Indeed.

I've never played the Fallout series, but to go from a computer tabletop adventure simulator to a FPS but still keeping the same experience (as claimed by others) is by no means an easy feat, I'll give it that much.

I think a problem that F3 and F:NV had was the fact that the V.A.T.S system was too efficient to use that normal gunplay kinda dulls in comparison. I still prefer F:NV because oh my god, the atmosphere of New Vegas and the characters you meet. I love them all.

To me, F3 just pales in comparison to the feel that NV gave.

Many people still doubt the magic of single player games, but when you don't have to worry about multiplayer concepts the storyline aspects shine through. Bioshock, Metro, Psychonauts, they all are great games.

Unfortunately that is the issue with a lot of games recently. They either focus on multiplayer and tack on a half baked and rather pointless single player, or they have an amazing single player with no MP or a very half baked MP.

I've only seen MP and SP meld perfectly in very few games, and even then, people rarely ever even see the good side of that. They just ignore it.

It goes without saying that gameplay is very important, if you have boring gameplay, then no one wants to play your game. You can have a story that answers the meaning of life, but if your gameplay sucks, no one would willingly want to play it.

John Carmack (the creator of DOOM) said this about a storyline in videogaming: ""Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."

And in all honesty, what he said ruined all respect I had for him. Every fibre of my body despises what he said. I adore storylines in video games, without it, we'd just be mindlessly playing an interactive piece of software with nothing to invest ourselves into. I've seen games like Armored Core (which I adore) that have minimal stories but amazing gameplay. The gameplay is what saves it.

And I've seen games like the Last of Us (A game I think is amazing) that invest too much into story without having gameplay that really makes it worthwhile to play again. Once you've played it, you're done. Sure you have the multiplayer, but again, it's another case of the story being the main highlight and the MP being tacked on just for the sake of it having it.

To make an amazing storyline and to also have amazing gameplay that makes you want to come back for more is no easy task. A lot of games fail in one or both of the sides, but the games that really make it shine out really do shine out. A prime example is Metal Gear Solid. Not just one, but the entirety of the series does its best to make sure you enjoy playing it, and also having a story that makes you feel interested in continuing. I cried in MGS4 when an *un-named* character died, and that shows that the story really hit me deep. I've played MGS4 5 times, and that's because of how well designed the gameplay was.

Wow did I actually be serious on this thread for the very first time...

So wouldn't GTA V count as a game with good SP and MP?
