What are the conditions for grimoire mod "Khra Canticle's" activation?

Every Canticle mod starts out with the conditional "Killing enemies grants..." except for one:

Khra Canticle
Enemies have a 12% chance to drop a Universal Orb on death. 

I don't have this mod yet, but I'm curious: does this occur regardless of whether the killing blow comes from your grimoire?  If another player gets a kill while you are holding the grimoire, does this effect activate?

I'd assume DE forgot to write it properly and that 12% rolls if you do the kill with the grimoire. Gonna check real quick and come back to you

Update:

Yep only kills from the grimoire trigger the universal orbs dropping. kills with other weapons don't generate universal orbs. I assume kill assists for when you hit an enemy with the tome and a fellow tenno finishes them off should also trigger the orbs. I can't test that tho.
