    Success?

    PoE was a colossal failure.

Every bit of the spike in player numbers was lost. No one was drawn to an empty, vapid open world with nothing to do and no point to it's existence other than as a static tapestry to walk across.

Bounties remain big ridden, low effort filler content. Not even on par with side quests from other open world games. They're an unfun, tedious mess.

God's help us if THIS was a successful template. The next one will be a travesty.

Colossal failure according to whom?  Yourself? Reddit?  A large number of players, myself included, LOVED it.  The stats are there to prove it on Steam.  Not just that, but this was only a TEST map, to see if implementing larger ones would work.  PoE is alot of fun.  People just need to change perspectives a bit and let things develop.  It's like...people wanted a sunflower, planted the seed...and are mad on the day-of that it's not a friggin 8 ft tall sunflower already.  These things take time.  People need patience.

5 Games exactly because there is the Lunaro (sport game) :)

I just don't understand why having 5 different ways to play (Warframe, itself, being more of an interface with those games than it's own basegame, which is good) being a problem?  Like...Not everyone wants to murderbone, not everyone wants to stick to stealth gameplay.  Some like Archwing (like mysefl...maps could be better, but i LIKE that the maps aren't MADE for us, they are map we simply exist in.....as opposed to Sonic and Mario Bros where maps feel like...MADE for the hero to win. Which is absurd)

    And it's all free!

Personally I think POE is as good as it can be for the 1st kind of its map especially on a newbie friendly node like earth. The only addition I'd add for next version is more like Zeldas Breath of the wild kind of mobs like its Golem, Lynels or Hinoxes. No factions, but just existing creatures of its planet just to add variation to what you're fighting against.

Why do posts like this not have more upvotes?  This is fantastic critique!  People DO often forget that this is a FIRST try...and it is on a NEWBIE-tier planet. Which means much of the content HAD to be kept reasonable, at least entry level.   Now yes, some people will say "But what about the Eidolon that beginning players can't even fight?"  Well, yeah, first off...the game does warn about NOT being out there at night...and there is no permanent loss from losing to it...
So I see that as the game showcasing to the new players "This is what you can work towards one day!"  and giving them a world that is bigger than them.  It shows scale....Just like how if they jumped ahead to Sedna at MR2, they'd feel outclassed.  For some, that makes them annoyed...but for others, like myself (now MR18) it gives me DRIVE to work harder :)

I like the random mobs idea that helps showcase that planet's unique environment instead of more of the same :)  Still like PoE though, but I'm not blind to improvements that can be made.

Thank you for this. Indepth response that isn't super subjective, great points too.

Agreed. I think it should be more like make multiple players contributing to building shops and such (like Metal Gear's nuke disarmament event). So people contribute 100 of "x" resource until the requirement is met to make the community work for the rewards. Just a suggestion though! :D

Like how all players contribute to Razorback quests and such, but more similar to Clans contributing to shared rooms/statues/research...only open to the world, not just the clan?  I'd love that.

Honestly, I'm very excited for more clan-inclusive content too :)

Definitely incorporating resources from PoE in meaningful ways would help. Animals can basically be reskins of kavats/kubrows but less aggressive. DE doesn't need to only have a few months, even taking a year to do this would be amazing.

While I agree an expansion on this expansion would be amazing, I feel that the community (not necessarily you, yourself) are putting alot of hate out at DE for even -trying- with PoE, instead of constructive posts like yours.  Like, DE IS trying.  This was only the beginning of their Open Worlds...they just wanted to see how things would work, so people need to understand that of COURSE DE didn't pour tons of content into it...because if it failed, there was more to lose.   It made sense to see if people could even accept moving in some map that WASNT a hallway...that's all.

That being said, more variety in quests would be cool, and more open worlds within map that aren't covered in enemies.  Like, I get it, Earth is ruled by Grineer...but some remote forest would be cool as hell to see and explore....and bigger, deeper caves, maybe?

Issue here, is, of course, that the louder majority of players seem to just want BANG BANG EXPLOSIONS AND DEATH and don't really care about quieter story stuff, which is a shame.  Like, too many people with the "What do I get out of it" mode of thought, rather than just taking a moment to soak up the scenery.

That being said, I have no doubt in my mind that DE is aware and is already incorporating more into their next expansion.  I mean, they have places like Iron Wake, so it can be done, and they added more Eidolon and so on.  I believe they want to add more story, and that taking their time doing so would be good..

...but the patience has to come from the Playerbase too.  We can't constantly pressure DE like "GIVE US MORE STUFF NOWWWW" and then wonder why it isn't 11/10 when it comes out.  They do alot of great stuff.  Perfect? Nope, but...pretty damn good for what they're working with.

In any case, good points and I, too, look forward to more expansions on the PoE concept :)  I like where Warframe is going ^_^  (As for drops, I don't mind how resources are right now.  Grinding is something ive come to accept and maybe even enjoy out of warframe.  It all comes down to perspective. If you expect it in a day, youll be disappointed.  If you accept youll "get there when you get there", suddenly it's not so bad)

Unless orbs and focus gain is adjusted I doubt that many players will be able to answer your question.

