  1. Okay so, quite a while back I had I suggested that we make Excalibur a melee frame and put forth some ideas. A lot of people didn't like the idea of making him a melee frame (or getting rid of Super Jump), so I spun it off into a completely new warframe concept instead which has since become popular. But now, since the devs have announced that they WILL be making Excalibur into a melee frame I thought I'd share an idea that would make him more interesting:

Make use of the Combo Multiplier. His augments already help to feed the hit counter and multiplier, so make it more central to Excalibur. His armor could be a base number multiplied by the Combo Multiplier. This would give him bonus defense for meleeing. Also his damaging powers like Slash Dash and Radial Javelin could work the same way. The base damage of each would be lowered, but it would then be multiplied by his Combo Multiplier. Not only would this reward him for meleeing, but it would also make it so that Radial Javelin had to be charged by melee to make it powerful. This would keep people from spamming it while still keeping it useful. I think his speed should also be affected by the multiplier for added effect. This plus the mobility of Slash Dash would allow him to get to enemies fast enough to keep his multiplier up and therefore his attack and defense bonuses. He would start off relatively normal but then would build up momentum by meleeing making him increasingly effective at it.

This doesn't conflict at all with the direction the Devs said they wanted to take Excalibur and doesn't require them to change any of the powers they talked about. In fact, I think the new Slash Dash version they mentioned would compliment this nicely. So this should be something they could work into the new Excalibur without too much difficulty.

I'd also like to point out that if Excalibur is going to be a melee frame, he's going to need a way to resist knockdowns. Otherwise Heavies and Eximi will rip him a new one when he comes at them.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. Part of me really want this to be incorporated into Excalibur but part of me doesn't so that my warframe concept isn't shredded. I think either way would be good though. Really I just want to play with a frame that takes full advantage of the underused combo multiplier. If you want to see the concept that's centered around this idea and has kind of runaway with it, here is the link. https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/392264-vector-the-momentum-frame-augments-and-new-art-added/

And if you have an opinion whether this idea should be incorporated into Excalibur or remain in a seperate frame, I'd love to read it in comments.

  2. I just saw a pretty cool passive for a different momentum frame. Sprint speed steadily increases for the duration of the sprint but the bonus is zeroed by coptering, jumping, sliding, etc

Yeah someone mentioned something similar on this thread, it's an interesting idea. I only hesitate to add it because I'm worried that adding to many unique passives will make him a bit over the top. I do like the idea though.

I didn't know there was another momentum frame. You remember it's name?

  3. Bad accuracy, slow projectiles, and high recoil are trademarks of the supra that make it unique. Its staying. (Or it had better.)

If you want a perfect accuracy, fast(er) projectile, low recoil weapon, get the dera.

We are not making a second dera.

Bonus DPS is icing on the cake. Fancy DPS numbers mean nothing when you spend 90% of your time reloading. Out of ammo? Even better, you can't use the dang gun. Reload and ammo tweaks come first, DPS comes second.

I guess you aren't reading my posts before you argue against them. I didn't suggest that we increase the accuracy, bullet velocity, or reduce the recoil. I would therefore NOT be remaking the Dera. I suggested increasing the DPS to make it more viable in comparison to the Boltor Prime which has it beat in almost every category. I also suggested that the ammo capacity be increased. I'm not sure who you are arguing with but it's not me. Please read the OP.

  4. How about a supra buff instead...

It would not make me pleased in the slightest to see my 4 formad, potatoed supra become 100% obsolete because of a new spray painted supra that has better stats.

    The supra's main problems are

-tiny clip size for its fire rate

    -longest reload in the game

-Horrendous ammo economy forces you to take rifle ammo mutation and rifle scavenger

    Solutions to said problems:

    -Set ammo to 250

    -Recharge ammo when not firing

-May as well use the imperator's ammo system.

    What this will do:

-Free up a mod and aura slot

-Make the weapon more user friendly(no more insane reloading)

    -Make the supra worthwhile

The supra has enough dps, the problem is the horrendous reload, clip size, and ammo economy.

Except that it still won't have the DPS of say the Boltor Prime which has a lower mastery requirement and also deals in puncture damage with more accuracy and higher bullet velocity. Even after all those upgrades it still won't be worthwhile in comparison. Giving the Supra more DPS than Boltor Prime would make it viable without eclipsing the Boltor Prime though . You would get to choose between accuracy and speed or raw power.

