  1. The best solution I see to this would be an across-the-board stat raise for all snipers and a unique set of mods, separate from rifles.

And while we're at it we can add launchers to this new sniper set to limit their obnoxious carrying capacity as rifles, but that's a story for another thread.

  2. Today I finished Miter, the last primary weapon available to me until Amprex finishes researching.

I say available to me, because there are plenty of other primary weapons, mostly Wraiths and Vandals, which I can no longer get, and I understand. Nobody told me to quit this game last year.

But what exactly is the logic behind making players wait for the Gorgon BP to roll randomly? Why was the Boar removed entirely? I don't entirely foresee an overhaul for them being the excuse, since Gorgon Wraith and Boar Prime exist and are more common than either or their predecessors.

Why exactly can't they just be on the market? Clan tech even. Something! It's torturous to know there are two completely mediocre and flat-out outclassed weapons that I can't even access, arbitrarily. This isn't even starting with the layers of RNG behind finishing other weapons like assassin drops and all the other various retired or unreleased weapons. I'm a rank 14 who has run out of a lot of mastery XP sources, but hates to see XP wasted on level 30 gear.

I get that exclusivity is a huge part of this game but I don't think these deserve it. The Gorgon on the market would make an excellent machine gun for newer players who can't access Supra or Soma for a much longer time. Boar could serve as an 'upgrade' to Strun in the same vein as Lato -> Bolto and Nikana -> Dragon Nikana, also good for newer players. And new players need all the help they can get, that's an issue that's been around forever.

TLDR I'm not butthurt about missing event weapons, but Gorgon and Boar should be more accessible, or in the case of the latter, accessible at all.

  3. All of Trinity's skills are broken, she just needs an entirely new set.

Like she's a "healer" but her only direct heal is Blessing.

Believe it or not, a well built team can last long into tower 3s without her. I've gotten to 65 minutes in T3S with a pickup group, with most of our success attributed to a radial disarm loki.

I'd even say hell, let her keep the invincibility on blessing but don't allow it to be modded for duration.

  4. The Titan Extractor typically gathers the most common resources a planet can drop - on Mercury for example, Ferrite and Polymer Bundles.

The Distilling Extractor is more likely to collect the rarer resources like Detonite Injectors and Morphics, but takes 2 more hours to process.

I usually deploy a Titan to Mercury or Uranus for polymer and I used to try and get my Distiller to collect Orokin Cells from Saturn, but it never came up with any. Now that there's no boss on Earth I'll put it there or Eris for neurodes, though it could be wise to use it on Jupiter for neural sensors as well, since they don't drop on any other planets.

  5. I use Flow, Streamline, Stretch, and Intensify on almost every frame.

Redirection and either Vitality or Vigor are good if you have polarities for them, but otherwise I won't use them.

I am not a min/maxer, mind you. You'll probably get people posting their max speed rhino prime 42-forma builds here.

  6. I quit this game for over a year because of the starting equipment and complete lack of the means to improve it. I remember how intangible a new piece of gear was back then, how unattainable a goal it was. I had to be carried to get decent gear before I could get into this game, but now I absolutely love it.

However RNG is still a huge part of progression even for me, at rank 14. Mainly because I had to run Iliad, Phobos about 50 times, and that is by no means a hyperbole, before a single Miter handle would drop, and once that finishes building and levelling, the only primary I will be able to obtain and get mastery rank from is the Gorgon. And how do we get the Gorgon again? Daily login rewards. What a joke.

  7. the 10k credits can stay, as I find it really useful especially for the new players.

After a straight month it's hard call a player 'new'. But I suppose scoffing at free credits is rather arrogant, yes.

  8. "Why are you complaining about free stuff, Seele?" I imagine some of you asking your computers. Well, you're silly, I can't hear you, and I'm also not complaining per se.

I'm sure everyone knows the struggle of eagerly anticipating their login roll and watching tantalizing prospects flicker by, to end up with Sentinel Item XP! for your rank 30 carrier.

Or how the day after you built Banshee, your roll was Banshee Research.

RNGs are a perhaps obnoxiously pervasive element to this game and it would be like peeing in the ocean to try and eliminate all of it, but this I feel is too easy a fix to pass up. I have here two proposed remedies to the login reward issue.

For one, it should be well established and well known to the developers that playing Warframe is a full-time job. My first suggestion is adding a fourth tier of login rewards for 1 straight month, with no new rewards in it, but rather removing the XP and 10k credit rolls.

This would be beneficial to the player who, despite weeks of crossed fingers and other RNG-influencing rituals, cannot roll the thing they're looking for - a Tower 3 Exterminate, a Glaive or Gorgon blueprint, a platinum discount, etc. If players want to continue rolling for XP, give them the option to voluntarily reset their login timer without a day's abstinence.

