People shouldn't be expected to act a certain way, men can be more thoughtful and care for people while women can take on male dominated jobs and do things that aren't considered lady like.

Interestingly the people who suffer the most because of gender stereotypes are the "feminine" men. While conservative people may be against a woman who does a "manly" job, they accept it more easily, because those "manly" jobs are highly respected, and a woman wanting more respect makes sense to them. But a man, giving up his status by becoming a kindergarten teacher, or nurse? That's something they tolerate even less, because it absolutely makes no sense to them.

Calling them he or she is easy and some are obviously male or female. Rhino and Wisp for examples. It could also draw from the fact of what they were before they were turned into Warframes. Referring to them in a neutral way isn't wrong either though.

Yeah, most of the frames are obviously male or female (Rhino and Wisp being prime examples). I don't say referring to them in neutral form is wrong though, just wanted to unravel this grammatical mystery!

English is constantly evolving.  The English our grandparents speak isn't identical to what we speak to even what our kids will speak when they hit our ages.

I personally don't see an issue with gender neutrality but I also don't see the point of my gender being a main facet of my personality.

True and true. We once listened to an ancient voice recording in history class, it was a speech given in the parliament by a politician. I can't remember correctly, but I think it was nearly a hundred years old or so. And he just spoke S O  S L O W L Y. Our world became so fast in the last decades, our way of speaking changed! And there are also the little things, words become extinct and new ones emerge.

I personally don't care if someone is male or female, or what kind of partner they prefer, unless I don't want to be that partner. Being feminine is a part of who I am, but wouldn't emphasize it as the most important factor in my personality. It's rather something kind of "floating" above all personality traits - it isn't in the foreground, but has it's trace on most of my behaviour.

In the context of Warframes it makes more sense to not assign gender to them since they don't really have the same functions as organic males and females. They may look male or female, but they don't reproduce so assigning male or female roles to them isn't as necessary. It could be attributed to PC culture and trying to not offend someone that's trans, gender neutral, gender fluid, etc.

This kinda makes sense... Made me think about if any personal pronouns are used in Inaros' profile video, had to look it up because I couldn't remember. And it is, Lotus calls Inaros "he", and also "king". So while warframes can't procreate, they obviously appear to be male or female (except for you know who 😀), and Lotus talks about them as such. Probably Tahir is right here and Helen was so used to speaking in pc terms, she didn't even realize what she wrote.

Edit: checked Protea's video to see if they changed their approach on naming gender/sex when it comes to a warframe, but no, Protea is referred to as a "she".

This would take a bit to cover and I have to head to bed.

But Canada has some laws concerning pronoun usage in gender identity. I infer that she is just being as neutral as possible out of habit in respect to that. Or it could just be her choice to do so.

You can read about the law here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Act_to_amend_the_Canadian_Human_Rights_Act_and_the_Criminal_Code#:~:text=The law amends the Criminal, gender identity or gender expression.

As for the reason she chose "their" we would have to ask her directly.

Wow this is actually really interesting, I didn't know about the existence of this law, thanks for sharing!

I default to gender neutral because it's easier and makes more sense to me.  Either or is fine, honestly, as it isn't inaccurate.  He and she are also they.

So you prefer using "they" instead of "he" and "she"? You know, the direction the English language is heading with this trend is intriguing. There are languages where there aren't any male or female pronouns, just a universal one which is used for both. I wonder if in, let's say, a hundred years English will become a language like this.

  6. I have a question for native US/Canadian English speakers. DE Helen wrote this in her Inaros Prime PA announcement:

"Inaros Prime leaves their ancient resting place to arrive with the brutal Panthera Prime, elegant Karyst Prime and much more."

Inaros is obviously male, so she could have just written "his" instead of "their", which is the neutral form, but didn't. I've already heard an American Twitch streamer using the same gender neutral personal pronoun as he described what a woman did (he mentioned he was talking about a woman).

So my question is, is talking like that common? Or they just did it accidentally? Am I missing something? I aim to keep my English knowledge up to date.

Dang it, I suppose the flexing pic is gone too? If yes, it's a shame, that pic is glorious!

Same, but that goes for a lot of pictures right now for me. I know Magus_Tahir's picture was working before for me.

And im disappointed, thought you posted a picture 😄

Yes, some pictures became unavailable for me too... Maybe there's something up with certain providers? Emmyemi's pic however looks like a big "no entry sign" to me, so maybe the picture itself is there, we just can't view it from here (something up with the privacy options?)

Nah, I was thinking about posting a pic, but I'm not sure. I just like the freedom of being unable to be "tracked down". I mean only the people who know me in person and also know my PSN can connect the two, and this gives me some freedom. I can share any ideas and thoughts about anything, not having to worry about who reads it and what they think about it. Not that I unusually (or at all) say anything that can be turned against me irl, but I like having an option.

