Alright, they clarified what it does but now what classifies as a rare resource (By DE's standards)? Does it actually work? The wiki has people saying it only drops ammo, that it drops cells, some say it even drops mods. No one has proof of anything on there. 

 

Well, I'm going to change that. My carrier will be placed onto sacrificial lasers on video until I am satisfied with the results. Even more, I'm going to do it live. Either way I'll post my findings here after it is all done.

 

I'm done. Don't use this mod. 45% of nothing is still nothing. I don't know why this is so bad, at best people will go out of their way every mission killing their sentinel to get an extra orokin cell. Game breaking, right?

Really glad someone is doing some testing on this because I always wondered if this was worth it.

Wait, so Spare Parts doesn't increase drop rate for rare items from enemies you kill?

 

It increases the drop chance for when your sentinel dies!?! That doesn't make sense. 

 

Percentage of chance your sentinel will drop something when it is destroyed.

I am conducting my own research on this using tier 1 defense keys and use the active laser grid. Just jump in the puddle.

 

Once done abort the mission and you don't lose the key.

 

Current results:

 

Deaths: 20

Rifle Ammo 9
Sniper Ammo 1
Pistol Ammo 1
Shotgun Ammo 2
Nothing 7

Bonus energy Orb 3

Credits drops
38

3 possibilities, in order from least likely to most likely:

-the mod works and does exactly what it says

-the mod works but actually increases item drop chance from enemies killed (ranked higher likelihood because there is actually more than 0 evidence to support this idea, from people doing tests)

-the mod does not work and does nothing at all (hint: it's this one.)

OH I just though of a fourth possibility!

-the mod is actually intended to be used for leveling up other mods

edit: wtf linebreaks. they show up in preview post but not in post? oh well I don't care :\

Ah ofc I forgot about this. Been so busy doing the other types of Science. 

 

Right well I know what I will be testing again tonight.

 

I will do 100 runs testing on the defence laser beam death method and 10 attempts with mobs meleeing the sentinel.

I will post results here later.