Suggestion 2, perhaps far more simple, is to make all the login rewards 'expendables' - either potatoes/forma, affinity, credits, or platinum discounts and make all the other rewards available elsewhere. Seriously, put the gorgon on the market or at least make alerts for it like the glaive.

TLDR I'm not asking for any handouts, just a little chlorine in the RNG pool.

  9. I like the SMG aesthetic but there's no real role they could fill that isn't already filled just as well by a rifle.

Grakata is baby Soma and Soma breaks the game. There's really nothing more to add unless we just ride the mimicry train and make a non-hitscan Corpus clone of Grakata that somehow managed to lose its crit rate and status chance because the Corpus tend to do that somewhere along their engineering process. Oh crap, that's the Tetra, isn't it?

  10. What I'd rather see is something akin to the Orokin Derelict with the keys either being a very rare drop or crafted from rare drops. This would be a ridiculously difficult, end-game area.

Using this key would bring the team to the Stalker's dojo, where he has gathered a following of other Tenno who have defected from the Lotus. With the tenno specters in the rail sabotage missions, this seems much more plausible from a technical standpoint.

Following OD's model, the players could have to scour for components to build the Assassination key from other missions, which could vary from OD's set to include things like Spy, Mobile Defense, and Sabotage. The assassination target would obviously be the Stalker himself, though preferably in a more difficult capacity than his death-mark instance, and rewards could include the usual weapon drops, as a means of procurement outside of the RNG-based system; or even a way to acquire the Stalker's warframe, as while it resembles Excalibur it is clearly not one. A frame borrowing abilities from pre-existing ones would be interesting as well - it could be the first frame with a customizable skillset, drawing from Slash Dash, Shuriken, Teleport, Smoke Screen/Invisibility, Absorb, and a unique skill in Dispel.

Given the unlikelihood of that happening, more feasible rewards could include dojo customization rewards such as a statue or rooms based on the tileset of the new area, new mods, or new weapons, as it can be inferred that the Stalker made his loadout himself, and surely he and his clan would have made other weapons besides Despair, Dread, and Hate.

  11. 1st ability would only affect direct health damage. Armor only has effect on the health values of a frame, so having it last till the shield depletes means that there will be little to no benefit unless your getting smashed by eviscerators.

I honestly didn't know that. It'll have to be reworked quite a bit then. Thanks for that!

  12. Updates: 24 May: Corrected the now-erroneous references to the old Blessing.

Now I know some of you read that title and thought, why do we need any more tanks? Between Rhino's Iron Skin and Trinity's Blessing, defense has never been too much of an issue for the Tenno.

However, being tough to kill is not the only requirement to tank. A tank needs to take hits for its team, and when poor Nekros is getting demolished while Rhino flits about relatively unnoticed, well, something doesn't add up there.

So I came up with this, a true tank of a warframe, with less offensive utility and mobility than Rhino but defenses and horde mitigation to shame him. That said, the comparisons drawn should end there; this was never intended to replace or defame Rhino, and I honestly hate that I keep using his name.

BALLAST - Clad in near-impervious armor, Ballast is an explosive presence on the battlefield who can shirk off overwhelming amounts of damage.

    Art

    Coming soon!

    Etymology

'Ballast' is most commonly used in engineering, nautical, and aeronautical terms as something heavy to distribute load and provide stability or control. In general usage, it describes something which provides mental stability or ease-of-mind.

    Base Stats

    Health : 150

    Shields : 250

    Armor : 750

    Power : 100

    Stamina : 75

    Sprint Speed : 0.8

    Aura Polarity: D

    Polarities: 4x (=), 1x (D), 1x (~)

    Powers

Reinforce: Ballast instantly replenishes his shield and reinforces his armor, adding +50 / 100 / 150 / 250 to his Armor rating, and protecting him from crowd control effects for its duration.

    Power cost: 50

    Duration: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 seconds

    Affected by: Strength (+Armor), Duration

Incite: All enemies in range will have their damage potential reduced, and ignore other targets to attack Ballast for its duration.

    Power cost: 10

    Duration: 20 / 30 / 45 / 60 seconds

Affected by: Strength (-enemy damage), Duration, Range

Outburst: Ballast exhausts internal energy in the form of a violent explosion, knocking enemies down and lighting them on fire.

    Power cost: 50

    Damage: 50 / 75 / 125 / 200 Heat

    Affected by: Strength (+Damage), Range

Lockdown: Ballast's armor shifts and he becomes immobile, but impervious to all damage. In this form, he will generate shockwaves through the ground that repeatedly knock down nearby enemies and may disorient them.

    Power cost: 100

    Duration: 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 seconds

    Damage: 10 / 25 / 50 / 75 Radiation per pulse

Affected by: Strength (+Damage), Duration, Range

    Alternate Power Concepts

Ricochet: Ballast completely seals his armor, reducing his movement speed to a crawl. While sealed, enemy bullets will bounce back at their sources, leaving Ballast unscathed in the process.

