Melee Parry Requires Some Reworking.

here are some of my ideas:

 

-Stamina drain only when receiving damage.

-Blocking increases chances to resist knockdown by a solid amount (either 60% or 80%)

-Blocking allows users to pass through corpus laser barriers

 

 

feel free to agree/disagree/add your own.

All of these idea have been suggested in the past. Blocking isn't really super high up on the list of things that need attention though.

 

 

Well it's an entire branch of game mechanic which is underused or ignored.

 

Blocking seems to be just slapped on to the game because it sounded cool on paper, but once it turned out it doesn't work as intended it was left to die.

Blocking needs an animation of deflecting bullets/lasers, think Metal Gear Gray Fox Ninja Style.
The stamina dropping when held needs to stay so you don't spam it, but it should drop slower and proportionally faster when deflecting.
Finally, blocking next to an enemy should push him back, just as the enemies push you when you're charging a melee attack.

In my opinion, those can save blocking, and anything else can either, break it or keep it useless.

They actually said this in a recent live stream. Their comments also seemed to imply that it is more likely to be removed than fixed.
