  1. Forword, im not a native english speaker.


    Firstly a tidbit from the wikia (http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Melee):


    "The Combo Counter resets if no enemies are hit after 3 seconds.The Damage Multiplier starts at 1.5X the weapon's base damage after five consecutive hits. The multiplier is increased by +.5X after achieving three times the number of hits of the previous multiplier, i.e. 15 consecutive hits yield a 2X Damage Multiplier, 45 consecutive hits yield 2.5X Damage, 135 hits yield 3X Damage, 405 hits yield 3.5x etc."


    As you can see above, this is how the current Combo Counter (MCC) works. It looks good on paper to be sure but in practice it doesnt. Granted its not a complete fail. In fact when facing multiple enemies in a small space it works as intended. 


    However, warframe is not a game where battles are fought in a narrow corridor. Hence the problem.


    First of, the damage. While the damage scaling looks nice the fact that you need (from the above example) 405 hits for a 3.5X the multiplier puts it clearly in the rank of "unachievable". I dont think there is a single weapon out there that can achieve that amount of hits in a reasonable amount of time. I doubt many enemies will be alive by the time you reach that amount.... unless you are using a stick to tickle a lvl 100 heavy. 


    For example: Dakra Prime has a base of 60 damage. With max Rending Strike (dont ask), Preasure Point and Spoiled Strike you have 299.6 damage altogether. If we asume that the MCC multiplier takes into account modded damage you end up with dealing 1048,6 damage per strike with the sword. But thats only AFTER you manage to reach the required 405 hits.


    Granted im not taking into account the elements as im only making a example here but even so, in order to get the 3.5X scaling you need to manage a insane ammout of hits.


    The scaling damage is good, but the required ammount of hits to reach it is too much even if you were to use the fastest weapon in the game.


    Solution: reduce the ammount of hits neccessary to reach milestone in damage multiplier.


    Second part will be short as there is not much discusion to be had.


    3 second reset is too short. In fact, the reset is so short that in most cases i cant cover the distance between enemies in time to continue the combo and benefit from the MCC multiplier properly simply cause the time is too damn short.


    Solution: a) buff the timer to 5 seconds and alternatively reduce the neccessary hit ammount by at least double.


                   b) buff the timer to 20 seconds and make it reset if the player is hit by a heavy cc (ie. knockdown)


     


    Either of the solutions will help improve the melee system and make it scale better in the late game. 


  2. Less content, more quality please. I think the "Year of Quality" should be focused on balancing the existing content rather than making new content altogether.

    People keep forgeting that its only march. there is still time for quality.

  3. *sigh* reading comments after each and every update... how does DE manage. If it was me, half way trough i do 'F*** it all, you cant please these bastards.

    pvp: one or two bad matches does not mean a fail system.

    raid: not your cup of tea? neither is mine, will try it out tho possibly

    weapons: i dont understand the gripe people have with weapon combos. personally i like it, i dont mind the waiting, never have and never will, hell im getting stuff for free anyway

    chroma: the quest is interesting, the fact that you cant find something else to do while it crafts is entirely your problem not DE's

    sanctuary: nobody has a gun pointed at your head and forcing you to it

    nerfs: nobody likes em, true. why? bunch of self entitled brats that dont find the game fun unless they type in cheat codes. synoid nerf was neccessary, khom is still alive and, well excal was perhaps a mistake on DE's part

  4. First of, props to the guy that him his voice over. <slow clap>

    Now, on to my gripe. 

    If you are, per chance solo, or if there are no teammates near you and you get pounced, kiss your revive good bye.

    For the most part he isnt a difficult opponent to fight and it adds a touch of dynamic to the game but his pounce from what ive seen is neither telegraphed or avoidable. Heck you cant even stop it once he pounces on you. 

    So, yea, id like to see some changes to it.

    1) make his move more telegraphed. give him something to indicate we will be pounced.

    2) give us the ability to shake him off

    3) lower the damage by either a half or a third.

    You are essentially pinned down, cant move or attack, there is a guy on top of you (im actually secretly hoping its a chick >_>) changing your facial structure and to add insult to injury the enemies can still shot at you.

