Currently, we have minibosses in the form of Assassins - everything from the Stalker to our Kuva Liches. Bursas, Juggernauts, and Manics also fill this same role, sort of. However, they're little more than just bullet sponges. What if DE put a greater focus on these types of enemies? Make a new sub-class of them that didn't rely on RNG to spawn, and required unique mechanics to take down, at least more than just shoot them. There's a million video games with fair, fun, and difficult bosses to take "inspiration" from. I feel like these special units need a healthy rework to make them require more skill to kill, not just good stats on your gun. We'd still have all the normal enemies that we can mow through just the same, except when a reworked miniboss shows up, you'd have to actually put in some fair effort into killing them.
