Even after completing a mission the game will never force you to get back into a new mission without any input. If my group is in a rush, I just leave that group, change my gear, then find a new group. Mistakes can be made. Forgot to switch out weapon because of sorties conditions, doing riven challenges, opening vaults, etc. Just abort, fix gear, then jump back in.