  10. @Yrkul Wow. Even your "bad food" sounds so delicious 😄

I wish a had a dad like yours, maybe I wouldn't be entirely uncreative in the kitchen!

I was smiling the entire time while reading your comment about the recipes. Your enthusiasm radiates from the text. I envy every person who eats what you make in the kitchen 😃

Smacking a huge magnet upside a machine is much more effective than doing it to a person.

It's all relative... The effectiveness depends on what your goal was with the magnet smacking.

The pork tenderloin was good. 🙂 Got some leftovers, that I'll crack crack an egg over and refry, and eat with a baked potato and sliced, steamed broccoli stem tomorrow.

I'm in the mood for coffee.

Where do you find all these gourmet recipes? Or just feeling creative?

THIS IS ME ON NO SLEEP, GOD HELP US ALL.

If you can't sleep because your mind just can't take a break and you're unable to stop yourself of thinking about stuff that keeps you awake... Listening to movies on low volume always helped me. Choose something you've seen more than once, the story is chill, and isn't full of loud scenes. I like listening to the Harry Potter movies (1-4), for example. Paying attention to the movie will keep your intrusive thoughts at bay, and helps you fall asleep. You can set your computer to shut down after the movie is over, and don't accidentally leave it on repeat! Hope this helps!

That... looks like something, that might be illegal in Denmark. We have REALLY strict laws concerning alternative medicine (ie not widely accepted by the medical institutions. Even CBD oil is at an iffy place at the moment). I could of course look into the ingredients themselves, though I have to be careful about interactions with my medication. Some herbs reduce the natural breakdown of medicine in the liver, which can lead to build-up and result in overdosing, if you're not careful. Same goes for some fruits and vegetables. The breakdown of statins (anticholesterol medicine) is reduced by grapefruits, for example. I can skip my statin if I eat a pomelo (type of grapefruit) that day. In pomelo season, I reduce my statin use by a quarter that way, and my bloodwork still comes up fine. Don't skip medication on your own, though. You need to talk to your doctor and maybe a nutritionist about these things, and get checked regularly. I get a wide spectrum bloodwork done every three months and a follow-up with my doctor, due to all the crap that's wrong with me.

The Nervenpflege might be illegal in Denmark? This is kinda funny. Here a lot of similar stuff is sold I think, but the manufacturer is required to write on the packaging that the product is a traditional remedy, not medicine. Please note that I wouldn't ever tempt you to do anything illegal 😜

If you really have issues with sleeping and are searching for a better solution, I think it's worth asking your doctor about this product next time you see them. It really is good.

OMG it's so good we're talking about this, I would have taken these pills with me abroad without a thought... But looks like I'll need to look into local regulations of my destination before doing that. It wouldn't be a pleasant experience, to be thrown into prison abroad for the possession of illegal drugs 😐

Kettle is on for a nice pot o' tea. Making black tea with cinnamon, orange rind and rose petals. Just enough caffeine to calm me down without hitting me with the snore hammer.

Too bad I can't use coffee for sleep assistance. It works for a few hours, but then I wake up in the middle of the night. Chamomile gives me a full night's sleep, but it leaves me feeling tired, much like going to sleep drunk. CBD oil works, though. But it's bloody expensive in Denmark.

    Ever seen something like this?

    nervenpflege-tabletta-60-db-52339.jpg

It's a traditional remedy to reduce anxiety, also helps to fall asleep. The main component is catnip (my cats love playing with the description printed on paper which comes inside the box!), but also contains several other herbs. German stuff in theory, so maybe can be bought in Denmark too. Both my boyfriend (who has panic-attack-like episodes sometimes) and myself (a person with a generally high anxiety level) found it effective.

Boyfriend has me playing Final Fantasy 14.  Ngl, the fact it's cross platform is the only reason I was willing to try it.

Hilarity ensued when he tried to tell me where to adjust certain settings but didn't realize the menu layout is different.

Poor guy, just wanted to be the strong man who helps out a damsel with settings problems, but couldn't 😃

Playing together like that sounds so awesome. When the PS5 comes out, we'll buy one and my boyfriend and I will finally be able to play Warframe together! And our battles will be legendary!

Double oof... Yeah. Sometimes we have to so those. I can relate, lowered my expectations regarding my next job, just to find something already. I can still work my way to a better one from there. I hope my potential employers will shower me with phone calls and emails the next week!

I do that on mc now and after that I’ll just sleep and be like “I’m too tired to eat you’ll be fine stomach”

Oh no. You have to eat, that's the only way you'll be able to think straight the next day! And how do you want to do the Craft if you can't think straight? It isn't good to eat right before sleeping, so next time just do me a favour and have a big healthy breakfast at least! 🙃

Or unhealthy. Just eat something 😛
