DE is just like that. Frankly, to update old frame models is unprecedented in WF's open beta history. Cleaning up and fixing models yeah, but outright changing them? Unheard of. Shame too, because I love frost. He's not my main, but he is a very versatile frame. Good CC and good defense, plus damage and mild debuffs, build him how you like really.

Best case scenario that I can foresee is a universal armor set that just -happens- to fit well on frost.

    #StayFrosty

Doesn't mean this may not be the first.

DE always said never say never.

  2. Here is my entry!

    Original location found here: http://liger-inuzuka.deviantart.com/art/Warframe-Synergy-of-Ice-and-Will-InPrnt-627358226

Note for DE: The painting is available in full resolution, and is in 3:2 aspect ratio. The beveled crop of this image is for presentation purposes only.

My depiction of synergy, in abstract, is the synergy of two partners on the field inspired by the philosophy of Ancient Sparta. My Frost and Loki depicted stand proud, together, in a graphic-design style illustration.

  3. Good Day,

I would like to give feedback on what I am noticing as an over-time implementation of cloth physics across most all appropriate Warframes and cosmetics. What I mean by this are any coat-tails, syndanas, weapon sugatras, etc. What I am noticing is that as they are changed they are beginning to behave the same way, no matter what the item actually is.

While I commend DE for the upgraded physics and animation, I urge you to reconsider having all physics behave the same way. This is having the visually displeasing effect of creating uniformity across all of these items. Everything seems to move and behave in some kind of floaty, wet silk. Chains and armor should feel and move in a "heavy" way, such as chain sugatras or like Chroma's tail. But instead Chroma's tail, taken for example, floats around not at all visually congruous to its heavy look. Chroma's pelt looks heavy, armored, the body of a dragon, but its tail floats around like a ribbon?

Limbo's coat-tails look floppy and wet, like he just got his coat out of the washing and forgot to starch. Hydroid is a heavy frame himself, his coats float around just like his beard on the Triton helmet, it looks quite odd. Certain syndanas shouldn't have the same floaty physics, such as the Vaykor Syndana made of heavy cables, and sugatras that are chains should feel heavy as they are made of metal.

I understand physics changes are made perhaps for performance or outdated techniques, but please reconsider making all physic items, from chains to coats or anything else, to all behave the same way regardless of their weight or materials.

  4. 1. Will we as Warframes be able to choose to follow Teshin or another guide besides Lotus?

    2. What are your collective thoughts and plans following the way Update 19 was handled? Between u18 and u19 was the largest gap between updates so far spanning several months only to be met with partial deployment of u19. Will we see future updates deployed in this manner, is this an outlier, or can we return to traditional deployment?

I can't wait for this. You seem to be developing the first ever Chroma skin (unless others are doing so in private), so this is pretty exciting. Progress so far has flow, the scars are very (for lack of a better word) natural in appearance.

Thank you for saying so! I think I have seen other Chroma skins in the Steam Workshop already if I am not mistaken.

I am going for a more natural weathered look for Chroma. I can't make large gashes or damages because he is symmetrical and it would look obvious and unnatural. This Vojnik would be more of general weathering, wear and tear, like an experienced survivor of the derelicts perhaps.

  6. I must comment about the way Update 19 was deployed in parts, including with delays, it doesn't feel like an actual Update anymore. I enjoyed the "chapters" episodes of Warframe as it develops, but these feel like normal patches or hotfixes, perhaps maybe the regular 0.5 updates in the past. Not to mention there is not a clear way to track the hotfixes now or get a clear idea how the update is progressing when instead of numerical values it just goes in like "Lunaro 1, Lunaro 2, etc."  The huge gap between update 18 and 19, which is what over 6 months now, feels dry and the smaller chunks feel flat to break up the dry period. One huge update like you've always done feels like a reward rainstorm to end the drought so to speak. Perhaps updates in chunks would be okay if they are not preceded by several months of no major updates.

So now that model swap is a category in the Workshop, does this mean this will be getting posted there soon?

I do believe the "Model Swap" category is for weapon models. Last I am informed of weapon model swaps are easier to incorporate due to being basically stiff objects with little to no animation. However Warframes have a lot of animation and limitations and a very specific style for modeling. That would be difficult to moderate. Unless this info has been changed recently?

  8. Survival in general needs a rework because quite frankly I find it stagnating and boring, it is also one of the few missions you have no control over time constraints. As in, a player or a squad can manipulate their team load-out to influence the mission to go "faster" however in survival you are locked in the time periods of rewards. 40 minutes is 40 minutes whether you spend that time actually playing and killing mobs or sitting in a corner with a farm load-out twiddling your thumbs.

