Redesign for Infested Ancients

Greetings fellow Tenno, and the one DE-Employee that reads this, have you ever been in a Dark Sector or anywhere the Infested are?

Then you know how disruptive (pun intended) and anti-fun the Ancient Infested are.

The problems:

  • They all look the same. It's, quite frankly, not that interesting to look at.
  • They, more or less constantly, stunlock your Warframes with grappling hooks.
  • The Healers don't heal, they reduce damage in area around them and heal themselves. I mean it isn't technically incorrect to call them healers, but still.
  • The Toxics roar-attack isn't properly telegraphed. You can't realy make out where you will take damage from this attack.
  • The Dirsuptors aura is a "Lose-all-your-energy-Card" in enclosed spaces (read: ca. 9 out of 17 tilesets).
    • Especially when the Auras of a Healer and a Disruptor overlap.

My proposed redesigns/tweaks: (Note: These are just my ideas, DE doesn't have to follow them.)

The grappling hook should only be used when the Ancients can't find a way to melee your warframes.

Ancient Healer:

  1. Keep his looks the same and remove his aura. Instead he is connected with his yellow tentacles to other Infested, which gives them ludicrous ammounts of healing.
  2. Something that looks like an infested cow, and make him hang out on in the backlines, where he spits healing-vomitTM at the infested. Removal of the grappling hook is a good idea here.

Ancient Disruptor:

  1. Remove the aura, and replace it instead with Electrical Abilities.
  2. Something that looks like an infested crab. When it hits you with its melee attack, you lose energy.
  3. Something that looks like an infested alligator. Moves very slowly but will stunlock you if he hits you in melee, draining all your energy.

Toxic Ancient:

  1. The very least, we should be able to better see the area his roar-attack affects.
  2. Something that looks like an infested scorpion, only attacks in melee and deals heavy poison procs.

You want to get rid of auras? Radiation procs or warframe-based confusion skills. Aura-be-Gone in a can.

Don't really disagree with them standing to have a bit more visual diversity, but the rest of your post reads as a solution in want of a problem. Neutering the Ancients to the point where you remove what little effect the Ancients already have in combat is definitely not the way to go about it.

A visual overhaul for the Infested would be fantastic.   Yes please.   I'd say including more enemy types,  but then DE would throw infested nullifiers in because they love ruining ability frames so much.

 

But giving the different kinds of Ancients unique looks would be great.
