  1. The Gray Ones. (Infamous rebels). Concept for “Allies Of The Tenno” thread.

“Gray ones” because they meant to be this hostages in gray jumpsuits.

Rebellion with dark story and bad ending.

Rebellion, what was started at Ceres by group of patriots with several points of view on “how to love motherland properly” but joined by one aim - do not give Vay Hek’s forces enslave their home to make it one big workyard. You may guess right - they failed. But they continued their “work” - rambling through Origin System they made rebellion their job. They did not scorn the dirty jobs, as politicians, military, colonists and even “Lotus Rebellion”, known as Tenno, did not disregarded their help. Before it was too late.

  2. [ONE MORE FRIENDLY FACTION CONCEPT]

    - Cpt Vor whyle inquisition of the Gray Ones hostage.

“Where were you when […] ? But now you are heading against […] when [...] !”

“Transport, communications support, weapon. This costs a lot of credits. “

“War is expensive thing - only leaders of the Board and Queens can chip in war. Even regular boardsmen  or Grineer general can chip only in little shooting to the colonists.  We can not anything. There are two ways to gain money - fundraising and crime. We are using both.”

    - common phrases while taking a quest from the Gray Ones’ NPCs.

    Rationale for Existence: Ceres history

Ceres was one of the first colonised planetary bodies. This place was perfect for spaceship manufacturing, but not very friendly for living here, before Life Support Systems evolved and live zones of Ceres was supported not only by oxygen and fodder stations, but by magnetic field generators too. Then Ceres became industrial center of Origin System. In same time Mars became Scientific center of Origin System, but this is different story… but at least,

Ancient War changed a lot. Except Ceres.

Before Grineer came. Ceres was sweet piece of pie: little weak planet with strong manufactures was drown in corruption. It seems to be easy - Vay Hek came as a savior, who should punish corrupted establishment and to bring peace and order.  This is how rebellion was started. Hek’s intruders started this rebellion in the best traditions of “Uncle Hek”. Patriots were befuddled by Hek and brang him on the plate with blue bandlet more then half of their motherland.

Lot of them realized their mistake and ran away - to the Earth. Earth met them as heroes. It was ironic, because when Vay Hek got the Ceres, rebels who stayed here was executed as war criminals. In same time former Ceres rebels became Grineer commanders. They came to their enslaved motherland with their battalions as jailers. They were hated, but accepted. Soon jailers started to die. “Clone’s life is short - we can’t ignore genetical deviations factor” as was said in reports.

When all undesirables were dead the “Gray Ones” rebellion was started. Ex-jailers became rebels again with a help of Grineer turncoats.

    Organization and Behavior

Gray Ones do not have hierarchy. This is a bunch of spy and force cells all over the Origin System. They have very strong conspiracy. You’ll never think what this thin shuttle seller with wife and four children is an elite killer of the Gray Ones, as you’ll never recognise turncoat Ballista behind the bartender of an elite club for Jupiter soldiers.

    Lore and Insights:

NPC and events give insight to story of Ancient War and “Vay Hek rising” periods. We know Vay Hek is a bad guy and Origin System will became a better place without him, but the Gray Ones will explain - why. Also we could know about some aspects of Kela De Thaym's private life from intruders in her elite garrison.

Why beloved by Queens Cptn Vor still Cptn? You’ll know it! And you’ll know how he outsmarted the Lotus.

Why brave and honest veteran Lt Lech Krill  joined Vor? What secrets Tyl Regor keeps? Story of Sargas Ruk family? - they know it all! Also you’ll learn how Corpus use people, story of Fhrod Bek’s rising and some dark rituals of Merchant Cult.

    In-Game Units

    to be expanded

    Friendly Hub:

No friendly hub. You can meet the Gray Ones agents randomly in secret rooms (and, obviously, as hostages in gray jumpsuits).

    quests, events, missions etc:

Lot of the Gray Ones quests may be taken from hostages in gray jumpsuits.

    … to be expanded

  3. Here's my first (quick) pic for the Red Veil Ghost. Its only a beginning so don't thrash me too hard about what is wrong. I am going to do at least three more versions. just adding and subtracting things on this image till I get something cool. I've got some good visions of armour plates.

    10431164_759439790769648_602223299647964

    huh hot :)

may be make his armour different colour? I mean to use for the armour some standard Grineer olive (or black or metallic) shade as a base and to "paint" it by "wraith" motives what would be look more like camouflage (I have no idea what I just write out :D). just suggestion :)

  4. Ch7.5. Action.

*While landing at the Spear outpost*

    - Now… Go! - voice of Cantis sounded from the special communicators.

    - Wait! - Borrok jumped from the levitating shuttle to the landing place, - this junkyard more messed than before. Give me some time to move barrels from here for proper landing.

    - Barrels? He said barrels?! If Grineer hit us it would be… Boom! - Laino was bit hysterical.

    - Calm down, he knows what to do. - Cantis sad. She couldn’t say any different.

    - Done! Olteco - land! - Borrok waved his hand.

    *Shuttle landed*

    - Waves are clear, we may start. - Laino sad.

