  1. There is a current thread about Nano Spores from a guy who started a second account in order to experience the beginning again and live through the character progression again
which sounds like a cool idea!

But there is this story about RevXDev (or whatever) who got perma-banned for having multiple accounts and then making countless youtube videos about it - even getting in a fight with Mogamu, etc.
I think one of his intentions must have been to have a greater chance of getting a 75% Plat discount through having more than one account.

So I think one has to be very careful when he/she has 2 accounts. What exactly is not allowed to do ?

For example:  lets say you grind and grind and still are unable to find a crucial mod.  is it not allowed to trade it then between these 2 characters?
I mean:  this really does not sound like a crime - it even sounds perfectly understandable.

Happy?  No.  As I said in the Dev Workshop post #2, if I were a veteran, end-game player I'd be insulted.  The Riven system, as it currently stands, is a hamster wheel.  It's not an incentive to revisit old weapons.

What I find troubling is that of the things in the first batch of tweaks made to the system, Kuva costs were reworked and Unveiling for each Cycling was removed.  On removing Unveiling after the initial one, this is most definitely NOT "a huge reduction in the grind" as Steve stated in the Devstream.  This tweak simply allows a player to pull the lever on the slot machine faster.

Speaking of slot machines, you know how when all the symbols don't match, you don't hit the jackpot?  Well, how about this: Projectile speed on a hitscan weapon?  Magazine size on a bow?  See where I'm headed with this?  So you Unveil a Riven mod and you get two mismatched stats and negative modifier for the third.  Possible?  Yes.  Bad luck?  Sure.  Say you've cycled 5 times and on the sixth you get the mod I just mentioned.  Do you cycle again?  If you are a habitual gambler, probably.  Me?  Absolutely not.  Even if the Kuva cost was reduced to 100 or 10 or 1, I still wouldn't bother.  Why then, was Kuva cost reworked, but not the mismatched stats?

I don't mind grinding for a resource to spend improving a mod.  Most of us do this all the time.  Hell, I don't even mind having to complete a little challenge in between each Cycle.  The grind just has to mean something, has to get us from point A to point B - progression from the left side of the graph to the right in a reasonable amount of time.  Riven mod progression currently has a circle in it, with a random chance of actually getting out of the circle and over to the right side of the graph...at some random point...in the future...maybe...statistically speaking.

Riven mods do come from a good place though, I'll give them that.  I would love to have a faster, meaner, stronger Buzlock or Gorgon or Daikyu.  But I need to know that Riven mods WILL get me to that better Buzlock or Gorgon or Daikyu - not just that Riven mods have a random chance to do so.

    amen.

grinding  is ok if you know it will eventually get you somewhere.

plus: please remove the stats that don't make sense.

  3. more (more exciting) missions would be great

and another change to the steering is needed.
For example:  when you fly against a wall (which you defintely will...)  you should be able to get free instead of tocking against the same motherf*****ng wall for another 5 times.

and the maps need to get better. because unless you know the tilesets well, you'll definitely get lost...

Loving these changes, can we all calm down in the future and let the beasts do their work? The fixes and changes will come to us, like an answer to a prayer.

nope - (some of the desired) changes will only come after the community has given their feedback

So how badly is my Latron mod going to get nerfed? Not too hard I hope... I used to use the Latron exclusively when I first started and this mod really renewed my interest in all of its variants.

wow! so these riven mods ARE too powerful.

(if you belong to these 0.5 % who beat RNG)

  6. people will always want the best possible build.

it is the developer's task to provide endgame missions with suitable difficulty (which they fail doing)

besides, if we don't farm for better gear - what else would we be doing in this game?

I get your point Emulad0or, but do you have an answer for my question?

Riven mods are not necessary to begin with. DERebecca said it was made to give other and possibilities to weapons that are not used often.

I heard that, too.  And I like the idea of this, I really do.

But this does not explain why they have carried out this idea so poorly (see above).

