(NSW)Splurmphy
When Melee is bound to the same button as the "OK" menu selection on console, dying suddenly and accidentally leave the squad + losing all the Vitus/rare drops you just spent 30+ minutes getting because you were melee-button-mashing really makes you wonder—why is this mechanic even in Arbitrations? There doesn't seem to be any good reason why quitting after dying should wipe your progress. It doesn't discourage leeching, it doesn't discourage ditching your teammates at some crucial point (since failing the mission still gives you loot for some reason), and (on console) it doesn't encourage jumping/meleeing because those buttons are usually the same as the "Leave Squad" selection button when you die. It's also fairly rage-inducing when <5% drops can be lost so easily to nothing but bad design. If DE is hellbent on keeping this (bad) mechanic in, at least implement a 5-second YOU DIED screen so people can register what happened and make an educated decision whether they want to stay in or not. Discuss.
kapn655321
Sounds like they need to create a grace period before you can accidentally quit out, more than anything.

Yeah, I seem to remember something similar on PC when using chat (after you died) when arbs were new. It was either when pressing enter to send a message or pressing esc to close the chat window it would cause you to abort the mission. The reason why this was a problem was if you're the host wanting to let the other know that you'll stay to avoid host migration you could accidentally abort causing issues for everyone and skipping you getting anything. 21 hours ago, (NSW)Splurmphy said: If DE is hellbent on keeping this (bad) mechanic in, at least implement a 5-second YOU DIED screen so people can register what happened and make an educated decision whether they want to stay in or not. Dieing and not being able to revive (atleast when it first came out you weren't able to revive) isn't a bad mechanic but I do agree with a grace period so you don't accidentally abort the mission. To be clear, the "bad mechanic" is losing loot upon leaving an Arbitration mission. Semi-permadeath isn't bad design. On the YOU DIED screen, you wouldn't be able to press "Leave Squad" until a short amount of time (grace period).
