  1. Ive been primarily soloing the plains since release - really havent had a hard time with anything but the level 5 bounties (mainly due to my loadout not being optimized for it). If you just plain old cant stand the fishing/mining, then yeah, you're kinda screwed - but overall Im enjoying the experience - PoE is the first time Ive felt like theres a bigger world out there in WF - not just railroading thru the same tilesets over and over.

  2. Im a founder-era vet (who didnt buy a founders pack, like an idiot) and Ive been playing on and off since then. I took about a years break - having come back shortly before PoE, and I have noticed there seems to be a little more rudeness out there than before. Its not awful or anything, but I have encountered players over the last two weeks - who were very quick to jump down the teams throats for very small things. I didnt check to see how new they were, never occurred to me - but it does feel like there is an elevated element of entitlement and disrespect now, compared to my previous time with the game.

  3. Valkyr -

    A) I love cats of all kinds

    B) her primal screams of anger and energy claws are just freaking awesome - every time I she screams out its like hitting the turbo button - its GO TIME.

    C) shes the only frame I had something of an emotional reaction for, ie: felt bad for, due to her suffering at the hands of the Corpus - which is a little strange considering the frame itself, at least as we know it thus far, has some sort of inner 'workings' but no true sentience. Perhaps Valks original operator felt much of the 'pain' Valk went thru and it left a transference based anguish upon the frame itself? But then the question begs, why didnt the operator just disconnect? Heh, Im guessing this topic may have been gone over in the past, but I digress.

Mesa is a close second, just because I've always loved gunfighters and gunfighter mythos.

  4. Like was said in the devstream, they're well aware only a tiny portion of people play the trials - and that the majority of arcanes are in the hands of a very few people. I believe Scott said something to the effect of 'we need to work on that'. I like that the new arcanes are just behind a large resource grind, maybe too large, but at least anyone can access them with some time invested. Hopefully, going forward, new arcanes (and maybe even some old ones) will have alternate ways to acquire them.

  5. I still think we need an 'artillery' frame. A frame that has something like a shoulder mounted ult - cannons or missile racks. Perhaps arm mounted twin cannons or such. An entrench skill that makes it immobile but tanky and does more dmg. A passive that is a slow trickle of ammo regen.

Basically, if Mesa is the agile gunfighter - this guy would be a walking gun emplacement.

  6. Maybe its been mentioned, I didn't read thru all the replies - but your operator is *exceptionally* good at dealing with Stalker...

Also, the operator is amazing when it comes to moments when you'd otherwise be screwed - like suddenly getting overwhelmed while solo - what would very likely kill your frame - you can avoid and/or soak up via the operator.

While currently, the operator's *mandatory* usage is limited - creative usage of the operator outside those instances does allow them to shine and allow the player to perform in ways they weren't able to before.

Also - there is no way DE went the direction they did, with operators, without having more in store for them. They may seem 'pointless' to some right now - but I seriously doubt they will stay that way for long.

  7. No they're not vacuum-able. They're alot like medallions, as was said above, you need to go round them up. If you're missing exceptionals, just place a waypoint near the Tera's location when it starts to do the big AOE. Go back after the blast, pick it up. Easy peasy.

I would like to see the cores shine brighter and/or better marked, definately. Not sure why the plentiful (and therefore often useless) lure orbs are so brightly lit with a short marker beam - yet the cores are easily hidden in tall grass - it should be reversed.

  8. Pretty much all of her helmets have had mohawk motifs. The new skin fits with her theme just fine. I totally dig the punk rock/metal vibe this new skin has.

If you ask me, I think the concept skin, while a good look, actually looks less like Ember - and its not *that* amazing - dont understand why people went so ga-ga about it.

  9. If they extend the current univac to say 5m - I think that'd be just about right. You want more - then use a Sentinel. We shouldn't be automatically sucking up loot a room away - doesn't make any sense and its unnecessary. I'm hard pressed to think of another popular loot grind game that allows you to suck loot up from such distances. (Not saying they don't exist mind you, just that none come to mind)

  10. Ive also never felt like I needed vacuum. Sure its nice, but necessary? Not in the slightest. It seems like alot of people just cant be bothered to go grab loot - and I dont understand why. I too love being mobile, bouncing around and going berserk - and if I see loot I need to grab, I just hop over and get it. I never think 'Gee I wish that loot would come to me'.

