Both weapons as fine, It depends whether you want single target priming/control/damage or aoe priming/control.

You can also use Vulklok for the crit damage multiplier, but then you would nee to fit Tenacious Bond | WARFRAME Wiki | Fandom on your Wyrm.

Builds on weapons should emphasise statuses you want applied (60/60 mods), status chance mods, fire rate. In addition Helstrum should have Firestorm/Primed firestorm.

Example build for Helstrum: 3 Forma Helstrum Build by THeMooN85 - Radiation/Heat/Viral Helstrum Rifle for Your Sentinel - Overframe

Verglas builds depend whether you ant to it do damage or just prime.

You can skip fire rate/reloads if you gonna use Crowd Dispersion + Manifold Bond | WARFRAME Wiki | Fandom to apply statuses.

That example build should do nicely don't know about damage

As Zakkhar said, it all depend on the need this weapon is meant to fill in.

The Verglas, by having the same stats as the Glaxion, is able to dish out really good damages and to apply a lot of status procs in a short amount of time. Thus, you can for example use it to drown enemies in dots, or to quickly cap some elemental stacks like Viral for improving your weapons damages. The Verglas is the Sentinel weapon the most likely to be able to land kills, although obviously another weapon with a good riven might be able to achieve identical or even better performances.

The Helstrum on the other hand have very bad damages values and very slow fire rate. But it shine in other aspect: thank to his burst of aoes and high status chances, the Helstrum is able to prime packs of enemies quite easily. Fill it with elemental mods and fire rate and your Helstrum will be able to spread a lot of elements around you, ultimately helping you to do more damages with Condition Overload or Galvanized Aptitude/Savvy/Shot.

Once you know how the weapons are performing, you can include synergies with specifics mods as those mentioned by Zakkhar. Manifold Bond is particularly good since it can make any Sentinel's precept able to damage enemies into a primer. Another example is the Helstrum coupled with Duplex Bond: the clones can go around to spread the priming even more without monitoring (if you have a relatively high energy consumption to keep spawning them).

Verglas is for when you want your Wyrm Prime to be able to kill enemies.

Helstrum is for when you want your Wyrm Prime to debuff and prime lots of enemies with status effects.

Notably, making the most of Verglas can sometimes require that you use Mods like "Fired Up" and "Momentous Bond" on your Sentinel, so if you've already got a build you're settled on for Wyrm Prime, the Helstrum would be the easier setup to go with because it doesn't need any Sentinel mods to function.
