Familiar darkness cocooned Amaryllis as he drifted in his pod. A sense of comfort pervaded his form as his awareness crept toward awakening. His limp body arched as his mind relearned to control a young, fragile form. The memory of Saryn’s power faded away as he woke.

Narrow slits cracked open. His dark irises languidly scanned his surroundings for harsh illumination before his eyes fully opened.

His body shifted slightly as the clear fluid that sustained him drained. The few minutes it took to drain the pod seemed an eternity to the young Tenno as both curiosity and apprehension warred within. As soon as his face was free of the liquid, he started taking deep breaths to regain control. His fingers flexed and curled in anticipation of his impending freedom, and then he ripped the breather from his face.

The hiss of the broken seals and the whine of the sliding mechanisms were followed by Amaryllis’ lithe form as he quickly stepped out of the pod. He stood for a moment, as his body suit dripped on the alloy floor of the sterile lab, trying to orient himself.

He jogged to the portal that led to the warframe cells without even pausing to give the thick alloy doors a chance to completely open. He effortlessly jumped through the narrow horizontal gap before he landed into a roll and sprinted into the dimly lit corridor.

After reaching his destination the Tenno stood before the massive doors of the bay. The massive doors hissed open, yet Amaryllis hesitated to enter. It was as if all his eagerness coagulated in his veins and froze him in place. He stared at the 10 foot alloy and crystal constructs that contained the frames. Some of the warframe were fully formed, floating in a more potent version of the sustaining liquid he was in just a few minutes ago, some were being constructed; half grown and half built from materials, both organic and inorganic.

He gathered his resolve and strode toward the pod that encased Saryn. Hesitantly, he reached out before resting his right hand on the clear barrier that separated him from the warm, clear liquid and the entity inside. He gazed intently at the thing that lay within the cell.

Serene.

Inanimate.

Harmless.

And yet he knew that when his desperation and ferocity flared during the escape from the Grineer, she was exactly the opposite. He felt her will flicker into his consciousness. It was brief, just a fraction of his then racing heartbeat, but the malice was undeniable and undeniably potent. The sheer magnitude of the memory left him reeling; skittering away from that darkness. The youth shook his head denying the resurgence of the memory.

He stood there staring at the frame, waiting for something, anything to happen.

When nothing happened after an hour or two, a thought occurred to Amaryllis and he turned around to look at the area. He remembered how mundane and unwieldy his first frame was; more like one of those infernal corpus proxies rather than any of the warframe that now dominated this section of the tower. After searching for some time, he found it in an empty pod in the darkest section of the bay. He touched the surface of the pod and was surprised by the cold that greeted his hand. He stepped back and cocked his head to one side and wondered why it was not immersed in the same warm liquid as Saryn and the others were. He had an inexplicable urge to find out.