  5. How about a supra buff instead...

It would not make me pleased in the slightest to see my 4 formad, potatoed supra become 100% obsolete because of a new spray painted supra that has better stats.

Supra buff was mentioned in the OP as an option. And it's already obsolete.

Four latron Variants? I can only think of (Base, Prime, Wraith).

    But yeah, SupraV please.

You forgot Tiberon which requires a Latron to craft. It's basically a burst Latron.

  6. I know that this isn't a new idea and I'm not going to bother with art since it would just be a resprayed Supra, but we really need this. Supra right now is disappointing. It's got a high mastery limit and some good stats, but slow projectiles and no accuracy. It has soooo much potential though and a few tweaks would liven it up quite a bit. I'd be okay with it being a buff or even better, a new vandal.

It's DPS is high but not enough to balance out the low accuracy and projectile speed. I kind of like the low accuracy and projectile speed though; it makes the weapon more interesting. I suggest boosting the DPS even higher. I'm talking Boltor Prime DPS or higher. It won't cause power creep though because the accuracy and projectile speed won't let you actually get that DPS in practice without being on top of the enemy . It also needs a bigger magazine Prisma Gorgon / Soma Prime style.

One last comment, please don't release a new Gorgon or Latron variant. I think I speak for almost everyone when i say that 3 gorgon variants and 4 Latron variants are enough. I think most of us would prefer having variants of more weapons rather than more variants of the same few weapons.

  7. because someone had a 0.01 second completion time, dang cheaters.

They all do on the global boards. I didn't even realize the global boards were resetting because they are always 0.01 s. So it doesn't fix the global boards, it just makes it so that you can't have a clan competition. Really they should fix the exploits or at least make it so that any times under 15 s are automatically deleted.

  8. It's really annoying that we can't actually use the clan leaderboards to compare scores because they seem to reset randomly. And at the same time the Global leaderboards never seem to reset so that the high scores are all obviously from exploits. The exploits themselves may have been fixed but the scores that came from them are still on top so we have a leaderboard of times that are all 0.01 seconds. That is exactly backwards from the way it should be. Also could we get an alliance leaderboard?

  9. Thank you! I'll be making edits to the OP soon, something for level 70+ enemies that some might find interesting. And maybe adding in some other ideas for other units, as they come up.

Oh, but I would say that the regulators shouldn't teleport around too quickly otherwise they'd be really annoying. Not difficult, just annoying. They are sometimes already hard to find even stationary. You'll hear them but can't find them. You don't want to accidentally create the next roller. Movement would be better with perhaps only occasional teleportation.

  10. However, some of the idea stops it becoming an excellent frame, mostly the powers. Besides ability 3, most sound like a rehash of others abilities. If you could tweak the others e.g ability 1 remove the Excal like dash and make it a forward arc force projection that would make it more in line with concept. A particular bug bear is nearly everyone makes ability 4 an AoE hammer of God power.

So to summerise, this frame is good it needs some tweaks to make it exceptional. This is my opinion, and I'm most likely in the minority on this so hopefully it's of some benefit.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you gave an honest review. I'll think about the things you mentioned, and see if there is someway to improve him. He was originally based on an idea I had to improve Excalibue, hence the similarity. I think the first ability needs to stay as some type of mobility ability to make him able to keep his MDM up, but I'll give some thought to it and tweaking the ultimate.

  11. The only way infinitely scaling abilities will ever work well with gimped damage abilities is:

    A) An enemy level cap.

    B) Instilling a version of percentage based damage.

Now, sure, one could probably do the job without the other, but, honestly, I sincerely believe the game needs both.

    A) What would an enemy cap mean?

I'm going to be working a little bit backwards, based on the title of this topic (yes, I wrote the title before the body; wanna fight about it?). This is where, you guessed it, the death of endless missions comes in. For an enemy level cap to work in a mode designed to have you fail eventually, it would have to be reworked once the enemy level cap is hit.

Let's say the enemy level cap is 150. Now, in your T4 Survival or Defense mission, once these enemies appear, you will be forced to extract, and the mission will no longer progress. You 'won'.

However, this would bring about an imbalance between tiers. This would mean all lower tiers should stop at the same wave or minute T4 would. The enemy cap is lower in those missions.

"DEVO! Nuuu! That's like level 90 in T1 (idk actually). Why would you do this!"

