapon. I'm thinking that you'll be using another weapon in your arsenal to do the mission. In essence, the Operative taking your weapon is just some sort of annoyance, not really a game changer.

About the idea of getting credits, yeah, I don't have an idea on how to explain on the lore. Any suggestions on a possible penalty in exchange? Will try to think about something else while I'm at it. Or maybe you can recover all those credits she stole from you once you actually defeat her...

Interesting, but flawed.

Corpus use corpus tech because they manufacture it... it'd be wiser to sell primes and use what can be manufactured(more profit, easier replacement). So the primes thing doesn't make sense, and, further, loses a great opportunity for new unique/interesting corpus themed weapons.

The tracking described seems a bit OP(the stalker has been at this for centuries and even he takes a while to show up). It should be a much more unusual set up; say, if you leave a mission with an alerted unit left alive, you have a probability based on how much damage you took--if you didn't take much damage, they don't have anything to trace you with. The actual showing up should be a similar trigger--the longer alarms are sounded and the more damage you've taken, the higher the chance of her being tipped off.

As to your credit dilemma, it should merely be based upon the mission where you triggered her. Something like level squared. So if you triggered her in mission with lvl 1 guys, that's 1k credits. If you trigger her with level 40 guys, that's 1.6m credits. Players in those regions should have that amount available, but would always find it daunting.

So far as weapons taken, it should probably be limited to guns only(since melee cannot be disarmed, cf. drahkmasters), so that even new players won't be completely without gear. Darvo, of course, would be to the rescue, being able to offer you two options: He can activate a tracker for you for 1/8th the price she asked for, so you can find it yourself, or he can pull some shady deals and get it smuggled back to you for 1/5th the price("No violence involved, but no questions asked, Tenno. I have to keep some trade secrets, you know?").

@Llyssa: Interesting suggestions, sire :)

Alright, will start noting player suggestions on the first post to make it easier for readers to keep track - if I have time (I got this thing called "real life"... XD)

  • 3 weeks later...

Alright, back after having to deal with real life things XD

Anyway, I've been wondering about an alternative pastime for the Operative and her gang. I was thinking that she'll be having this special "partnership" with Darvo and help him slap a bag of Ducats on Baro'KiTeer's face. In this system, she'll drop off some of the goods she raided for the Tenno to purchase - in addition to smirking upon seeing some of her "past victims" (or giving due respect to those who beat her) buying things from her.

I tried checking out ideas that are parallel to mine, and I came across the thread below. So I'll be borrowing some concepts on the thread to improve some of my ideas (acknowledgement to BeeOverlord :D)

https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/452168-relay-trader-concepts/

Anyway, the idea is that she's going to drop off some items to Darvo's Market in Tenno Relays to sell in exchange for (hundreds or thousands of) Ducats, again to help Darvo erase the smile from Baro'KiTeer. She'll be mostly dropping off stolen Corpus or Grineer tech (I'm thinking of some sort of experimental casing that will prevent the decay of Argon Crystals as an example). Then she also has these "first-come, first-served special offers" that will sell very rare items in fixed numbers such as upgraded weapons (Wraiths and Vandals) or even Prime blueprints - including those that are no longer obtainable in the Orokin Void such as Frost Prime parts, giving new players a glimmer of hope in getting a hand on these delicacies. NOTE: Founder Primes not included. Give our founders respect, please :)

As the Operative's deals are subject to Tenno rules of honor, she has to be bound to selling restrictions, such as making "special offer" items available only to those who do not possess the Prime Equipment in their inventory. This should more or less avoid abuse on the part of crafty players who already have them and plan to cash in on them by selling to other players.

At times she's not selling, she'll sometimes appear in Relays to "receive missions" from some needy individuals for her gang - and again, smirk on her "past victims". She does have some special affinity for the Perrin Sequence guys, though.

I'll be adding some sketches on these ideas if I have the time. :)

Maybe that trader can also sell weapon inventory slots for Ducats, but depending only on the origin:

> Grineer Weapon Case for Grineer-designed equipment

> Corpus Armament Box for Corpus-designed equipment

> Orokin Growth Suppressor Matrix for Infested weaponry

> Orokin Display Rack for Tenno-designed and Prime equipment

It should help players with an abundance of time to spare farming.

  • 5 months later...

Update: Made significant re-works on the character's concept and lore. Also, I opted to rename her from "Operative" to "Collector" to reflect her background as, well, a collector of sorts.

Will work on a centerpiece artwork later.

I got a rather "unusual" request from an alliance-mate who saw the placeholder poster. He told me to expand on the ideas about the Collector's warship. I assume he's an aficionado on WW2 warships since it is obviously based on a battleship.

So here's a quick sketch on the Collector's "corporate ship": the Liberator, the last Corpus battleship still in active duty.

warframe%20idea%20-%20corpus%20collector

Quick Lore:

For me it's like a big challenge for a Tenno and this is a great idea , sorry guys but I wouldn't mind for wee steeling since you could get them back and plus I like the idea corpus assassin , and for you Mr.artemicia If it's starting in MR 8 it would be better due to many players they get this game a lot nowadays and since its MR8 she should be in orcus relay most of the time and sometimes in other relay! ... But starting at MR8 is better because the players when they reach that rank they learned the game ... Good job art I really liked the idea 100%