    - Prepare positions, - Cantis commanded.

    - Always prepared, - Olteco sad.

    - We are on the position, - Borrok sad.

    - Shoot! - Cantis commanded.

Couple barrels exploded near outpost from Borrok’s fire. Laino was watching the ladder. Borrok shooted to the technical holes of outpost. He knew - this holes are near the terminal, so he has a chance to hit someone here.

Screams sounded from outpost, but nobody went out. Grineer prepared their positions for the counter attack. In same time Grinner soldier appeared on the ladder, there were two more soldiers behind him.

    - They preparing for counterfire, retire! - OK, this is not what exactly Borrok sad, mostly he was swearing.

Laino lied still without a motion. One turn from dera. Missed. Second turn. One of two soldiers who ran close together hitted. Only after this Laino get up.

    - Calm down! - she said. OK, she tried to say that, but the way how she exactly said it made all crew silent.

*Couple minutes later in the shuttle*

    - Waves are clear. Seems Grineer do not want to report their captains about this accident. - Laino sad.

    - Will see. - Cantis said. - Olteco, where are we going?

    - To my rented cargo. We may stay here for one or two days while situation will be defined. Food and bed included. - Olteco answered.

I know, I know... lot of grammar and syntaxes mistakes here. this is why I need grammarnazi

  5. I am unsure where this can be used, so I just go ahead and ask you guys.

I really wanted to add diversity and fashion to the people inhabiting the solar system.

Sinse hair 1.0 is yet to be to be RevealeD, I assume everyone us bald.

How to solve this? Implants and weird hats FTW!

    Tell me what you think.

    sketch1408315106124_by_gaber111-d7vl1w0.

make wires from the hair, make skin color metallic- and I'll take her to a Safo cyborgs :)

  6. Thing is despite Warframe been a rather dark world I would rather the Red Veil stay been viewed as a "rebel movement" instead of been labeled as "terrorists", perhaps if your scenario was reworked to use a pirate group instead, or a more extreme group then the Red Veil.

um... thought I should write "IMHO"... rebels, terrorist - several names, but the rose will smell as rose. rebellion is a movement, terror is a method. rose is flower, rose is a color.

to divide rebels on "good" RV and "bad" not-RV rebel-pirate movements... ok, though it may be fun :) "challenge accepted" :D but this guys whatever will say about RV smthng like Sargas Ruk says about "Tenno honor" :P

    UPD

I've just noticed what this may be a way how history schoolbooks are writing in my country XD

though it should be fun experience :)

  7. While I do believe stealth mechanics need a rework I don't think this is the thread to discuss it, while I have suggested some new mechanics for the most part they are on a more macro level like the solar map UI and general mission layouts, rather then new ways of killing/subduing enemies or a change in overall game play style when in mission. My focus has always been more about lore expansion and creating an emotional connection with the game through the use of NPC's and sympathetic factions, I have no intention of expanding the scope to include in-game mechanics such as stealth.

I'm not suggesting new mechanics I suggesting complex mechanics. eg: extermination with drain of shields in The Safos concept.  or we have now ingame "nightmare" missions - this is complex mechanic too, but not new. I'm suggesting this kind of mechanic :) (UPD: and I really would be sad if this thread will become another "lore project". "lore projects" belong to fanzone.)

I have an idea. RV wing just preparing for "something suspicious" (as Lotus would say) and Tenno should check what's the deal. here we could see "the dark side" (described in polite way. *) of the rebellion (and make some stealth). so it would be quest about Tenno intruders who help RV in their stuff.

*I mean not only this part where "terrorism and killing people are bad", I mean what rebellion is hard, not all rebels are good people, show some turncoats, show how "rebellion grows and eat it's children", show how "strong-ones" (boardsmen?) use rebellion in their purposes etc etc

    what you think about it?

  8. I had read it before. lot of good ideas but most of them need some game mechanics rwork and... lot of love with engine source.

also I like your point of view on missions, except some moments like ... um... I'll call it "death 2.0" :) I hope your approach would be accepted somewhere in this thread :)

  9. Actually Operation Avalanche involved us killing elite Corpus, not untrained rookies (seriously those guys were nasty), but that's besides the point. As for your suggested morally ambiguous quest I have a few issues with it, first of all having a situation where a school full of students is taken over by 'terrorists' and even potentially killed is a bit heavy handed for a game like Warframe, something that would draw unwanted negative attention to the game, pretty much ruin the image of the Red Veil in the eyes of the player, I also don't think one should be put in a situation where you would have to fight the Red Veil as their purpose is intended to be a sympathetic faction to the Tenno, not a potential enemy.

A better morally ambiguous scenario that would fit the game better would be something like having a rebel base come under attack and give the player the choice of assisting the rebels in repelling the attack or using the attack on them as a distraction to achieve another mission of greater importance (resulting in their death).

