Mind control suffers from relying on enemy AI to deal damage. You can get the mind controlled target to do respectable damage but it's simply not effective at using that damage. Usually in horde shooters you have tons of enemies but only a few of them are actively attacking at any given point. Even worse: the mind controlled target is liable to get staggered by other enemy melee attacks or baited into gun bashes themselves. Eximus units are also much more effective against us than they are against enemies. The only eximus targets that are worth it in the first place are leech eximi and maybe jade eximi (havent tried the latter yet) since all the others you can just summon whenever you want.

Psychic bolt is an ability that is just kinda lackluster compared to how easily accessible much better armor strips are.

Chaos is fine-ish but CC has been relegated to a niche role overall.

Absorb is pretty meh, other frames have invincibility without any movement drawbacks and the explosion is not useful enough.
