Soma Vs Synapse

Alright alright..

I know the Synapse have a higher DPS than the Soma when both of them are fully modded.

But how bad is the range on Synapse? I usually like to "snipe" enemies from afar with my Soma. Although it has a Heavy Caliber mod there it is still pretty damn accurate. Especially in Kiste, Kappa, Mobile Defense, and Survival missions. I like to sit back and eliminate enemies from medium to long range. What I like about the Soma is that it has no damage fall off and has a long range.

Can I do that with the Synapse? Or must I try to get close with the enemy? And how much better is the Synapse DPS compared to the Soma DPS?

Following this thread is much more difficult than being dropped into the center of amazon forest with no gps, no lights, no map, at night.

I believe Gottfaust said on p1 or p2 that he has proven that max rank point strike is useful. In other words, not only can it hit 100%, it's actually useful to have more than 100%, unexpectedly.

Unfortunately it looks like they removed/broke that feature on Monday the 6th. Unless they added it back in with 11.6 that is.

They mentioned some changes to continuous fire weapons and status procs. I don't have a Synapse myself (it's cooking) but does anyone know if the recent patch restored the Synapse to its former glory?

Not yet, the fixes appear to have not done anything. I'm betting there was a mess-up and they didn't make it in.

So is getting the Synapse a pointless endeavour?

They will fix it soon hopefully... It's horrid right now, I really can't see them leaving it like this.  They also said that it was unintended and would be fixed... so...  hopefully they return it to the previous setup as far as procs.

Soma is my choice for versatility and feel.complex calculations aside it gets the job done at all ranges.