I have experienced these things before, sometimes I want to go public just so I can get more experience, or have a bit of help if I am leveling something. Long time ago when Trinity's Blessing worked on 100% invincibility for a duration, I got stuck in a survival mission for literally over two hours because this Trinity and her friend would not let me extract. She kept us invincible and I was useless against level 100+ enemies and they simply wanted a personal record. I knew because I asked and they outright refused to let me go extract - I just wanted to level up a little bit for 20 minutes and ended up going 2 hours.

If we do get a choice I'm gonna go with Stalker! All Stalker wants is to free his Warframe brothers and sisters from the grasp of the Lotus and the Operators! (might not be true but I want to believe so!)

Well said my man, I am on the same page. The game is called Warframe, we play the Warframes, I am all for Warframe rights. The first chance I get I am leaving the Lotus and the children behind!

The Lotus used to be a neutral game guide for the player - but since the Second Dream she's inserted herself into the player's affairs too closely and is living out some kind of mother's anxiety through the children. That is so creepy, as if she is forcing herself onto us to be a mother.

For about three years before then, we as Warframes followed her blindly, it was the Warframes going into battle and dying for the sake of this "balance" she spoke of. During the "Gradivus Dilemna" she told us to go save our Warframes from the Zanuka Project and in doing so we put at risk civilian lives in the wake of Grineer Expansion to save a few Warframes that in the end are tools - while the real Tenno were locked safely away in the moon. So then, she risked civilian lives for nothing? But when the time comes to finally meet her in person, the Lotus walks by the injured Warframe on the ground to go speak to some child we've never seen before. That visual struck me as a powerful visual story element, at least to me. That she cares not for our Warframes and only for her surrogate children. I believe she doesn't even care for balance or order, she just wants to play mother.

It felt really wrong how she was talking to the child saying, "this is who you really are" and all I can think is that, no? I am behind you on the ground with a sword in my chest and you're talking to a potatoe-faced child?

  10. Nullifiers have always been annoying, they have unique laws and rules that disregard anything we're supposed to abide by.

The "get good" mentality is harmful in discussion about design. Just because we can deal with a problem in different ways, doesn't mean that problem shouldn't be addressed or isn't a major design flaw. It's like if you have two bathrooms in your home, and one of them gets clogged - will you unclog the first bathroom and fix the problem or just continue to use the second bathroom and avoid the problem?

Nullifiers are a cheap design in concept, they just have a "catch all" 100% disregard to all Warframe abilities. No Warframe ability has a catch-all effect like this. Nullifier bubbles are indestructible, shooting them from afar they have a FIXED damage rate and shrinking rate, meaning no matter what kind of damage you inflict or at what speed the bubble will decrease at a fixed rate. Then there is the stacking effect, where groups of Nullifiers in higher leveled missions overlap with one another, and overlap their allies. They protect them perfectly, and as you are trying to shoot down a bubble because perhaps several Bombards and Gunners are pelting you mercilessly, the overlapping bubbles continue to re-grow or generally resist going down quick enough.

The Corpus in general have too many ability/statistic disrupting effects, from Nullifiers to Combas, Shield Sapping Ospreys, Leeching Ospreys, its not a matter of it being a challenge or not it simply is. not. fun.

Why not consider removing the Nullifiers entirely and replace them with Corpus Combas/Scrambus? The Comba/Scrambus is a much better and more elegantly designed unit with the same concept in mind. They don't have annoying bubbles, they nullify certain abilities but not all of them, and are quick and agile to make up for the fact they have no giant bubble for perfect protection. As far as design goes, it is insane to have two of the same enemy concept, the Comba and Nullifiers.

  11. Like everyone else is saying, please make an accessories pack! Surely you could find out a viable profitable compromise that is good for both parties? These packs are only good deals for new players that really missed out on everything offered, which is not the majority of your player base that is willing to purchase these packs. I would love to get the Targis armor, but not drop 60 euros for them, considering I have everything else

  12. I wouldn't want that. The game is called Warframe, we put all our effort and investment into our Warframes. There have been players happily attached to their Warframes over two years before The Second Dream launched.  I want less to do with the children.

I wouldn't want to see the game shift its focus towards the children.

Thanks for the the info! I just got one more question. For the tint mask I know we need an alpha mask to get it to work in tennogen but when uploading does it still have to be a super png?

Yes it does, that's how it works in-game as well. The TennoGen viewer is a handy shortcut to let you know if your maps are working well there, then it should work that way in-game. The tint-mask must be superPNG.

