Fist weapons

Ok so fist weapons in bullet points

-really short range, generally single target

-mid to slow speed

-across the board they average 30-40 base damage

Meanwhile we have weapons like gram prime that are also slow, but have much greater range, and do 180 total damage in an aoe. We also have a lot of people who would like a "one punch man" playstyle. I feel like existing fist weapons would be totally fine and balanced if you just switched the base damage to 200+ on the higher MR ones, most people still would take an rather take an aoe melee like the gram or atterax or whatever, or a ranged melee like the redeemer prime, and fist weapons would have a purpose for fulfilling the fantasy of punching an enemy so hard they get removed from the history of the universe.

Not too unlike a Mk1 Strun.

Seriously, the Gram Prime, the most powerful Melee in the game, destroyer of worlds, has the same base damage as a Mk 1 weapon. And people wonder why DE is reworking melee...

Bro, did you know that the same MK 1 weapon deals more damage than Stradavar prime! REWORK ALL THE WEAPONS AGAIN!

The Stradavar Prime also outdamages the Gram Prime in terms of base DPS. Gram Prime needs to close the distance and swings slowly, which means at base you need to account for about a second to actually achieve that. A gun can start doing that instantly, on account of being, y'know, a gun. Over that one second it takes for the damage to come out of Gram Prime in one burst of 180 damage, the Stradavar Prime has either dished out 300 base damage or 240, full auto and Semi respectively. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the regular Braton does much the same.

This is why melees in the majority (not all, but the majority) of shooter games deal far more damage than guns, often orders of magnitude higher. Melee, by virtue of having to close the distance and thus being far more vulnerable, needs a strength to counterbalance, and that's usually very high damage. Even TF2, which bucks this trend outside of a select few weapons, often adds utility or other functionality to melee weapons (Engineers wrench is a great example), and even then give Melee's higher chance to crit.

In Warframe this is absolutely ludicrous amounts of multipliers. Too many. Stance multipliers, the ability to stack crit to get higher crit multipliers than other weapons and condition overload enable melee to enter the hundreds in terms of multipliers. Is it any wonder that a go-to for dealing with wolf is to buzzsaw him down with a melee? This effectively means they are the worst and best weapons at the same time, to a hilarious degree either way.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Now we're including other data other than just the "damage"

Smart assery aside, nobody is wondering why they're reworking melee.

You're forgetting the effect melee combo multipliers have, few primaries can hit 7 digit damage