And I would say out of necessity, for point B.

    B) Percentage based damage?

Yup yup yup! A great way for abilities to scale is to be percentage based, rather than stock numbers.

That one target ability that is useful for nearly nothing because it has a lock-on requirement? Yup, it now does 30% damage to any 'light' unit and 10% to 'heavies'. Nekros and Nova look to be a lot more appealing to mod toward their full arsenal, huh?

Now this should not be a blanket change. Lower levels should have more damage impacted, and higher less. I'm going to have to let you guys or the dev team try to sort that monster out, but all of my experience points toward that being the best solution, especially since this game is very non-linear.

Endless Mission types becoming a little more endful is essential. Without it, these abilities would just become another form of powercreep, or they would just become useless later, and that is not what should be happening.

I like endless missions personally and would hate to see them go. I just had a thought that might help and it's related to the "percentage based' idea. For damage abilities, the damage would scale with level but not quite as fast as the enemy level. This way they are viable for longer, but there would still be a limit to their effectiveness as the enemy level increases. That's not a new idea though. Here's the new part, CC abilities could be made to suffer a similar fate. Vortex range could be somewhat dependent on enemy level for example. The higher the level, the shorter the range. Nova's Molecular Prime slow efect could gradually lose strength as enemy level increased. I think you see where I'm going with this. In this way the damage abilities wouldn't be completely outmatched by the CC abilities. They would ALL become less effective over time. This would also put a practical limit on how long an endless mission could go without instituting a hard cap. What do you think?

  12. I love this idea personally and don't get all the resistance to it, much less the irrelevant tangents. Primes often make non-primes obsolete, and are made available at the same time as the non-prime version. This makes no sense. I love the idea of making it so that you have to acquire the non-prime version first, level it to 30, then you can Prime it if and when you gather the prime parts and blueprint. Priming the weapon would change it's stats to whatever the prime version had. I love the idea of keeping all forma and catalysts and reactors as well so that non-prime weapons will still be worth some investment.  I think that once primed though, the weapon should reset to level 0 to be re-leveled much like if you'd added a forma except that re-leveling it would increase mastery. Otherwise this would make everyone who came along after the change lose a significant amount of potential mastery points. This helps to solve a couple problems: some powerful primes being far too easy to get and non-primed versions becoming obsolete.

+100 for a great idea sir

This poll actually doesnt make any sense since due to stat boosts on primes they became mandatory and regular variants simply doesnt have a place within a game after certain point.

Youre asking established players if they want to avoid putting resources on new more powerful frame by replacing their old one, ofc theyll agree, new players who will be all screwed by this idea however rarely come to forums, then rest of the ppl screwed are those without regular frames and ofc theyll say no.

Its like asking ppl at toyota dealer if they are interested in buying toyota.

Ppl wont do a quest same as they didnt farm for regular frost for such amount of time, its pretty normal.

P.S. I have no idea what this guy is talking about. No one is getting screwed. There are only 3 options. You already have the primed version of a frame, so nothing changes for you. You have the non-primed version and will have to farm the prime parts and build it to get the prime, just like the way it is now. Or you have neither, in which case you'll have to farm and build the regular and then the prime, just like all the people who earned the regular version before the prime was released which is everyone who's been around a while.

  13. I missed them in the void, partly because the drop rates for Ruk and Kril have been really low for some reason.

I never understood why people were so upset about them being in the void. They are used in loads of very useful and highly used items like Forma, Potatoes, etc, etc. Im happy they're back, ill be farming some out soon to replenish my collection.

But no one goes to the void to farm cells. That would actually be horribly inefficient since they are only rewards, not drops. And in the void they dilute the reward tables. If you want to farm cells, play Draco, Ceres with a Nekros or Pilfering Swarm Hydroid. You'll be swimming in them.

  14. I don't know who all remembers, but the Orokin Cells were eliminated from void rewards for months because people were pissed about going 1 hour and 5 mins in T3 survival and getting 3 cells as payment. Removing them was the right decision. So why are they back? At what point in time did someone at DE say I want to take a giant step backwards?

  15. Since DE just decided to nerf Excalibur again by making his Radial Javelin LoS, I'm bumping this.

If you want to see what I want to do to Excalibur to fix him, you can look here:

If DE doesn't want to do that then I'd like those ideas put into a new frame like this:
