Occasional brief screen flickering in Orbiter and relays

Question

Seems like it only happens in Orbiter and relays, never noticed it during gameplay. Anyone else had this problem?

Most noticeable at 00:18

Changing/toggling display mode, refresh rate, vsync and framerate limit has no effect.

My specs are:

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600KF   3.50 GHz
32,0 GB DDR5
RTX 3090 Ti

Driver version seems to have no effect as well. This problem has been going for about a year already.

Exactly the same thing happens to me. It started happening few weeks ago when i changed DirectX from 11 to 12. I thought it was because of that.

My specs (just in case):

  • AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics 2.90 GHz
  • 16,0 Go RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU

Given it's able to be captured via in-game screen capture, it's not a monitor issue. It looks like old school screen tearing, which would mean it's likely some software to hardware hiccup. Likely, this is due to DIrect 12, it's been known to have a few visual quirks.

i thought it was my graphics card slowly dying!

I first noticed it with just the text flickering, but ive gotten the occaisional big flicker like you have.

11th gen intel i9-11900KF
32 gb ram DDR4
RTX 3080ti

Definitely not a hardware issue, this is the only game with such issues I've played recently.

Besides this, I only get visual artifacts (black squares) in Chrome browser (YouTube specifically), but that is also a common issue.

Yeah, and it can be fixed by turning off hardware acceleration, which unfortunately has its own downsides.