    Power cost: 100

    Duration: 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 seconds

    Affected by: Duration

Earthquake: Ballast puts all his weight into a mighty ground slam, triggering an earthquake. This inflicts heavy damage at the epicenter, but the quake will continually stagger or knock down enemies over a wider radius.

    Power cost: 100

    Duration: 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 seconds

    Damage: 550 / 1100 / 1750 / 2200 Impact

Affected by: Strength (+Damage), Duration, Range

    Theory

I touched on this in the intro, but to embellish a bit : why do we need a tank warframe when Trinity can make the whole team nigh invincible?

Ballast is designed to protect his teammates, and can at least do two things Trinity can't - protect them from crowd control, and draw aggro from the defense objective. He also boasts two forms of his own crowd control, without eclipsing other popular frames for the role like Vauban and Hydroid.

Could it be argued that it would be inferior in all other regards? I suppose, which is why I'm more than open to input and suggestions. This is designed to be a high level Warframe that newcomers may be put off to, as the low sprint speed would keep him lagging behind teammates in exterminate and capture missions.

Updates: I've introduced two alternative ult power concepts. Ricochet may instantly draw comparison to "masochist trinity", but the key differing factor is that Ballast will not be able to damage enemies by damaging himself. It's been considered reducing him to melee, with high-impact crowd control, but this similarly draws comparison to Hysteria.

Earthquake somewhat goes against the original intent of the frame, but to limit its offensive power, it would have a significantly smaller damage-inflicting range than most ults which would not be affected by mods. The crowd control portion would be.

    Closing

As stated, please submit your initial impressions and ideas for improvement. I have a very talented good friend of mine working on the art, which should be here soon! Thank you for reading.

  13. The idea of an ability failing for any reason feels.... wrong

Perhaps I didn't word it too well. Desecrate 'fails' when there are no suitable corpses in range; Soul Punch and Smite 'fail' when not properly aimed. Along those lines.

While your idea for Hawk / Eagle Eye increasing critical chance seems fair, promoting the need for precise aim seems befitting of a gunslinger frame. Also there are mods named Hawk Eye and Eagle Eye, those were some of my first name considerations as well until I remembered them.

  14. Wonderful! I was just recently thinking of how this game needed a frame focused on augmenting gunplay, rather than attempting to replace it.

I propose the name "Virgil", after Virgil Earp, one of the greatest (if not well known) gunslingers of the old west, and the one with the coolest name (we can't very well have a "Wyatt" or "Holiday" frame). Here are some skill concepts I thought of:

Sharpshooter - Virgil focuses, increasing headshot damage while tightening the spread of his weapon and reducing its recoil for an amount of time.

Execution - Virgil fires a powerful shot aimed for the target's vitals. While the power will fail without a firearm equipped, or while not aiming at a valid target, all enemies down the sight will be hit and knocked back. (I'll acknowledge right now how incompatible this is inherently with continuous and/or range-limited weapons, but I trust someone to find a subversion.)

Bullet Storm - For the power's duration, the user and nearby teammates do not consume ammo, allowing them to fire an unending stream of bullets.

  15. It's happened several times now, since U13, that getting downed will make you completely useless, even after being revived. While downed you will be unable to shoot, and your warframe will attempt to crawl, but not travel at all. Once revived, you can run in place, but still can't move or shoot, or use abilities. I have found no remedy for this beyond leaving the game.

The most frustrating occasion of this bug struck me whilst fighting the Grustrag Three. Once revived, I was unable to move the five feet to my final required Brakk piece, and Carrier had died as well, so I had to quit the session. I'm sure I'm not the only victim of this either, and while most instances go generally without consequence, moments like this are positively painful.

Unrelated, my cryptographer and cheater of death challenges seem to reset every mission, and I was awfully close to them before this happened. Now every first revive or cipher in a mission will give me the 1/1000 popup.

  16. I am at least somewhat interested in adding my clan to this alliance, by virtue of our similar values. To be clear, I am not the clan's founder, but am a Warlord, and undoubtedly the most active of us. I have been given the founder's blessing to lead the clan.

We are a very small Shadow clan, but active and devoted. The original Warlord built the vast majority of the Dojo and research himself, and also designed and uploaded our clan emblem; I finished the remaining research and built our Orokin lab and first solar rail personally. We have been trying to expand, but most people seem complacent with whatever clan they happen to already be in. Perhaps our standards are a bit too high as well - we are mature and skilled players, seeking to add more of the same. I am more than willing to help a new player, more than in-game progress I value core character.

We've had designs on conquering an existing rail in the name of tax abolition, but rightfully fear that we'd be overpowered by the opposition's sheer numbers. Even if we cannot seem to grow our clan, the aid of an alliance would benefit the procurement and ensure the maintenance of our rail, for the benefit of all Tenno.

In light of the recent technical difficulties, I would thank you for your patience on discussing our options. When I am next available I will further discuss adding Frame Raiders to the Revolution.
