Questions:

1. Do existing clones go away if the actual companion goes into incapacitation?
2. Is there a UI element that tracks energy accumulation towards next clone?
   • If so, does energy still accumulate while companion is incapacitated?
3. Can the companion still generate clones while incapacitated?
4. Regarding the energy orb generation:
   • Does the actual companion also generate orbs, or only the clones?
   • Does the companion need to actually land the killing blow to generate the orbs, or do assists count?

4. I don't think so, no assists do not count.

If you want energy from a companion I'd suggest Synth Deconstruct + Equilibrium or Dethcube + Arcane Energize. Both only need assists.

Restorative Bond doesn't give more energy with Equilibrium either.

Of note is that clones are invincible, but seem to have relatively low aggro.
