Once you get ready to grind them out it's fairly easy to get enough toroids/cores to max your standing for a couple of days. The more important thing with imo are Solaris united and Ostron standing, those should have a sigil.

Well, you can progress with low SU or Ostron standing, you'll miss on some goodies, but you're still effective. Every newbie guide I've seen soi far strongly recommends to get the Quills/Vox stuff ASAP before progressing the main story. (I can try to push forward with no arcane and freebie amp, but I think I'm consistently advised not to for a reason.)

  2. So, I played the game for 250+ hours, completed The Second Dream and The War Within, and while I have no illusions about my skills and look forward to all the stuff yet to see, I believe that I've seen enough to give some meaningful feedback and I'm still enough of a newbie to have some fresh perspective.

My biggest issue with the game so far is that there are some bottlenecks and chicken-and-egg loops in it that simply make no sense: You need archwing launcher segment to get anywhere on the open maps (especially on teams, if you don't want the bounties completed before you're even there) and you need a relatively large amount of resources only available in the Plains, and the Ostron rep (to get the spear to get the fish oil) to craft it. Would it really be difficult to make Konzu give the built launcher to you the first time you interact with him? "By the way, here's a gizmo, don't know what it is, but The Quills said you will find it useful."

Bronze/silver mod drops: I frankly don't understand the logic here, why Point Blanks and Pressure Points are dropping everywhere but Serration and Hornet Strike are more like gold mods: you really need to know where they drop and purposefully farm to even have a chance at them? Seriously, basic single-stat  mods, any of them, should be all about the same difficulty to get.

Similarly, there could be a one-time quest like Howl of The Kubrow to get some specific gold mods: Lotus (or Maroo) contacting you and offering a repeatable void tower (like Maroo's weekly, but perhaps with a nerfed drop table to prevent too much cheese) which is there until you get, say, Flow, then, maybe tasking you with completing a nightmare and explaining on the way that different enemies, activities  and locations can drop different mods (something the game isn't actively communicating right now.)

Archwing mods. Yes, nobody plays pure archwing, but the big part of it is that there are really maybe 2 missions that are farmable right now, and again, some "common" mods that are actually fairly difficult to get: Energy Inversion (accordinfg to the wiki, it's Interception rotation B, when anyone rarely stays that long, Shield Dragyns (why, their "shield" isn't even an actual shield) and Cetus, which uses archwings, sure, but isn't really an archwing mission) Just making some more mission variety in 20-35 range to make leveling and farming mods more enjoyable could make archwings more enjoyable for moreplayers. Or make the underwater enemies drop some archwing mods as well... I really like archwing, and I think there's a potential here, if more players could be attracted by greater variety and easier grind.

The Quills and Vox Solaris... Could they offer a sigil? Maybe not right away, the Quills grind teaches you to deal with the Sentients and use spoilermode, but once you progressed a couple tiers, and maybe with some extra costs (offer it as a BP, with, say, nitain cost...)

Lenses. As far as I understand, right now they only drop from T3+ bounties, which isn't that bad, but it would be nice to get them from somewhere else as well, Lua, maybe, or The Void, again, to offer some alternative, like there is with unvaulted relics: bounties are the best farm for them, but you can get them in other ways too.

This isn't a criticism, or a demand for a loot shower, just some suggestions that could save a new player some frustration and smooth their experience, at least I think so. Hope this is helpful.

Looking at your later comments. The amalgam mods aren’t that great. So don’t stress about getting them all this week when the thermia fracture comes back around once a month. Your progress from each return is remembered so you won’t have to start over or anything.

Do a fracture here and there, but mostly just get the nondamaged mods that you will actually use and the endo to need for upgrading them.

Weirdly enough endo isn't an issue, thanks Nora for making me search "sculpture farming tips" 😄 It's just mods themselves.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement 🙂

Well, I see a big problem here, serration/point blank/hornet strike/pressure point are those mods you WANT maxed. After those the multishot mods, then depending on the weapon the criteria mods, 90 elemental or 60/60 elemental. Be also sure to build the right elements for the enemies you fight.

Yea. Serration I just haven't gotten around to yet because I was levelling shotguns when I got it. (point blank and pressure point are maxed, but I still only have flawed hornet.) I have maxed elemental mods, though, again, not a full set for pistols.

I can hook you up. (Sidenote: being in a good clan can also help a lot with getting new stuff, whether it's grinding together or just trading)

Thanks, But I'll try to grind them myself. I want pride and accomplishment I guess. A clan... The one I'm in is tiny with most people being offline, at any moment, but I'm sort of reluctant to look for a busier one just yet.

Are you referring to the Thermia event? On Youtube, look for "Warframe Thermia Cheese" for some idea on making your life easier.

I did. All I've seen depend on the mods I don't have. 😞  (Though I'm making effort to farm some of them) I still don't have un-flaved Flow or Continuity even.

You can farm plat to buy lens from others.

Also, bounties are much easier solo. In pub, there's always at least one dead-weight in the team.

Which warframes are you using? What's their build? Which weapons are you taking to open worlds?

Excalibur and Wukong Prime are @lvl 30, both with the reactor and adapter, had a rotten luck with getting the last Rhino blueprint (40 runs or so) but It will be built day after tomorrow, I built several other frames bu7t didn't play them much yet. Weapon-wise I have Broken War, and Guandao with semi-decent damage (300-ish physical, and ~2*300 elemental) I'm still finding guns I like enough to get catalysts for them (MR7.)

Mods. Random trash. I just got a non-flawed Serration, still didn't fully upgrade it. Which is about the same with all other mods. It's OK in the chart though.

  8. OK, I'm quite far along the chart, but in the open maps a baby seal probably has better survivability than me. I do not want to team on those maps because of my PC problems (it crashes fairly often on those maps and I don't want to annoy other players by constant disconnects. Not to mention that with the event on, my spot in the Vallis is likely gone by the time I reconnect anyway.) And, frankly, I don't like to team. (Why look like an idiot who can't play in front of others?)

Then I learned (after the spoiler quest) that the only way to get more focus lenses is... Yeah, bounties (or real money)

I guess there;s no advice here other than "git gud," "get a better PC" (it's just above the minimum req and is in fact a Linux box, using custom SteamPlay build to launch the game, which adds up to this not being a game's problem) "get those event mods next time," and "not earning focus won't gimp you all THAT much later" I'm just venting. Back to grinding for better mods, discovering after a few hours I'm still a baby seal in bounties, rinsing, repeating...

But If anyone has any ideas besides that I'd be thankful.

  9. Thanks everyone, caves seem to be the way to go, Already made some progress without much trouble.

Caves have hotspots? Are hotspots the only locations where the baits will work? How do you tell if a cave is a current hotspot?

No way to tell from the outside of the cave, otherwise they look like open-water hotspots (sort of oily patches on Venus or bubbly water on Earth.)