  5. well i have played it since 2011 thats closed beta, and if you keep ignoring and living in your pink world, well i dont wanna be in your place. anyway i have as much as you rights to complain about this update, if you dont like the complaints move along, the facts are there, if you just ignore them thats your problem not mine. once again, if you dont like my complaints, just like as you say about the raids (optional) commenting is also optional, so if you dont like, you may as well dont comment and less comment with ilogical stuff.

    One thing is about complaining stuff thats needs it and entirely another to claim stuff that flat out isnt true. Same thing with people complaining that perfect world entertainment is diging their roots in warframe. It is just ignorance.

    This has nothing to do with this 'pink world' as you say. I have my own gripes with warframe but i would not flood the forums on a daily basis whining my &amp;#&#33; off. If you are going to complain then complain about the fact that Jupiter is still the only place to look for neural sensors for example. Complain about the things that actually deserve it.

    Complaining about a fictional fabrication of warframe community (in this case stating that this game is p2w)is absurd on a ludicrous ammount of levels. 

    People need to start looking at the facts for a change: everything in this game that is tied to its mechanics is FREE. Ill say it again: anything that isnt a cosmetic is FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You should count your lucky stars that DE has one of the better f2p models out there and that its NOT p2w. Seriously, there was a discusion recently about p2w/f2p and DE has proven that their current model is thus far supperiour in many way to most other f2p models.

  6. Dps may be same but it totally needs maxed mutator now to be able to sustain you trough most missions

    so put it on the weapon. before the this nerf the damn thing didnt have a single weakness. Hell i just had to click in t4 missions to kill anything that isnt a corrupted bombard before nerf.

  7. Few things:

    1) its a 2 minute AFK timer.

     

    2) If the 2 minutes elapse before the mission ends and you come back and do anything (moving, shooting, using abilties, etc.) before the mission ends the AFK is reset and you get all of the rewards.

    The only time you lose out on end of mission rewards is if you are AFK the last 2+ minutes of the non-endless mission.

     

    3) The AFK timer does not affect endless missions.

    I have done endless missions, such as survival, where I was AFK for 7 minutes in the middle.

    Came back, did some stuff and got all of the rewards, including the ones I wasn't there for.  Verified it with my friends to make sure I got everything.

    Same thing happened in a T4I where I had to step away for a round.  When I got back to the Liset I had the reward for the round that I was AFK on because I came back and did things before the mission was over.

  8. This is one of the rare cases where i will say: dont like it, dont use it. Personaly i find Chrona to look alot like a dragon and i personaly would of find it epic with and without this current helmet. The only change i would make to it is make the snout a tad thicker and shorter.

    Minki's design of a dragon is rather new and imo awesome looking. Seriously there are so many stereotipisations of the dragons lately that im getting quite sick of it.

  9. Its not the damage is the fact that it eats through ammo, and the fact that it has a three second reload compounds that ammo problem. A bigger ammo pool doesn't fix it's efficiency. The kickback is not a problem, as i can drag the mouse down, but the kickback is way too much.

    There is a simple solution to that: pistol ammo mutation. Fixes all its problems. 

  10. Was 60 in U11. Then after U13 it was nerfed to 30 for seemingly no reason.  

    The reason they nerfed fury was cause they buffed the attack speed of all melee weapons that were in the game at the time. Why they made that change tho i dont remeber but i do know there was a reason behind it.

  11. Ever since this new tac alert came out ive been having severe problems with joining a team. Either i get kicked out or im not getting any invites even tho they are sending them. 

    I tried reloging several times without any success.

    For a good damn reason. Ive too in my hands this weapon for the first time today. My wife has aquired it a few weeks ago and even tho i told myself that i wont ever touch it (i generaly disslike the meta weapons) i decided to give it a try.

    I logged her account, remodded the weapon to have three elements and left for the only quick mission she had that is higher level: T3 Exterminate.

    Needless to say i was shocked. After 5 missions i opend my browser and took a look at warframe wikia only to find out that this weapon has a MR of 6!

    SIX!!!!!!!???

    Seriously this weapon needs a MR of 10 for its power. Its insane. I was literaly one shoting everything that isnt a bombard.

    There was no reason to aim, no reason to hold the fire button. I literaly aimed a enemy and clicked once. For heavy gunners i aimed for the head and clicked once and thats it.

    DE, WTH were you thinking when you made this. 

    The only enemy i wasnt able to one shot was the corrupted bombard and that is only cause i had no radiation and at this point in time i doubt it would even matter.

