Mod Idea: "barbed Strike"

For lack of a better description, it's multishot for melee.

 

Melee buff discussion aside, with the advent of multishot, guns pretty much soared past melee weapons in usefulness. "Have a Braton? Fighting Infested? NO PROBLEM!"

 

Seriously though. I'd like for some way for melee to be a more viable option, rather than a token feature at this point.

Pretty sure Beserker already fits this idea you are thinking, The main idea for Multishot is to get more hits in a single fire. Beserker does that by increasing your melee rate by quite alot meaning more hits with your melee weapons... 

 

So... Don't think there will be a Multishot for melee... that would be weird...

Except there is? Hitting 5 targets for 100 damage when I can shoot my soma for 2k is just sad.

 

Also: berserker is negligible, Fury gives mroe of an attack speed bonus all the time for the same power. >.>

 

Multishot is shooting ranged weapons well beyond the scope of melee, and melee could use one, even if it was just applied with a D&D Style vorpal effect where you get 'ghost blades' to chase after your strikes, cause Melee NEEDS a buff. One of the biggest offenders to this, is that Guns get anywhere from a 90-180% damage increase that Melee just doesn't have access too, while retaining the benefit of being a Gun, over a Sword.

 

Fine Example: Dual Vasto. Slash oriented Side arm, deals the same base damages, as the Reaper Prime. Hornet STrike, is 220% damage. Pressure point caps at... 120%. THEN Dual Vastos get 180% multishot and Reaper has no equivelant, whis means the Vastos easily. This means the Dual Vastos get 220% more damage, at no penalty, they shoot fast, are insanely accurate, and have a negligible reload. For every swing of a non-furied Reaper, one can easily get 3+ shots off on the Vastos, negating the reapers cleaving ability.

 

On top of this, the Dual Vastos are an... iunno, Early to mid-game-ish side arm (Rank 0 Craftable, mats all obtainable by Earth)? While the Reaper Prime is one of the 'top tier hard to get end game awesome scythe(Rank 2, requires multiple high tier void runs)', and the Vastos are just completely -shunting- it for everything, they have more speed, more range, more damage.

 

But to bring it back to the point, cause I did kinda tangent their: Melee needs Multishot or a base damage increase (or pressure point buff) that brings melees damage -atleast on par- with ranged, because there is just no reason to melee. For as dangerous as it is, there is no reward.

Or better yet, instead of adding more mods, streamline them:

* Change Pressure Point (and similar regular damage mods, inclduing the Steel Charge aura) to be a general damage booster for melee, so it boosts ALL melee damage, regular AND chargedamage alike.

* Turn Killing Blow (and all other chargedamage mods) into the melee multistrike mods. Call it Shadow Strike / Blood Wind etc, whatever is fitting.

* Change Fury (and other attackspeed mods) into affecting both attackspeed AND chargespeed.

* Change Reflex Coil (and other chargespeed mods) into affecting something else. Maybe something related to blocking etc.

 

This gives better scaling for melee weapons (even though they still need a basebuff of about 2x or so) AND doesn't dilute the modpool.