Please tell me:  who would litterally invest days of farming to make a mediocre weapon viable in endgame and most likely go through a "vale of tears" in the process?

and needless to mention that if DE really wanted that, then why have they published those mods for the Meta weapons like the Tonkor, Soma, Simulor, Dread in the first place ?

Also: they spoke of interesting new ways.   but mere stats and numbers are not interesting.  New properties like "percentage of armor destruction" would be interesting.

Dunno. One guy in my clan had 3 in a row (on 4 Sorties). So I'd say the chances are quite respectable, probably the highest after Endos and Lenses. I'll give it another week of Sorties before assessing their loot rate. :P

I did 2 sorties so far - of course each with 2000 Endo.
And judging from my friend's experiences - I'd say the chances to get a Riven mod are quite low.

and then multiply this chance with 1/number of weapons    and you'll get to a chance of 0,??? ONCE PER DAY

  9. should grind in Video games actually make you feel miserable?

1.) the chance of getting the Riven Mod you want from a Sortie is 0,??%  ONCE per day          (?%  x  1/number of weapons)
But this is not even what I want to talk about here.

Because after this craziness the true pain is just starting!!

The system of increasing costs for a completely new SET of all stats, each with completely random amounts and with a chance of getting negative stats is just insane and CAN ONLY MAKE YOU FEEL MISERABLE unless you belong to 0,0??? % of the population.

I already know how bad it can feel when you re-roll ONE particular stat on a weapon in the Division. But as mentioned: this is just ONE stat and then you get to choose between several possible options.  And besides, these weapons and resources/credits in general are much easier to come by!

But what we have now in Warframe is just.... I have no words.   The chance of getting disappointed - and then with even MORE costs for the next roll is just too great.
Besides - even if you got lucky and get a good roll:   you'll always know that it could be better.

How can an experienced developer team publish such a system??

I am asking the question again:
should the grind in Video games actually make you feel miserable?

Like said in another thread: there are different types of grind.  Some give you the pleasant feeling of working towards something but the Riven-type will only lead to frustration.
And the small small percentage of people who got something great will be able to sell it for thousands of platinum.
Either DE does not have experience or they just don't care what they are doing to players. Players who possibly have invested so much time and platinum in this (their) game

    EDIT:
if someone says that words like "miserable" should have nothing to do in a video game because only real-life can be miserable, then please consider that we are talking about hours, days, for some even weeks (!) of real-life time here. And of course you'll feel like sh**t  everytime you re-roll these mods and get crap.

  10. let me guess:  your Riven mod is a very good one, right ?

BTW:  mine was for the Sinoid Simulor and still I disdain the path DE has taken with these riven mods.

p.S.:  more build diversity is a great idea!   but the way of these riven mods and the grind - is poison.

  11. People are willing to accept grind when they have the feeling of working towards something!
1.) Take the focus Grind for example. This can take a long time - but it goes linearly and you know that you'll get somewhere eventually.
2.) Another acceptable form of grind would be one of increasing returns (chance gets higher with every unlucky attempt - even if only slightly). Because AGAIN - you'll have the pleasant feeling of working towards something.
3.) then there is a form where you have the chance of actively increasing your chances through strategy, skill or a separate grind.  The new Relic System is a little bit like that - but still is not very satisfying. However -  definitely a step in the right direction!

But with these Riven mods the amount of grind is overwhelming and you don't have the feeling of working towards something - NO you are even punished with higher costs for further rolls.     You'll know at all times that there is potential to get so much better - which you'll probably never get to.
This results in the opposite of the "pleasant feeling" I was describing above.

    Unless....
you buy them for Platinum and these Riven mods will result in absolutely insane prices in the Trade Chat.
I can imagine that DE wanted it to become that way....   bravo.

in short:  I so much hate the path DE has taken with these Riven Mods.   I thought that they have learned that most people don't like "diffuse grind" - especially not THIS kind of insane grind.

I have invested thousands of Plat and hours but I am honestly thinking about leaving Warframe until DE has fixed the "type" of grind to be something which is acceptable and enjoyable.
