Feeling as though the Lotus failed to give enough information on the Fomorians I have taken the effort of doing some recon and helping to fill in the details for any tenno going into this effort blind. Also, I have pictures! Hee hee. Silly grineer. I'm in yo Fomorians snapping yo cores.
Mission 1; gathering Isotopes to make the shield disruptors. Fomorians produce a lot of radiation and as a result any planet unfortunate enough to have one lingering about in low orbit will suffer from irradiation. (Or any grineer or corpus fleets nearby.) Go to these irradiated areas and gather the isotopes. (This isn't a special alert or anything. It's just normal missions on the same planet.) The vacuum of space won't hold the radiation, though, so I'm afraid you can't gather them in Archwing missions. They'll drop from anything you kill, so shoot some grineer, corpus, or infested until you have a bunch.
Mission 2: Breaking the Fomorian! Equip your newly crafted disruptor in your gear and you'll be able to go move onto the next part of the mission. Here you will fight the dreadnought its self. So, let's take a look at this bad boy and see what needs to be done to deal some damage.
The first thing to take note of is the death laser its self. I've marked it with a 1 on the diagram. This laser is a heavy caliber monster designed to destroy large vessels in a single shot. Thankfully, it wasn't designed to focus all that damage on a small target and the beam is actually larger than your average tenno. I say thankfully because the bulk of its power will actually miss and only a small part of the unfocused beam will hit you if you're unlucky enough to take a direct shot. With maxed out shields you should survive one direct blast, but it's better to take cover when you see it looking at you.
There is a time to fight and a time to run. Know the difference.
You will face overwhelming odds that even a team of four tenno with the best gear will fall to. Engaging the enemy with brute force will lead to your failure. To turtle before the might of a Fomorian and its escort ships is suicide. So, rule number one. If it isn't stopping you it isn't worth your time. Having said that, what CAN stop you? Zeppelins. If you end up trapped within a net you'll have to take these out. They're marked as an objective when it happens so that's easy enough. However, don't melee it and don't stand in place shooting at it. Strafe around it and fire upon it. Keep moving so that the ungodly massive swarm of grineer ships waiting to kill you will miss more shots than they land. If your shields get low then run!!! Move around and through any available debris and don't stop moving. When you've got your second wind go back and hit the zeppelin again. Repeat until you or an ally takes it out then keep moving. But whatever you do, don't stop to look back over your shoulder... You are being followed...
After sorting your way through the endless cannon fodder you've tactfully opted to ignore and those pesky Zeppelins you'll reach the Fomorian proper. There are shields blocking the entrances to the core (Marked with a 3. Big red shields, can't miss em'. Take note of them on your way there so you can find your way in later. To take them down you'll need to head to the shield generators and destroy them. They don't put up much of a fight and should go down without any hassle. I've marked the generators with a 2.
Once you've taken down the shields head inside. If you need any help remembering where the entrance is look for the rib cage like protrusions directly above the entrance. Once inside you'll finally come face to face with your target.
The core! It's composed of two parts. The first, marked in green, are nodes. These stabilize the core and help prevent any lasting damage from being done to it. For maximum effect you need to take these nodes out before focusing on the core its self. So, when you and your allies have arranged yourselves around the core for maximum effect, use the disruptor in your gear and take down the shield around it. At this point you'll have roughly thirty seconds to deal as much damage as possible. When the time is up the shield around the core will rise shortly before the shields blocking your exit returns. At this point anyone inside will be irradiated and killed without fail... Evac pronto!
With any luck you should find it easier to deal with the Fomorians, now. And remember, you share your damage with your allies. Any damage they do counts towards your score. Don't be selfish or you'll only cripple yourself and your team. I've found the best way to tell when everyone is ready is by having everyone waypoint the core when they're in place. When you see four waypoints hit the disruptor!
PS; some pubs and I broke the score counter at the end of the mission. That's actually 15.9m damage, but it displays it as 1.597856e+007 for some reason. You can do this, tenno!