I sad I don't know how to be polite :) whyle gradivus lot of players helped grineer to enslave colonies of the mars and all was OK. I mean I just can't make trivia in such genius way how it was made with gradivus :)

Trivia is about one of the wings of RV, not about RV at all. And I loved this game because there is no black-and-white. Tenno are not just the knights who make Origin System balanced, they "fight for money" and "hunting for treasure" (and make a balance stuff in same time. UPD: also tenno steal money and resources from soldiers' closets, even when they help this soldiers :D). I think RV shouldn't be just good guys who fighting bad guys.

about mechanics - all of this were for mechanics, for stealth mechanics. I suggested several complex mechanics for "repel the enemy attack" in The Safo concept, there I wanted to suggest complex mechanics for stealth.

So I'll be glad if you guys in this thread would help me to rework this stuff in more appropriate way! :) as I see there are 3 main problems: 1) we shouldn't kill RV members , 2) trivia should be more polite, 3) there should be place for complex stealth mechanics what I wanted to suggest

Would you help me with this?

  10. Red Veil quest (event?) inspired by my first thoughts about “Avalanche Offensive”

When I read what we will have to “take” Eximuses while their training my first thought was: “oh, will we kill young rookies (kids) in corpus barracks (school)? cool - this is more rough then killing wild kubrows for mod farming, destroy their “nests” for eggs and wait before your pat kubrow will die from genetic disease “on your hands” to empty stasis slot from it!”. But it stayed in my imagination :)

    NB:

I tried to be polite but I just don’t know how to be polite. So. We all know what “rebels” and “insurgents” are just soft term for “terrorists”. There is no difference in methods between “resistance” and “terrorism”. Who is rebel, who is insurgent and who is terrorists solves mass media, propaganda and winner, and never history solves it. So this is quest (event?) with Gradivus-like moral dilemma.

    Trivia:

Many important members of one of the “wings” or “branches” [insert name of branch/wing here] of Red Veil was catched by Corpus. Existing of this branch/wing is impossible without them. Branch/wing should free them by any cost, or surrender. What means “surrender” for insurgents? - to be catched and killed in torture or betray the rebellion. Why didn’t they asked Tenno help again? - oh they did! But even tenno agents couldn’t find a prisoners (because Corpus patched lot of holes in security systems after “Arid Fear”).

So branch/wing seize as hostages students of elite Corpus school of economics, while their rest in camp. Security of the camp was low, ‘cause no one could ever think what some group would be so crazy to attack this camp - kids are useless members, big amount of forces needed for this attack and, obviously, this attack is a death sentence for all captured rebellioners. But crazy ones have advantage on the war, and this is advantage of “surprise effect”.

Corpus managers start parley with terrorists, because this is not profitable to show the colonists what corpus don’t care about kids, whose learning in elite school costs lot of money.

    Dilemma:

to support terrorists (in the name of greater good) or to help Corpus to free the children (what means what this branch/wing of Red Veil would be “cutted”).

    Red Veil side:

“Loud” exterminate, spy and sabotage missions on the Corpus ships.

    Corpus side:

Stealth rescues (of groups of students), sabotages and assassinations.

  11. Grineer Defectors?

People have suggested the idea of small numbers of defecting Grineer clones be included in the Ghosts/Red Veil, whether or not this would be possible depends on how deeply ingrained loyalty to the Queens is with the Grineer. I personally suspect that clones have obedience imprinted into them during the cloning process to a point where they would jump off a cliff without question if their queens commanded it, that said it could be possible for the process to fail every so often giving clones more autonomy then they normally would have.

I think this idea have right to exist. mb not for inner logic of grineer lore, but because "betrayal is one of the most important parts of a war. sometimes betrayal is beautiful". corpus is a merchant cult so betrayal of corpus soldiers not so "beautiful" as betrayal of grineer.

and - yes- this is according to nowdays situation

  12. Ahh yessir it is. Although since this puppet is already fairly heavy, I'm going to have to get more creative than the typical spool and wire approach which operate most of the puppets you're describing. Most of the time spool operated puppets have a solid core so that when you guide the wire it pushes against the solid body (using it as a pivot) to operate the head. This puppet has a soft core with very loose wiring (so the body can be posed). Mmmmgh, I'm tempted to just make him a posable prop, but we'll just have to see.

XD And I don't think I can sell it, because...well the design is owned by DE.

    I'll take it as a gift :)

  13.

On another note my thread has gotten far larger and more attention then I had anticipated (which is a good thing), but it means I'm starting to hit the limitations of what I'm allowed to fit into one post and as such I'm beginning to have to cannibalize some of my earlier posts to continue what was started in the OP. This has happened because I've done major additions to the Pirates and Smugglers section which is drawing heavily from Vard's thread and using a lot o the concept art that people contributed to it.

    in-dex-in-dex-in-dex :D c'mon we have sugar-free cookies on darkside :D

  14. I have topic in fanzone with index of my warframe related lyrics, fanfictions, fanconcepts and fanarts. but this is not fanarts in original meaning - most of them are illustrations for fanconcepts and fanfictions (and they are pretty sketchy).

so, should I make topic for fanarts in fanart subforum? I ask it because fanarts are offtop for fanzone, but all this arts are published in posts of my topic in fanzone subforum and if I'll make separate topic in fanart subforum it may look like kind of spamming or advertising...