I mean I know, different strokes for different folks - but it really seems like the vacuum thing has blown up into something bigger than it deserves. Im cool with a small radius personal vacuum (to avoid pixel perfect pickup), but no where near what Sentinels provide.

It's not about HARD. Warframe isn't hard.

Sorties are TEDIOUS. NOT hard. And rewards are mostly crap, so, I don't bother.

Granted, sorties are the pain in the &#!. Although they tend to go by pretty quick these days - I do wish they werent the only way to get Rivens.

    Great attitude.

If you want to encourage players to quit playing your game.

I...don't think making players feel this way is the intent of loot, in a loot grind game.

Rivens are just a terrible system that would never have passed muster in a game with real QA. Loot should make people feel invested and happy, to encourage obtaining more of it. When the loot in your loot based game actively makes players question why they bothered getting it in the first place... something has gone horribly wrong.

Rivens are just like any other randomly generated loot in any other loot grind game. Most of the loot sucks, but then you find that one piece that makes the grind worthwhile - and then you do it all over again. Loot cant be 'good' all the time, otherwise you undermine the entire point of a loot grind game. The majority of us keep hammering away at whatever game we're playing, in search of the 'phat lewtz' - thats why we play loot grind games. If your luck is bad and you just keep getting crap, well, thats just how the dice roll - you can complain and whine about it (which does nothing), or you can keep going til you get the gold.

"When the loot in your loot based game actively makes players question why they bothered getting it in the first place... something has gone horribly wrong." - I think its safe to say we have all done this, at least once, in every single loot grind game we've ever played. So are you saying all loot grind games are doing it wrong?

Whining about something, that most of us have no problem accomplishing, isnt productive. Sure you can vent, but afterwards, get out there and work towards unlocking the damn riven. They really arent that hard.

The complaint is with the disparity between his and mine. He gets to pick up 15 syndicate medallions. I get to try to solo a lv30+ mission AND get a perfect score. lol. that's not even remotely fair.

Life isnt fair. Often times, neither is playing a game based on heavy RNG. You can not like it all you want - but complaining about it gets you no where. Either get out there and do the riven, or dont.

Both the rivens you mentioned as 'useless' are quite easy to unlock with the right tactics. Maybe its not a good metric upon which to judge, but for someone with nearly 5000 posts, *and* who is a founder, I'd think you'd know how to deal with those types of rivens by now.

Adapt and overcome, or do nothing and stagnate - the choice is yours.

I have to agree with the OP on this.  Login rewards are supposed to be rewards for loyally logging into the game for a specific period of time.  Being able to bypass that doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Currently, having something like the Zenistar or Zenith means you've put in your time.  Newer players see those weapons and have something to work toward.  Making it essentially available to everyone in 50 days kinda sucks.

Its not a bypass - you'll still need the 700 or whatever the cap is to get everything, you simply get to choose the order of things. I dont see how that is any problem.

  15. This is a positive change honestly - it allows some player control over these rewards, instead of having the disappointing knowledge that you simply have to log in for ~2 years. I know you may feel jilted but if you're closing in on 700, Im not sure you have much to complain about, you already have everything previous to that, not like you're losing anything - and the perceived 'prestige' behind the items is meaningless.

Lets not forget the folks who had been playing previous the the milestone reward system - none of our time had accrued or carried over. Had to start from scratch like everyone else.

  16. Except (from my own experience):

    - a way to stealth in a non-stealth frame

    - to generate energy regen bubbles

    - void dash travel

    - situational AMP combat

    - passive Focus attacks/status effects (ball lightning, fire trail, etc)

    - a way to keep your frame from taking massive damage

Im sure others have come up with some creative uses as well. Obviously not everything from the focus tree is super-powered, or even super-useful - but if you can weave them into the normal flow of combat they can have their uses.

The Operator isnt meant to be mandatory - but instead allow for more varied situational tactics and options. You dont *have* to use them (barring Eidolons of course), but you can - and I like that.
