Baruuk’s exalted melee doesnt build combo

Hi.

Baruuk’s exalted melee doesnt build combo. Im talking about the “shockwave” each punch releases.

Is this intended or a bug?

It only counts for combo if Baruuk’s fist itself physically hits the enemy.

This makes very difficult to build up combo when using this exalted weapon.

AFAIK it's intended, since you'd just easily sit at max combo the entire time with how the wind waves function. Excal's Exalted Blade functions similarly, where its energy waves also do not add to the melee combo counter, so I'd say it's by design from what I can tell.

There is no reason to. All it gives you is a dmg multiplier.

You cannot equip "acolyte mods" on it so there is no scaling crit.

There are builds that utilise a game mechanic, where you build combo on your melee weapon, but not on your exalted weapon to capitalise on acolyte mods. But to me it is an overkill because Reactive Storm already gives you massive status and all you get for your hassle is a bit of crit (you do not even get the damage multiplier.

You can build/sustain combo on Desert Wind by utilising slams.

There are actually two reasons to build a combo with Desert Wind. Firstly, Gladiator mods on your melee apply to it. Secondly, we have Tennokai. It's not necessarily overkill; in fact, the damage falls drastically in endurance runs without armor strip.

This is 100% intended and working as designed.

Just like with Excalibur and the energy beams he shoots when he swings his exalted blade.

The melee combo counter only goes up if you actually hit an enemy in melee.