    If you dont want to nerf this weapon DE fine, dont, but giving it such a low MR is unacceptable. 

     

    Either give this weapon a higher MR or reduce its damage. Its not funny when you can one shot stuff at lvl 35+.

     

  13. Id like to say how i agree with what you say. But instead im gonna say this: if you use cheap tactics (like corridor bunker), insanely op weapons and crazy powerfull frames the game is easy.

    Here is my suggestion, go play a different game. It is this kind of behaviour that will get DE to try and please your kind of players that will screw every one over with god knows what.

    Funny things: people say the enemies are too easy to kill > de buffs enemies > people say the enemies are too hard > de nerfs the enemy and makes a new enemy to improve gameplay > people say enemy too cheap...

    Im not saying this community is bad ( i play lol i know what a bad community looks like) just that its turning into a spoiled princess that doesnt know what it wants. 

    Back to the topic tho: if you find the game too easy stop using op weapons. This is not about gimping yourself. DE made a mistake and buffed/released some op S#&amp;&#036;. Either use those op weapons and breeze trough or dont use them and play the game propperly. In either case the rest of use dont have to suffer cause you find the game''easy''.

    Oh, and please, do like this 3h game of yours, im rly interested in seeing it.

  14. I think most of the problems with melee stem from the fact that it's not the main focus of the game, this is not a spectacle fighter or one of those action RPGs (continent of the ninth, dragon nest, etc) and I think it cannot be. T

    Here is the thing tho: melee IS the other half of the game. Both styles have been promoted from day one with both trailers and the gameplay itself. The problem is, however, so deep that the only way to make melee 100% usefull would be to change ALL aspects of the game from the ground up.

  15. I love the way this game works personally. When i have the money i pus some in it and when not i farm for stuff. Ill never undestand people complaining for the stuff the get for FREE which is about 90% of the game. FREE stuff people, all you need to do is play it, whining about it never helps.

    Same thing with this AKjagara. People complain that ''takes too much/long to build''. I say instead of looking at the foundry play the game. Makes the wait tolerable and game more fun.

    The only reason i posted this here is cause im not at home atm and posting this here already took 15 mins of waiting. Besides, i want one just one person to read but raise awareness in both the players and DE why melee is not 100% viable as DE wants us think.

    Now on to the response.

     

    Dear mr Mogamu.

    While i do enjoy your videos and always go to them for advice i have to say your last one concerning melee in warframe actually deeply concerned me.

    Here is why: 1) most of your points are actually, imo, false; 2) melee is actually even worse off than you claim and 3) (personal oppinion) it finnaly took someone from the, more famous players, to say something in detail about this here melee system.

    SO, lets get down to it.

    Now im mostly an unknown player in this here community but im active on the forums and am trying to improve the game by playing actively and making comments on some of the stuff here. However i have used mostly melee since i started the game almost two years ago and i prefer melee above all else in this game.

    So where are your points false, exactly.

     

    Well first off Dakra Prime, while an awesome weapon indeed, is NOT the only weapon that is viable for melee only. Sure the Crimson Dervish is by far the best stance in the game atm (my oppinion) but its not the only one. Sure most melee weapons are unviable (quite a bit of them actually) tho at the top of my hat now i can say that Tipedo, Orthos Prime, Galatine/Gram, Dragon Nikana, Jat Kitag, Dual Ichors (just to name the most popular ones now) are quite viable with some of them being even better than the Dakra.

     

    Now as far as Life Strike goes im on the fence with this one. Without using your WF abbilities i have to say this mod is a must in most of the cases unless you are a master in all things Warframe and can dodge every hit, BUT if you are using your abilities and only melee then its not entirely neccesary. Hell you dont even need invisi Loki/Ash to do it too as most weapon finishers can easily kill a lvl 35 heavy if you manage to stagger them.

    Beleave me i tried using only melee in high level missions without using warframe skills (both squish and tanky warframes) and i have to say while its not extremely hard its not a walk in the park either, but more on that later.

     

    As far as stamina goes im in total agreement on this and im not gonna mention anything other than with the way recent events have been playing out stamina has t be removed from the game in order to make melee viable at all levels of the game.

