  1. Thanks and gratz to Republican-Guard, MCJM and TheOneKyro for sticking it out and helping find that last bastard Grineer who decided to spawn inside the ceiling of a tiny door room on THE LAST WAVE (20!) of that artifact alert.

My chat's still broken so I couldn't say this in game. Good job. Doubly for whoever spotted it first. I'm just glad I was able to get to it through the wall from outside that room. I was so &!$$ed when my grenade wouldn't attack it through that vent.

Enjoy, everyone, and remember to check every corner when the wave doesn't complete.

NB. This was post hotfix 8.1.5!

edit: I saved the EE.log if any DE crew want a look but I won't be able to upload till tomorrow. Gotta run after such a long mission.

  2. My left pinkie is pretty buff after years of shift=sprint and ctrl=crouch and I've had melee mapped to my mouse 'back' key since before Warframe existed. Never really had a problem with the controls here.

I mean, one of the first things I did in Warframe was remap everything but that took all of 2, maybe 3, minutes.

Also, E should be the 'use' key in every game :p

  3. Just noting: I got this error on my first login after 8.1.4 but after exiting and restarting the launcher no more problem. Could've just been my anti-virus being slow detecting the new game version. Or, y'know, just about anything. But it was a once off for me.

edit: using 'Avast' anti-virus. Had no problems re. it with Warframe.

  4. I've just bought a new router. I'm going to try a little hacking with my modem's superuser access to disable all the NAT and firewall functions. I'm going to get it as close to being a dumb modem as I can and make an ad-hoc bridging mode to try and bypass anything the gateway does and use the new router instead.

No dice with this. There's no way to turn off the gateway's NAT even for the DMZ ip. Just got 10053 as per usual.

Any progress possibly rolling back some chat changes, Glen?

I'll be looking at a new ISP end of the month anyway now but I know first hand how frustrating it is so I don't want to see anyone driven away by this thing.

I have no idea what to tell them if I call.

Fiia, try to find a way to disable the NAT on your Vonage box. I don't know if it's possible but it sounds like your connection is going through a double NAT the way it's hooked up. If you can't do that, maybe get a cheap switch to plug your PC and Vonage thing into?

  5. Not sure when I'll have time to try this, hopefully tonight or in the next 2 days.

I'm guessing whatever the modem/gateway/router does that screws up this connection will still be there but at least we'll have some nice 802.11ac wifi from the new router :p

    Wish me luck.

  6. I've also started tinkering with my MTA, got it set to the optimum ammount of 1472+28(header)=1500, works fine with pretty much anything so far...

Oh, my bad. I should've made it more clear. I meant MTA as Multimedia Terminal Adaptor. That's the integrated phone line in cable modems. I was wondering if it was somehow interfering or if one of the IRC fixes was being misinterpreted by modems with MTA.

I think you're talking about MTUs? Maximum Transmit Units?

Edit. I did try messing with my MTUs as well but it didn't do anything to the 10053 error.

  7. Thanks for the update, Glen! It really is appreciated.

Looking at a few of the routers mentioned here, is it possible this has something to do with MTA or eMTA? At least some of the cable modem/routers mentioned here handle MTA (Including your 'Vonage' box, Fiia ;) ). I'm not familiar with all of them but it could be a common thread.

  8. Oh, wow, didn't realise this was being discussed (finally :p).

While I put this in the ticket from 2 1/2 months ago I might as well share here. My chat was working perfectly until Update 7.4 which included chat 'improvements'. Ever since I've only had error 10053.

Even though it's likely my router/modem with the problem it's more than a little irritating to know that the system is capable of working with my router and did in the past.

I'm running a Netgear CVG824g. It's a terrible cable modem 'gateway' (includes a router) from Optus. Because of the duopoly on cable net in Australia they lock down pretty much everything about their modems. I can't update the firmware or even put it in bridge mode to use a proper router. I have tried connecting with my PC in a DMZ and all the firewall features turned off but just as others found out, this doesn't do much. I did manage a 10054 at one point though :p

Oh, I have no problem with mIRC (also ThrashIRC and more recently MetroIRC). Been using it for years which is one of the reasons it took me so long to believe it was my router with this particular issue.

Don't suppose there's much chance of rolling back chat changes to 7.3 state huh?

In the mean time I'm looking to kick my ISP and go to the other equally bad one. Hopefully they've got a better cable modem though.

edit. Noticed Melonade is using a related modem/router to mine. Maybe something Netgear can help with then?

moar edit. A little while back I found this thread about IRC issues with recv 10053, the user found a solution somehow. http://www.pchelpforum.com/xf/threads/mirc-10053-software-caused-connection-abort.113600/#post-685051

Seems like it might be using some built in mIRC features though. No idea if it could apply to Warframe irc but the guy did say it was a problem with his 'dlink', presumably a router or modem.

  9. Just a hilarious bug

Clicked a mission and wanted to check the Arsenal while I waited but this happened and froze everything :D

(Council members: This is not the 'frame you're looking for ;))

  10. I like the idea of a tile/room that could randomly be placed in the mission.  Have it keyed to the planet, so Pluto would have one that had the names of the pluto people on it... mars would have same room, but mars names... etc.

Other thing that might be cool.  Make it a REQUIRED room for the Boss planet.  Like set it just outside the room/tile in which the boss is located.  Not only does that mean you have to see it to get to the boss, it could also be a marker saying "hey, next room is boss room."

    I really like this idea.

I also have no problem with the current lots of names just disappearing. They look so bad like that :/

I'm sure it was a great idea when DE thought they'd only get a couple of GMs per planet but then they did extend the "Founders" program a hell of a lot.

  11. I haven't been able to confirm this but I've heard that the colour does change. You just need to change a colour, hit escape and it should apply. The problem is with it not updating until you leave the 'cosmetics' interface.

  12. While it's been posted before I don't think this issue is getting enough attention. DE just say it's down to their 'partner' who handles the transactions. This 'partner' however has wildly inaccurate currency conversion rates.

A little while back when I purchased my founders pack the Australian dollar was trading several cents above the US dollar yet they offered the pack for an equivalent of $11USD MORE than if I paid using USD.

Looks like this is still the case and it makes me very disappointed that DE hasn't either given this fantastic 'partner' the boot or done anything practical to remedy the issue.