Doing mind-numbing farming specifically for focus is boring as hell. I wish focus gain was similar to gaining paragon levels in Diablo 3. You didn't have to focus on farming them - they just came naturally through regular gameplay while you were doing other stuff.

One time-use lenses, orbs, daily limit - all of that is actually putting me off from getting anything else than Zenurik's energy regeneration.

Uhh...but it DOES just come naturally as you play the game.  You're running around killing stuff, then suddenly a yellow orb appears...Now you're still just running around killing stuff, just a bit more "focused" on what weapon you're using.   Like....It's only tedious if you're overly focused on Focus.

This is frustrating, as a new player who worked their tail off to acquire then craft Chroma.  Then put 4 forma into him.  I started in November '17 so yeah am behind the times quite a bit.

What I'm hearing is that he's now a worse version of Rhino.   Same damage buff, worse armor buff, and no crowd control capability.

DE should really rethink this change.  Or at least refund the people who put tons of forma into a newly useless frame.  He was one of my favorites until now, only had a month to play with him.  I even bought his dynasty skin and collection.  FML.... and  RIP

Relax, don't buy into the hype.  He's not "useless".  Still a very good frame, just not an outright damage-god.  That's not a bad thing.  People want "tougher endgame content", and that's difficult to deliver if you have One-Shot Dragon Lord over here.  So yeah, bug fix, and they took the chance to rework him a bit.

    Still a solid frame.

  8. 1. Yes, Rivens can be MR18. I've seen it, though rarely.

    2. No, Endless Survival is NOT just for "No-Lifers".  It's for people who LOVE the gameplay of Warframe and want to take on as much of it as possible!  That's the issue I see with this current influx of new players and some "vets" too, tbh.  They see no good "rewards" on the drop table and think it must not be worth it.  I see the pay-off as the gameplay itself. I enjoy the process, and so playing the game IS the reward.  Period.  And I know many others feel this way, too.

There is no wrong way to play the game.  As long as you're having fun and not taking fun away from those around you, it's all good.

  9. Honestly, Nova DOES make enemies EASIER to kill, so....That kinda makes up for their slower movement when you need less hits/shots to kill them all.  So I don't see how this is slowing anything down.

If the gameplay is just "in your way" and you're rushing to get through it, you're not really playing Warframe, are you?

  10. I don't play PvP much on Warframe, or really any game, but I think it COULD be cool to implement some of these ideas down the line to add interest to Conclave.

To be clear, I'm not talking about PUBG or whatever...But imagine a Hunger Games style mode....Where Life Support mechanics kick in, and Toxic Proc clouds (like Nox leaves behind) start to fill the space of a large underground cave on the map.  10 players are trapped down there.....and somewhere in that cave is a high-level npc with a key to a door.
Only one player can carry said key to get out, and depending on kill count, death count, damage score, etc, players get ranked from 1-10th place, and get prizes accordingly.

So doors lock, forcing players to advance through the level and not just camp with Ivara or whatever, they run on the Conclave mod/power system so things are better balanced for PvP, and there are still elements of PvE in there.

Heck, it could just be a single new Raid thing.  It'd be interesting to see how the players cooperate when faced with the threat of each other AND the world around them.

The only thing I can't think of is....a story/reasoning why Tenno WOULD turn on each other.

Maybe something different, like "One of you is a spy for the Grineer" and you have to work out which is the traitor?   I dunno, just spitballin' here.

I wish it was more about the gameplay rather then just “stand here while I go hack that console that moves the tram so that you can break the window to hack the other console while two guys can go stand in two pads so that someone can can go to the other side, fill the air and shoot the nerve while we blanket the whole map in CC”. Sorry that’s just neither fun nor engaging specially when you have to deal with unknown bugs here and there. I guess some people like this type of gameplay but to me it’s nothing like the rest of Warframe and while I can complete it I don’t in anyway enjoy the content.

    Yup.

  12. First off, to the OP, I think this is a VERY good topic, as instead of complaining, it's a productive topic and trying to make the best of it.  I applaud you for that!

I think Raids need to be a bit less set in a pattern, for one.  Didn't like how much standing around there was or the fact that every tun through was the same.

One of the things i LOVE about Warframe is maps are always slightly different, enemies spawn in different places, and so on.  It keeps us on our toes. The Raids were too static and the very fact that you could learn their exact setup for faster times was a bit ...well, it wasn't Warframe.

The Devs never said it wasn't "fun" to them...they said it wasn't in line with what they want Warframe to be.  And that's fine.

The stuff theyre working on is still in infancy, so I'm not going to judge, but im sure itll be fun too.

If it takes 2 years, then so be it.  Game Design isn't easy, or else EVERYONE would be doing it.

  13. I'm in favor of moving away from just Affinity-based increase in Focus, mainly because, as you stated, it gets cheesed too easily.

What if Focus, instead, had a "Combo Counter" system, wherein once you start the timer, you have x seconds to rack up that counter with whatever weapon/frame you're trying to focus on (after all, it IS focus, and maybe shouldn't be able to be spread out over 3 or 4 weapons at once, as that doesn't sound very "focused").

So, like, if you manage to get the Focus Combo Counter up to 4x in that time, via kills, I assume, you could get 4x whatever the Focus Per Second static rate it, and go from there.

    Thoughts?