     

    Now you mentioned the combo counter and a way to improve it. Im only half ok with your proposition. Yes the melee counter numbers need to be halved but reducing the reset timer to two seconds is suicide. Four seconds is already too short unless the enemies are grouped nearby you dont have to run to them. Most locations in this gamer are so large and the enemies so spread out that most of the time counter will reset before you even manage to reach them even with coptering/sliding/parkour. IF anything the counter needs to be increased and expanded in order to be able to last us for some survival/defense missions.

     

    AS far as your build tho, i only have on thing to add: rush and reflection. Both awesome mods that are a staple in all of my melee builds and have saved my life in more than one occasion. Reflection in particular  as it causes most enemies to stagger themselves giving your a good ammount of time to run in and cut them down. Rush is self explanatory.

     

    Now as to why melee is worse off than what you say. While many may not agree with me here(and probably trought the post, all ill probably get alot of flak for this post anyway) stances and their ''effects'' in melee are just one of its downfalls.

    Why?

    Well while they are cool looking and flashy they dont bring much else to the table (aside from crimson dervish which gives insane damage boost). By the time you finnish some of the more flashier moves the enemy has backed away and has begun to attack you. Hell ive been cought more than once in a heavy ground slam simply cause the window between moves is too big. Speaking of the frames between moves, some of the combos are quite lacking in fluidity of movement. Sometimes i even have a felling like the frame that im using resets to the idle stance before contining with the combos.

    There is also the fact that in some occasions the cc on the strikes dont work at all. Even with some faster weapons there are moments where im attacking and the enemy is just staring in my face and emptying his weapon of choice in me without so much of a flinch. 

    And thats where melee and WF powers come to play. Playing Warframe with melee only means that you either kill your enemy fast enough that they dont have a chance to strike back ( gets alot harder to do at later levels) or you die. Meaning that the only way to actually use melee only effectively is to use warframe powers as most weapons dont have any reliable cc in their kit aside from the ground slam.

     

    As far as im concerned im done here. Im not doing this to insult anyone or dispute their ideas or oppinions, just stating some things with my own arguements. My appologies if i was rude it wasnt my intention.

     

    EDIT: I havent even mentioned the one thing thats supposed to save melee: the acrobatics simply cause DE has stated that they are working on it in the last Devstream.

     Now as to why im not directly pointing this to Mogamu. I already have, and second this is a response to his video that goes in detail with his own oppinion and not a simple ''copy/paste'' of his url and asking what everyone else thinks. On another note ive been trying to rase awareness on the melee system for a long time and am trying to do so AGAIN.

     

    ps. The post above are my own personal ideas and experiences using melee actively in this game. Yours may differ.

  18. An auction house would be pretty bad for the game's economy. 

     

    Auction houses don't work in ARPG-esque games. With trade chat you have to put in more effort, it feels like you earned it a little bit, and you can buy and resell trivially. If DE put an auction house in we'd get a flood of people botting it, and people would price fix. It would just generally be unpleasant for the person who casually trades for what they need. 

     

    Having to find someone to trade for stuff creates an illusion of scarcity and keeps the price of some things propped up while keeping the prices of other things down. With an auction house so many prime parts would be 1p if it were allowed, because I know I personally have 20+ of some things even with the ducat trader and I'd gladly trade them for 1p or even a fraction of a p because they are utterly worthless to me. In the current economy you can sell/buy parts at 5p-10p no problem and everyone just kind of does it.  

     

    The AH was one of the worst features of D3. Even in WoW, the auction house mostly only worked beacuse you were buying and reselling things that came in bulk. But even there, people baronized it. I know at the end of WotLK I had over 1m gold between a few accounts and completely took over a bunch of markets. It was its own little game for me. Warframe's items don't loan themselves well to an auction house. Just resources would, but those aren't tradable. 

    On the other hand i have stuff i want to sell but i cant cause of several reasons: 1) my eyes cant follow the chat so i have to more or less scroll most of time and by the time i notice and contact someone to sell its too late; 2) typing in WTS is mostly lost in the sea of other things sometimes forcing players to stay in trade chat for over a hour trying to earn some plat; and 3) there will always be people that want to screw the economics of a game and Warframe is no ecception with prices that go up and down at such a rate where sometimes i think the trading chat turned into Wall Street.

    An auction house will not destroy the economics for warframe any more than its happening now and it might actually improve it for all we know. What i do know is that if they add the auction house i might finnaly sell something in this game without waiting for a hour to sell one item while at the same time i could of played the game for a hour.