  14. Interesting conversation piece.

Personally I am quite invested in Warframe not only as a long-standing player for three years now, but also as an artist whose had the honor to contribute even in some small part through time. Beginning with the inspiration of Zephyr, the Tenno Design contest which gave way to the Juggernaught, Manic, and Riot Moa enemies, all the way to now with the TennoGen Steam cosmetics. I love Warframe for its design and dedicated developer team, and even if sometimes I may feel burnt out or frustrated, I always look forward to playing with friends and new updates. I want to see the best for this game.

However in recent months, since the reveal of The Second Dream, I am feeling torn in two, between my personal disagreement about the new lore and my investment in this game. I do not know how much I like this new direction of story-telling, that seems to be more about the Operators, and less about the Warframes. But that is a topic for another time. Perhaps you could say I am nervous in a way one is when they cautiously optimistic about something they love.

Nonetheless I trust I will be here for a long time to come.

  15. This isn't a tale about Sortie nerfs, but the Corpus faction direction in general including the general difficulty curve of enemies vs players in Warframe. This Sortie issue is a side effect, in attempts to make the game more difficult these arbitrary conditions and levels are thrown in. This is a traditional sense of difficulty ramp seen in older games, where the higher the difficulty one or two stats are grossly scaled, such as more enemy health and more enemy damage.

However in Warframe, there seems to be a vicious circle surrounding us players. If and when the enemies are overwhelming, countless in number and spam abilities, nullifying effects, one-shot attacks coming from everywhere at any moment, you as a player are forced into a situation of suppression. Meaning, since we have no realistic and fair way of combat when we are faced in a difficult situation such as this, then the only play style we have left is PREVENTION. That means suppressing the enemy forces to prevent us, as the players, from getting into a situation of being overwhelmed and subsequently killed.

This is where you see blinding Mirages locking down entire maps, Exalted Excaliburs acting like turrets decimating from behind walls and cutting down nullifier bubbles, this is where you have BladeStorming Ashes who rely on their invulnerability, as well as Hysteria Valkyrs locked away in the safety of their abilitiy, Shield Polarizing Mags decimating entire fields of enemies, and any support Warframes used to keep these builds going. All these builds suppress the enemy because if the player relaxes but a moment that could be enough to be killed instantly.

Then you see DE react to these builds and 'nerf' the Warframes, change their abilities so these tactics are less effective. They are deemed as trivializing the game, and as "cheesing." Which in part is true, but it is not because we want to trivialize the game this happens, this is not to punish the players. This is a symptom because the enemy we are up against are in their own way "cheesing" us. Creativity to use our full arsenal of weapons and Warframes goes unrewarded, because only a few given builds will help you through these unfairly difficult missions.

We can only hope that DE's promises to check the enemy scaling in the long run will address these effects.

In the mean-time, I would also like to comment about this social practice of saying, "get good."

I despise this argument because it invalidates any form of discussion over design flaws. If everyone behaved that way, almost no problems or issues will ever be addressed simply because you can 'ignore the problem' or avoid it or do something else altogether.

If you have a house, with two bathrooms, and one toilet in one bathroom gets clogged. Would you unclog that toilet and solve the problem, or would you tell the homeowner "Use your other bathroom? Just avoid the first."

  16. I must agree that it is very true Trade Chat has the worse courtesy and manners of the community. I believe that one should retain and show their good manners regardless of manner of communication; just because we are online and have the luxury of instant messages does not mean I should sacrifice my politeness.

It seems that being polite and showing good manners is so rare, I have had countless people call me out, or respond with absolute confusion when I do so. Some do not even believe me and think I am a troll, and I had to convince some buyers that yes I really do have the Platinum and I really am interested in purchasing whatever was in offer. Some even berated me saying not to speak like that again, it is odd.

However I believe that what you show and put out is what you get in return, if I am well mannered I will get kind responses in return. It is mostly the case regardless of the few mishaps here and there.

Yes it is good to have direct and short business but it does not mean one must be rude about it, you can be impersonal but still be polite.

We cannot change the experience of Trade Chat as a whole, but you can control how you behave and even remain steadfast in the face of negativity.

P.S. While we are exchanging stories, I once had a player spit profanity at me and block me because THEY misread my advert. It was along the lines of "XXX Set 60p___ XXX Set 300p" and they misread it to say the second set of 300p was being offered for 60p. The private messaged me and said they would be interested for 60p, and I informed them of the mistake truthfully. It was literally a 3 sentence conversation before I was told to, "Die in a fire f***ot." Then blocked immediately.  I don't want to write the word as I deem it unnecessarily offensive for what was such an honest mistake? Imagine the short temper and aggression to use such hateful language in the course of like 10 seconds of conversation.
